David Samuel Wilson 81 of Sulphur, La. died on June 2, 2021 in Sulphur. He was born on July 13, 1939 in Newton, Texas to Lannie N. Wilson of Bon Wier, Texas and Shirley LaNell “Nell” Irvin of Burkeville, Texas. He was a 1957 graduate of
Newton High School.
He is survived by his daughters, Kelly Wilson Spivey and husband, Mark of Newton, Texas and Lannie Wilson Ardoin of Lake Charles, Louisiana; sister, Mary Francis Wilson Smith of Huntsville, Texas;
grandchildren, Rachel Savant and husband, Cody of Kinder, Louisiana, Andrew “Drew” Fletcher of Moss Bluff, Louisiana, Hannah Parish and husband, Jason of Ragley, Louisiana, Kyle Ardoin of Lake Charles, Louisiana and Brooklyn of Lake Charles,
Louisiana; great grandchildren, Jessica, Allison, Kodie Mae, Nathaniel and Barret Savant and Jacey and Rory Parish; step grandson, Dakotas Martin of Lake Charles, Louisiana and his dearly beloved Toy Australian Shepherd dog, Rusty.
David was preceded in death by his parents, his two sons, David Samuel Wilson Jr. and Kevin Patrick Wilson and his wife of almost 40 years, Genie d. Wilson.

As a young man, David drove big trucks and also worked as a
service station mechanic. In the 1960’s, he began working for the Goodyear Tire Company in Jasper, Texas as a mechanic and worked his way up to ore Manager. After successfully managing stores in Silsbee, West Orange, Jasper and Port Arthur/ Groves;
he left Goodyear to work as a pipeline operator for Explorer for Explorer Pipeline before retiring.
He loved working on cars (especially restoring classic cars and trucks); bass fishing; playing his guitar; shooting sports;
carpentry; and was known as someone who could fix or repair anything. He also enjoyed sitting outside on a pretty day with a good cup of coffee.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at
Smith Funeral Home in Newton, Texas with a graveside service to follow at Ford Cemetery in Newton.
