Georgia Ruth Ferguson

Georgia Ruth Quinn Ferguson, age 91, of Austin, Texas,
passed away on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021. Georgia was born Aug. 12, 1929.
Georgia was a daughter, sister, wife, and mother. She loved children and taught Sunday School to the younger children wherever the family was living. She would often
stop to pickup children who would not have a ride to church. It has been said that she was a direct influence on the personal relationship with Christ of one of the little girls that she taught who is now a missionary.
You would find her
helping out with whatever her children were interested in. She was a Cub Scout den mother twice in her lifetime. She was founder and sponsor of the Vinton Elementary 4-H club and was a Northside Middle School 4-H sponsor. She was a member of the
Vinton High School Band Boosters.
She was a member of the Vinton Chapter of the Eastern Star and served as all star points as well as Assistant Worthy Matron and Worthy Matron.
She drove a school bus part time and became a full
time driver after the death of her husband. Georgia was an award winning insurance sales person winning trips and bonuses from her sales.
She loved her birds and plants and had multiple feeders out for the birds. She loved to watch the
Cardinals, Blue Jays and her beloved Humming Birds. She would sit and watch the birds in her back yard playing in amongst her plants and when she would see a bird she did not recognize she would grab her bird books and start looking it up. She was
also an amateur plant horticulturist. At one point she had over 450 plants. Oh, my, how she loved her plants!!
She was preceded in death by her husband James O. Ferguson and daughter Marsha Marie Ferguson. Her father, Ralph J. Quinn and
mother Mary Frances Quinn as well as by her brother William Ray Quinn and sisters Emmadel Quinn Schlischer, Alma Jean Quinn Mathewson and Janet Quinn LaGrone.
She is survived by daughter Francine Ferguson and son John M. (Buster) Ferguson
both of Austin, Texas. Son James D. (Buddy) Ferguson and wife Linda of Henderson, Kentucky. Brother Joseph E. Quinn and wife Joan Ann of Moss Bluff, La. Grandchildren James D. (Jim) Ferguson Jr. and wife Sarah of Moss Bluff, La. Granddaughters,
Margaret May and Hannah Kathleen Ferguson and grandsons Maxwell Todd and Jackson Graham Ferguson all of Henderson, Kentucky.
She is also survived by 3 Great-grandchildren, Ian Parker and Henry James Ferguson and Eleanor Grier (Ellie)
Ferguson all of Moss Bluff, La. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and she loved every one of them.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton.
Memorial service
will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday led by Celebrant Jody Barrilleaux in Hixson Vinton Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Nibletts Bluff Cemetery.
