Aubrey Balket
Aubrey Balket entered into eternal rest peacefully on January 3, 2021, at the age of 82. He was born on June 5, 1938, in Chataignier, LA to the late Willie Balket and Stella Dentley.
Pastor Aubrey Balket dedicated his life to God at an early age. He was a hard-working man. He attended Jeff Davis Trade School where he obtained his certification as a mechanic. Aubrey worked as a farmer and mechanic for many years. On July 25, 1958, at age of 21 he was united in holy matrimony to his loving wife Alice Richard. Together they bore eight children. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Pastor Aubrey was a wonderful musician and singer. Later in life he was called to be an Evangelist which led him to become the founder and Pastor of Mt. Moriah Holiness Church in Elton, LA. Pastor Aubrey Dean Balket was the true definition of a leader. Quiet, humble, and kindhearted; he helped many people spiritually and never had an enemy.
He leaves to cherish his loving wife Alice Balket; five sons, Aubrey (Ida) Balket of Lake Charles, LA, Jerry (Wanda) Balket of Moss Bluff, LA, Michael Balket of Kinder, LA, Malcom ( Karen) Balket of Houston, TX, Damien (Ashley) Balket of Houston, TX; three daughters, Lorinda Matthew of Mamou, LA, Debra (Wesley) Kelly of Sulphur, LA, and Kimberlyn (Van Jr) Rousell of Stafford, TX; three brothers, Linton Thomas, Roger Thomas, and Milton Thomas, 16 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Willie and Stella Balket; four brothers, Rodney Thomas, Harry Lee Thomas, Edward Thomas, Clarence Thomas; three sisters Viola Actlis, Mildred Thomas, and Hazel Poullard.
His visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Funeral service for immediate family at Holiness unto The Lord Church in Elton, LA. Burial in St. John Cemetery.

Justin Dwayne Briscoe
Justin Dwayne Briscoe was born July 2, 1987, in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Kevin and Mary Moore Briscoe. Justin was baptized at an early age at Starlight Baptist Church.
Justin was better known as “Scoe” or J. Bris” to his friends and classmates. Justin played baseball for MidCity throughout his childhood and went on to play football for Oak Park Middle School and LaGrange High School. Justin was a member of FCA. Justin is a proud 2005 graduate of LaGrange High School. Justin attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where he pledged and became a brother of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.
Justin enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was well known and loved.
Justin was preceded in death by his father Kevin Briscoe, paternal great grandparents James and Nolia Briscoe Sr., maternal grandparents Bennie Moore and Mary O’Brien.
Justin leaves to cherish his memory his mother and step-father Mary and Robert DeBoest, son Parker Briscoe, grandmother Evelyn Briscoe, two sisters Marion Moore and Kelvisha Briscoe, one special cousin Eric O’Brien, godbrother Damien Babineaux, one godchild India Irvine, godparents Sheila Washington and David Prude Sr., nine nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and a host of relatives and friends.
His visitation will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at 1:30 pm at Fondel Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will immediately follow in the chapel.
Wilfred Joseph Chenier
On Friday, the 31st day of December 2020, Wilfred Joseph Chenier, a good and faithful servant, was called home to share in his Master’s joy at the age of 73. Wilfred, affectionately called Wil, the third of ten children, was born in Opelousas, Louisiana on August 30, 1947 to Alfred and Elva (Roberts) Chenier, Sr.
He attended Grand Avenue until the fifth grade and graduated from Paul Dunbar High School in Washington, Louisiana in 1966. As a fighting tiger, he earned his bachelor’s degree in Education from Grambling State University in 1970. He later graduated from McNeese State University with a Master’s in Education and a Plus 30. He was a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Qualified Mental Health Professional. He founded Chenier Family Guidance Center in 1993 and later opened Chenier Family Counseling in 2010. Throughout his career, he held a variety of positions. He was an educator, guidance counselor, speech pathologists, testing coordinator and an academic advisor – until he retired from McNeese State University as the Dean of Student Services. Although he was retired, he continued counseling and began working at Bridgeway Psychiatric Center.
Wilfred attended St. Henry’s Catholic Church for many years where he was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Knights of Columbus #5022 and the Knights of Peter Claver #168. He was active in his community and belonged to several professional organizations.
He leaves to cherish his memory, three sisters; Elizabeth (Calvin) Skinner of DeQuincy, Louisiana, Elva (Connie) Davis of Shreveport, Louisiana, Mary Chenier Hayes of Killeen, Texas; three brothers, Albert (Ann) Thomas of Huffman, Texas, Preston (Doris) Chenier, Sr. and Ray (Sandra) Chenier, Sr. both of DeQuincy, Louisiana; two brothers-in-Law, Eugene Mallet of Lake Charles, Louisiana and Franklin Hayes of Pensacola, Florida and two sisters-in-law, Martha Blake and Joyce Chenier, both of Houston, Texas; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, godchildren and a host of other family and friends.
Waiting to greet him in heaven are his Parents; two brothers, Alfred Chenier, Jr., and John Chenier; one sister, Patricia Mallet; one nephew, Ray Chenier, Jr., and two great nephews, Khoury Alexander Mallet and Michael Chenier, Jr.
A selfless soul, he was accomplished, yet humble. He gave more than he ever took; and he will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him most.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 9:00 a.m., with a rosary at 10:00 a.m., at King’s Funeral Home and funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Henry’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Community Cemetery, DeQuincy, LA, under the direction of King’s Funeral Home.

Doris Marie Senegal Guillory
Doris Marie Senegal was born on July 29, 1935, in Lafayette, La. She is one of eleven children born to the union of the late Lucien and Aline (Perkins) Senegal.
Doris was baptized at an early age and was a devout catholic. She was married to Eugene Antoine, Jr. and later in life remarried to Liness Guillory, who preceded her in 2005. She was a loving wife and mother, who worked hard on behalf of her family. She would give anything to see that her children were happy; and her children loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by both her parents; her siblings, Margaret Mouton, Avery Senegal, Lucille Comeaux, Louis Senegal, Emily Antoine, Norris Senegal, Doris Jean St. Julien, and Mary Louise Robertson; and son, Christopher Antoine.
She is survived by her loving children, Ella Dean Antoine, Anthony Antoine, (Sheree), Glen Antoine (Shantel), Victor Antoine (Melissa), Kenneth Antoine (Virginia); brother, Mabry Senegal; sister, Virginia Arceneaux; grandchildren, Toby Antoine, Erica Brown, Brooke Antoine, Maya Antoine, Diamond Antoine, Quintessa Antoine, Victor Antoine, Jr., Alicia Maria Antoine; and 12 great grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday January 9, 2021 from 11:00 A.M. to 12:40 P.M. in Combre Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be Saturday January 9, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Mausoleum under the Direction of Combre Funeral Home.

Lena DeClouette LaCour, age 66, passed away peacefully in Los Angeles, Calif., on Dec. 26, 2020, from a long illness. She was born in New Orleans, La., and lived her younger years in Lake Charles, La., with Mr. and Mrs. Louis and LouBertha Jones.
She made her way to Los Angeles, Calif., and worked as a Los Angeles Police Officer then Transit Dept. She married Clarence LaCour and had a daughter, Crystal L. Guzman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Florena T. DeClouette, Louis and LouBertha Jones; sisters, Emily D. Pressley, Gail G. Cromer; brother, Larry DeClouette.
She is survived by daughter, Crystal Guzman; granddaughter, Amara Guzman; sisters, Diana D. Jourdan, Madeline D. Leger, Jeanette DeCloutte, Gertrude DeClouette and Julia Guillory.
Cremation will be a scattering at sea, date unknown.

Paul Percy Malbrough, 73, departed this life on Friday, January 1, 2021, at Christus St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles, LA. He was born on August 12, 1947, to Rudolph Malbrough and Edna Colligan in Church Point, LA. He was a self-employed contractor and owner of Malbrough Construction Company, Inc., for many years. He served his country in the United States Army with a honorable discharge receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Sharpshooter (Rifle).
He leaves to cherish his memories his children, Paula M. Edmonson (Leon) and Paul Le’Quinn Malbrough both of Lake Charles, LA; siblings, Theresa Price (John), Veronica Cluse (Amos), Lois Johnwell (Rayfield), Felton Malbrough (Liz), Grace Espirit (Rufus) and John Arthur Malbrough; five grandchildren, DeVionte’ Edmonson, Nikima Malbrough, DeJona’ E. Joseph L. (Bird) Narcisse entered eternal rest peacefully on Saturday, January 2, 2021, at Camelot Jennings Nursing facility. He was surrounded by family. He was born on July 22, 1948, to the late Horace Narcisse, Sr. and Josephine Chaisson Narcisse. As a young man, he worked for City Service plant (Citgo) and then started Narcisse Auto Shop. He is a member of Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church.

Rudolph Nunez, age 87, of Lake Charles, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021. Rudolph was born August 28, 1933 to George and Ruby Newton Nunez in Lake Charles, LA.
Rudolph was a very devoted family man who loved his family dearly. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sport activities. He loved talking and telling stories to all who he came in contact with. Rudolph was an avid sports fan, liked to fish, hunt, and enjoyed woodworking. He was a retired employee of 33 years with Himont Chemical. Rudolph was also a member of the Catholic faith an attended Christ the King Catholic Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 56 years, Dolores Ann Nunez; brothers, Curtis Nunez and Jerry Nunez; sisters, Francis Miller and Jeanette Poole.
Those left to cherish his memory are his; daughter, Jackie Leslie and husband Reggie of Moss Bluff, LA; two sons, Rudolph “Chip” Nunez Jr. and wife Renee’ of Tomball, TX, Eric Nunez and wife Angie of Lake Charles, LA; Seven grandchildren and one great grandchild; brothers, George E. Connie Thompson Roche, 77, of Lake Charles passed away at her residence on January 3, 2021
Connie is a native of Franklin, and a long-time resident of Lake Charles. A graduate of LaGrange High School, she attended McNeese State University and worked at Calcasieu Marine National Bank, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office before working for 40 years as a legal secretary for her husband, Alvis Roche. Most importantly, she was a wife, mother and grandmother.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of 55 years, Alvis J. Roche; daughters, Susan Henning and husband William “Dub”; Vicki Hawsey and husband Lyle and Diane Roche; three grandchildren, Madeline “Maddie” Henning, Brennan Cade Hawsey and Rachel Hawsey and sister, Anita Duke.
Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at University Baptist Church on Saturday January 9, 2021 with a funeral service being at 3:00 PM at the church with Dr. John Robert Black officiating. Entombment will follow at Consolata Cemetery, all under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
