Vernon Byron Geyen Sr.

On Thursday, the 17th day of June 2021, Mr. Vernon Byron
Geyen, Sr. departed this life at the age of 82 in Lake Charles, LA. Vernon was born May 3, 1939, to the late Adam Geyen and Mildred Gilbert Geyen in Lake Charles, LA.

He began his education at Second Ward Elementary School. He
was a 1959 graduate of W. O. Boston High School where he lettered in football under Coach LaPeace where the team went on to win a state championship that year. He worked at City Service Industries and Lake Charles Furniture for many years; however,
he was most proud of his labor as an entrepreneur in the restaurant and furniture industry. He was an avid football fan and everyone who knew him knew that his favorite saying was, “Touchdown!” When he wanted to get his point across, his favorite
punch line was, “Ain’t no more talking!” This punchline was used regularly when watching football or basketball with “GeGe”. He was a member of The Golden Chain Masonic Lodge 103. Mr. Geyen was also a proud and active member of New Sunlight Baptist
Church. Vernon loved life, his family, and his infectious and contagious spirit will forever be cherished by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Mildred Gilbert Geyen, four brothers, Onezene
Geyen, Robert Geyen, Calvin Geyen, and Alvin Geyen; one sister, Sandra Geyen; and three sons, Tommy Geyen, Robert Geyen, and Vernon Geyen, Jr.

He leaves to mourn and cherish his memory his wife of 37 years, Billye Gail Jackson
Geyen; one daughter Vanessa “Nessa” eliford of Lak Charles Reliford of Lake Charles, LA; two sons Darryl Geyen (Bridgette) of Manvel, TX and Michael (Stephanie) Geyen of Schertz, TX; one daughter-in-law Barbara Geyen of Lake Charles, LA.; three
brothers Adam (Zola) Geyen of Lake Charles, LA, Rodney (Mary) Geyen of Lake Charles, LA, and Gerald (Twila) Geyen of Menifee, California; two sisters Addie Geyen and Cheryl (Roosevelt) Manning both of Lake Charles, LA; three sisters-in-law Reta (Lee)
Durgan of Lake Charles, LA, Loubertha(Ervin) Thomas of Houston, TX, and Olivia Patterson of Lakeland, FL; six grandsons, Derrick Celestine, Vernon Geyen III, Phillip Geyen and Kylin “KK” Andrus all of Lake Charles, LA, Kendrick Geyen of Schertz, TX
and Darryl Austin Geyen of Manvel, TX; three granddaughters, Brittany Geyen of Dallas, TX, Bianca Geyen of Manvel, TX and Danielle Geyen, PA of Manvel, TX; three great-grandchildren, Derrick Jr., Brittany and Whitney Celestine both of Lake Charles,
LA; his childhood best friend, Donald Ray “Big Man” Broussard; one special godchild, Milton Jermaine Chretien, Sr., of Katy, TX. Additionally, he leaves to cherish a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 25, 2021, at New Sunlight Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m., and the celebration of life at 12:00 noon, Rev. Alfred L. Williams, II will officiate. Burial will follow in Combre Memorial Park under the direction
of King’s Funeral Home.
