Evelyn Gay Lawton Duhon

Evelyn Gay Lawton Duhon, age 74, resident of Carlyss,
passed away Friday, March 12, 2021. She was born on July 3, 1946 at St Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles, La.
Evelyn Gay was raised and lived her life in Sulphur. She graduated from Sulphur High school and attended LSU. She married her high
school sweet heart John Michael Duhon of Sulphur. She loved spending time with her family, especially her three daughters and their husbands and her six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter that affectionally called her “Titou”. She also loved
spending time with family and friends. She was an active member of the American International Charolais Association. She was most proud of her 2015 Nation Champion Charolais Bull, Ruidoso. She loved taking care of her Charolais cattle and her
chickens on her ranch in Carlyss, JVS Cattle Company. She met many friends at Charolais livestock shows.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Harold Christopher Truax II, granddaughter, Margaret Elizabeth Truax, and her parents,
William Burton Lawton and Mary Jean Lawton
Evelyn Gay is survived by her husband, John Michael Duhon; her sister, Linda Lewis Drost and husband, Mitch; three daughters, Mary Margaret Harper and husband, J.C. of Lake Charles, Katherine
Elizabeth Smith and husband, Rod of Sulphur, and Evelyn Michelle Truax and husband, Chris of Lake Charles. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Bayne Lawton Smith and wife, Brittany, Evelyn Alexandra Truax, Jake Austin Smith, Michael Thomas
Harper, Emma Francis Harper, and Tatum Elizabeth Truax, and one great-grand-daughter, Scarlett Jean Smith.
Visitation will be held 4 p.m.- 8 p.m. on Monday, March 15, 2021 in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church Hall with a Rosary
beginning at 7 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. Father Edward J Richard, M.S. will officiate services under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur
Memorial Funeral Home. Evelyn Gay’s wishes were to be cremated and she will be laid to rest at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to American Charolais Foundation (ACF) care of Ludeke/Truax Memorial Scholarship Fund.
