Walter McKinley Ceaser
Walter McKinley Ceaser, 59, of Houston, Texas, passed away on Jan. 29, 2021, at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Katy, Texas.
Walter Ceaser was born on Nov. 23, 1961, to Joseph Ceaser and Alida Leopaul (Soileau) in Lake Charles, La. He grew up in the Catholic church where he gave his life to Christ at an early age.
After Walter graduated from W.O Boston High School in 1980, he worked as a supervisor at Excel in Freeport, Texas, and was an entrepreneur to the time of his death.
Walter was always the life of the party and was well loved by all who knew him. He particularly loved dressing in the latest fashions and possessed a selfless heart.
He was predeceased by his father, Joseph Ceaser; and mother, Alida Leopaul; stepfather, Joseph “Ray” Leopaul; his sister, Freda Ceaser; and his brother, Joseph Ceaser Jr. He is survived by his four sons, Walter Jr., Juestin, Christian and Dillon Ceaser; his grandchildren; and his four siblings, Mathilda (Donald) Montgomery, Betty (Barry) Williams and Cinda (Leopold) Williams, all of Texas, and Gregory Ceaser of Lake Charles, La. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and family and friends.
Due to Covid-19 the memorial service will be private for immediate family only.
Larrual (Larry) Collins
Larrual Kurt Moses Collins Sr., 66, of Lake Charles, Louisiana transitioned to his heavenly home on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2021. “Larry,” as he was affectionately known, was born Jan. 23, 1955, in Lafayette, La., to Mose and Agnes Collins.
A native of Lake Charles, Larry attended Carver Elementary and Lake Charles High for his primary and secondary education. After graduation, he attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana (USL) where he attained a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree. Larry was a faithful and dedicated member of Reeves Temple CME Church in Lake Charles where he served the Lord until his death. He was a member of Usher Board II and tirelessly worked as a member of the Trustee Board. He also took joy in cooking and delivering meals for the church’s famous BBQ fundraiser and many other church activities. Larry was employed by the Calcasieu Parish School Board for over a decade. He later went to work for Entergy as an operator and retired in 2016 after 25 years. While at Entergy, Larry belonged to the IBEW Union #2286. He served as the union steward representing employees, where he used his voice to seek out change for improving relationships within the organization. He also consulted with management on employee working conditions and improving plant processes. Larry invested his time working with youth and served as a little league baseball coach through Mid-City for over 10 years. He was an avid sports enthusiast and a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan. He also enjoyed traveling, especially with his family and dear friends. There wasn’t much that Larry could not do; he did everything from carpentry, landscaping, photography, and architectural work. He even designed several homes in the area. However, his greatest joy was cooking and entertaining his family and friends. He loved his family and taught his boys the value of hard work, integrity and taking care of one another. He was known as “Pop” to his grandson and they had many adventures together, including riding the four-wheeler.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Carol A. Collins; two sons, Larry (Laurie) Collins of Houston, Texas, and Jarvis (Audrey) Collins of Lake Charles, La. He will be dearly missed by his mother, Agnes Collins; grandson, Kyler Collins; sister, Gabrielle (Chuck) Sonnier all of Lake Charles, La., and brother, Troye (Olivia) Collins of Austin, Texas; along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Larry was preceded in death by an infant daughter; his father, Mose Collins; brother, Courtlande Collins Sr.; sister, Sheila Ozane; maternal grandparents Herbert and Stella Goodwin; and paternal grandparents Woodman and Regina Collins.
Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Combre Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021, at 11 a.m. in Combre Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Hamilton Garden of Memories under the direction of Combre Funeral Home.

Henry Kulaga, 70, of DeRidder, died Sunday, Feb. 7. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 12, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in DeRidder, under the direction of Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder.
Harold Joseph Lavergne
Harold Joseph Lavergne, 77, of Lake Charles, was called Home on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2021.
He was one of eight children born to Ulyess and Marie Richard Lavergne on Oct. 3, 1943, in Church Point, La.
At age nine his family made Lake Charles their home, where he grew up, attending LaGrange High School, Class of 1961.
In 1966 he and Loretta exchanged vows, then after 10 months of marriage he was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, serving just under two years, receiving an honorable discharge. Upon returning home he worked at Weingarten Grocery store, then Market Basket until his retirement.
Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, recounting stories of his youth and things he did with his siblings. You could find him tending to his vegetable garden, watching NASCAR, or rooting on his New Orleans Saints and LSU Tigers. He also enjoyed the luncheons with his LaGrange Gator Classmates.
He was welcomed into Heaven by his parents; his son, Bradley Joseph Lavergne; his daughter, Stephanie Kay Lavergne; his three brothers, Leroy, Martin, and E.L. Lavergne and four sisters, Elizabeth Comeaux, Lovenia Quibodeaux, Nell Rose Winn, and Ora Royer.
Those left to cherish his memory is his wife of 54 years, Loretta; his daughter, Amy Lavergne; countless nieces, nephews, and extended family, as well as his favorite pet, his dog Doozer.
The family will welcome friends on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2021, at University Baptist Church in Lake Charles beginning at 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. A Rosary prayed at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume Thursday, Feb. 11, beginning at 9 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial led by Father Levi Thompson begins at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at Consolata Cemetery.

Janila Bradford LeBouef, 76, a resident of Lake Charles, was reunited with her husband and son that she missed so dearly on Feb. 7, 2021, in a local hospital.
Mrs. LeBouef was a woman of unwavering faith and generosity. She was completely and totally devoted to her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoyed painting, crafting, collecting antiques, sewing, and spending time with her family. She was very creative and utilized her creativity to enrich the lives of others. Janila wrote and published her own book and, prior to that, owned a vintage shop called Precious Memories with her sister Patsy. She had a passion for toys and had a collection that was beyond imagination.
Mrs. LeBouef is preceded in death by her parents Alcy and Anna Laura Mitchell Bradford; husband, Ellis Marshall LeBouef; son, Mark Patrick Bradford “Marty” LeBouef; and sister, Sandra Bradford.
Janila leaves to cherish her memory her four children; Laura LeBouef Duhon and husband Edward, Loran Lane LeBouef, Tanya LeBouef Davis and husband Anthony, and Michael Chadwick LeBouef, her loving grandchildren: Lauren, April, Evan, Amanda, Heath, Shane, Luke, Lance, and Adam; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Patsy B. Young and Jo Polansky and husband Wayne; and brother-in-law, Lynn LeBouef.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021, in the North Venue of Trinity Baptist Church from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. in the North Venue of Trinity Baptist Church. The Revs. Randy Monroe and Jerry Parmentier are to officiate. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery.
The family would like to express their sincerest appreciation for her care by her son, Chad, the staff at St. Patrick’s Hospital, Kinder Retirement Center, and Dr. Lloyd Kelley.

Cheryl Margaret Manuel
We mournfully announce the passing of Cheryl Margaret Manuel, 70, of Grand Prairie, Texas, (formerly of Lake Charles, La). Cheryl passed away on Feb. 1, 2021, after a hard fought battle with Alzheimer’s.
She was preceded in death by her parents Murphy and Mazie Manuel. Surviving family members consist of siblings, Mona Colvin of Fort Worth, Texas, Joan Manuel of Grand Prairie, Texas, Pamela and Jerry Haynes of Section, Ala., and Samuel Manuel of Lake Charles, La.; nieces and nephews include Jenet Caillouet, Natalie Northcutt, Monica Mikel, Boyd Haynes, Keith Manuel, Tim Haynes, Marty Colvin, Mandy Colvin and Corey Haynes. She is also survived by a wonderful brood of great and great great nieces and nephews.
Cheryl, born to Murphy and Mazie Manuel, took her first breath on Nov. 11, 1950. Cheryl was a force to be reckoned with from the get go, graduating from La Grange High School in 1968 and McNeese State University in 1972. She pursued and was awarded a degree in Physical Education and Math.
While Cheryl never married, she lived a full and vibrant life with more friends than you could count. Her nephews and nieces meant more to her than words can describe.
Before Cheryl retired, she worked for ConocoPhillips. In her younger days, she played tennis, golf, softball, and coached softball at McNeese. She loved all sports and EVERYTHING New Orleans Saints! We will miss Cheryl dearly.
Due to COVID pandemic, a memorial service will be held in the summer of 2021 in Lake Charles, La. More details will follow as that time approaches.

Cleo Mae McGilvray, 89, of Lake Charles, died Sunday, Feb. 7. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. today at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Interment will be at Highland Memory Gardens.

Suzzanne Marie Pellegrin Richard
Suzzanne Marie Pellegrin Richard died peacefully at home on Feb. 5, 2021, surrounded by her family. She was 66.
Born in Lake Charles, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Janet (Boudreaux) Pellegrin. She lived the last several years in Houston, Texas.
Suzzanne recently retired from Hospitality Lodging as a bookkeeper. Her brief battle with cancer began shortly thereafter.
She is survived by her daughters, Melissa Richard, Carrie Russo (husband Tony), Aimee Richard (wife Danielle Abramowitz), and Mandee Richard (husband Frank Smith), all of Houston, Texas; sisters, Gerri Bertrand (John) of Sulphur, La., and Jean Hudspeth of Conroe, Texas; grandchildren, Addison and Chaney Deaton, Eli and Ethan Kacal, Blaklee Jones, Cooper Fowler and Isabelle Smith. Suzzanne was preceded in death by her parents, EJ and Janet; her brother, Hayes Pellegrin of Houma, La.; and her grandson, Morgan Deaton of Houston, Texas.
Suzzanne lived her life fully… she loved traveling and spending time with her family and friends. Her generous, loving spirit lives strongly within the hearts of all who knew her love.

Jesse L. Spears, 75, of Kinder, died Feb. 8. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, at Reed Funeral Home of Kinder. Burial will be in Green Oak Cemetery.

Mary V. St. Romain, 89, of DeRidder, died Saturday, Feb. 6. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in DeRidder. Burial will be at Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder, under the direction of Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder.

Amilcar “Mickey” Torres
Amilcar “Mickey” Torres, 90, of Lake Charles passed away at 1:15 AM on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Villa Maria Retirement Home.
Mr. Torres was born in Lares, Puerto Rico on September 23, 1930. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict with the 90th Field Artillery in the 25th Infantry Division. Mr. Torres was a 1956 graduate of SLI and was an alumni member of ULL Lafayette. He had a 33-year career with the Louisiana Department of Health and Human Resources where he was a chief sanitarian.
He was highly involved in the community where he served 4 years with the Calcasieu Parish Planning Authority and was a member of the National Environmental Health Organization and the Louisiana State Environmental Association. He impacted many young men while coaching and managing baseball teams in the Southside Little League for 18 years. He is a past member of the LaGrange Band Boosters and was a 40-year member and past president of Club Hispano-Americano. Mr. Torres ushered for St. Margaret Catholic Church for 40 years. He was a member of The W.B. Williamson Post #1 American Legion, a past member of the Mardi Gras Krewe des Feteurs, an invested member of the Order of St. Charles, and was a Companion of Honor.
Mr. Torres was a world traveler, a mission traveler with Abrazando Cristo, a sports enthusiast, gardener, and was fond of music and dancing. He could often be found mall walking. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Rose Guidry Torres of Lake Charles; sons, Joey Torres (Sharon) of Lake Charles, Alex Torres (Pam) of Lake Charles, Mark Torres of Fountain Hills, AZ, and Monsignor Daniel Torres of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Matthew Torres (Martha) of New Orleans, Allison Sonnier (Jude), Mary Kingsley (Evan), and Michael “Mickey” Torres all of Lake Charles; 8 great grandchildren; siblings, Astul Torres, Nelida Soto, Sylvia Nieves, Maritza McLaughlin, and Miriam Marrero all of Puerto Rico; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eloisa and Antonio Torres; and siblings, Andre Torres, Eloisa Ramos, Luisa Soto, Luz Enilda Soto, Arsenio Torres, Anibal Torres, Helen Peniston, and Evalina Girard.
A funeral mass will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, February 12, 2021 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. His son, Monsignor Daniel Torres, will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Friday in the church from 12:30 PM until the start of the service with a rosary being recited at 2:15 PM.

Dallas Lavell Webb Sr., 78, of Westlake, La., died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021, in a local healthcare facility.
Mr. Webb was a native of Boyce, LA and in 1972 made the Lake area home for his family. Early in life, he began working for his uncles with Odell Vinson Oil Field Contractors and then Davies Construction, retiring with a combined total of nearly fifty years. He prepared land, built platforms, roads and drilling sites. Mr. Webb was privileged to share his skill and knowledge with his sons as they all worked with him at some point in time. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the great outdoors. He will be remembered as a devoted family man who worked hard to provide well.
He leaves to honor his memory, his wife of fifty-nine years, Betty Grisham Webb of Westlake; five sons, Brian Scott Webb, Sr. (Sarah) of Sulphur, Deland Kane Webb (Wendy) and John David Webb (Tiffany), of Moss Bluff, and Charles Edward Webb and Jeffrey Todd Webb of Westlake; one brother, Louis Edward Webb, Jr. (Eileen) of San Jose, CA; sixteen grandchildren; Heather Aaron, Ashley, Miranda and Erica Webb, Brian Scott, Jr., Aaron O’Quinn, Blake Domingue, Landen, Delaney, Courtney, Mackensie, Abbigail, Greyson and Kailyn Webb and Taylor and Riley Webb and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Dallas Lavell Webb, Jr.; parents, Louis Edward Webb, Sr. and Zennie Mae Vinson; one brother, Douglas Roger Webb and one sister, Betty Sue Wyland.
In respect of his wishes, Mr. Webb was cremated and his family will gather privately in remembrance.

Barbara “Bobbye” Ann Sonnier West
JENNINGS — Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara “Bobbye” Ann Sonnier West, 76, of Jennings, will be held on Friday, Feb. 12, 2021, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 10 a.m. with Father Susil Fernando officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
Visitation for Mrs. West will begin on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021, at 3 p.m. and continue until closing at 8 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume at 8 a.m. Friday morning until time to leave for church.
Mrs. West was born in Crowley on Nov. 24, 1944, to Bernice Sonnier and Esther Breaux Hebert. After raising her family in the Metairie area she returned home to Jennings where she was a business owner until retirement. She enjoyed cooking, traveling and was very active in her church. Tending to her flowers and garden were a favorite pastime as well, but nothing could take the place of time spent and love shared with her children and grandchildren.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband, Don West of Jennings; her mother Esther Hebert; daughter, Lindsay (Mike) Kratzer of Metairie; son, Christopher (Deborah) Faulk of Metairie; sister, Drusilla (Jerome) Schexnider of Rayne; brother, Bernice “Bernie” (Cathy) Sonnier Jr. of Welsh; eight grandchildren, Sarah, Taylor, Alex, Kirsten, Lance, Lana, Lucy and Ellie; and stepbrothers, Dennis, Stephen and Billy Hebert.
Preceding Mrs. West in death were her father; and a daughter, Kristina Michelle Faulk.
