David Roland Prude, Sr. was born on February 2, 1961, in
Lake Charles, Louisiana, to the late Mary O’Brien Prude and Jacque Prude. He is a 1979 graduate of W.O. Boston High School, where he served as a saxophonist in the band and graduated with honors. He spent his formative years as an active member of
Starlight Baptist Church, and it is there he received the gift of salvation in Christ and was baptized.
After high school, he enlisted as a soldier in the U.S. Army where he actively served and trained other soldiers within the
country and abroad as a tank operator. This included several years stationed in Fort Polk, Louisiana and Berlin, Germany. In addition to a trained soldier and tank operator, he also committed over 35 years to the U.S. freight industry as a licensed
commercial semi-tractor trailer and hazardous materials driver.
David possessed many gifts and talents, but he was especially gifted in the areas of music and creativity. He was a skilled vocalist and musician, and he played
multiple instruments including the piano and saxophone. He had a tinker/engineering brain, with the ability to assemble and construct almost anything. He also designed and personally manufactured custom clothing and hand-made quilts for his family
and friends.
After a life filled with love and laughter, on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, David transitioned to be home with our heavenly father and many of his beloved family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary
O’Brien and Jacque Prude, grandparents, Octavia and Howard O’Brien, brother, Bennie Moore, first wife and mother of his children, Melissa Ann Victorian, godfather, David O’Brien, and godmother, Lillie Mae Noel.
