D.L. Mackey was born in Grant, Louisiana and later moved to DeRidder, Louisiana. He met and wed the lovely Dr. Bernice Ned Mackey, while working in Lake Charles to this union three children were born.

His funeral will be at 11AM Saturday, April 10, 2021 Christian Baptist Church. Pastor Edward Alexander Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery in Westlake under the direction of Stevens’ Funeral Home. Visitation Saturday 10AM-11AM.
