Allen Roy Fuselier
Allen Roy Fuselier, 74, died on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, in his residence following a lengthy illness.
Born in Port Arthur, Texas to Jefferson Joseph and Loyce Vidrine Fuselier, Roy lived most of his life in the Port Acres section of Port Arthur. He was a 1964 graduate of Stephen F. Austin High School and proudly served his country as a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force where he was eventually deployed to Nha Trang in Vietnam. Roy worked as a machinist in the petroleum industry for forty-five years, retiring in 2013 from Texaco Refinery, now Motiva, and developed close friendships with co-workers that endure to this day. He moved to Lake Charles in 2017 where he continued to enjoy fishing, bad jokes, classic cars, Cajun music, dancing, food and wine, traveling in his RV, and most especially, spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Roy is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia Lavergne Fuselier; stepchildren, David Waldrop and wife Debby of Bellingham, Washington, Dennis Waldrop and wife Maggie of Duluth, Minnesota, Lauren Klein of Iowa, Louisiana, and Kevin Klein and wife Simone of Dothan, Alabama; grandchildren, Brennan Travis of Johnson City, TN, Ashton Klein and Morgan Klein, both of Dothan, Alabama, Erin Yaap and husband Erik of Bellingham, Washington, April Jordan-Hulsey and husband Bradley of Marysville, Washington, Summer Waldrop, Amber Waldrop, Jesse Waldrop-Birch, and Rosemary Waldrop, all of Minnesota; and sisters, Rita Magnum of Sugarland, Texas, Doris Mikolas of Beasley, Texas, and Debbie Harrover of Gold Canyon, Arizona. He is proceded in death by his parents, Jeff and Loyce Fuselier, and by his first wife, Rose.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 14, 2020, at University Baptist Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Mr. Jeff Bell will officiate. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 1:00 p.m. Private entombment will be at Consolata Cemetery at a later date. Due to precautions related to the ongoing pandemic, services will be limited to family members only, with a larger audience to be invited to a memorial service tentatively planned for next year.
Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Cancer Society.
The family would like to express their grateful appreciation for the compassionate care given their beloved Allen to Dr. Michael Bergeron and his nurse Pam of Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, Dr. David Fogleman and Dr. Brandon Smaglo of M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston and his case manager, Morgan, from Heart of Hospice in Lake Charles.
In accordance with current COVID-19 guidelines, it is requested that attendees wear masks and respect social distancing when attending the service.

LACASSINE — Larry James Guidry, born on February 26, 1949, son of the late Alex and Edith (LaBauve) Guidry, passed away in his residence on Thursday, December 10, 2020, at the age of 71.
Larry was a graduate of Lacassine High School and a self-employed contractor/carpenter/rancher. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist in Lacassine. Larry was a simple man who loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren and 1 great- grandchild. He enjoyed most out of life working, building and playing with his cows. Being on the farm was his passion.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Linda Foreman Guidry; sons, Jody Guidry (Virginia); Jeremy Guidry (Leslie) and Joel Guidry (Marcela); siblings, Gerald Guidry (Jovita); Ricky Guidry (Trisha); Paul Lynn Guidry (Celena); Ella Thayer (Herb); precious grandchildren, Katelyn; Cade; Hayley (Dylan); Kameron; Macey; Anna; Elena and Cristina and great- grandchild, Brookelyn.
Funeral services will be held in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 12 p.m. with Monsignor James Gaddy, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Friday in Johnson and Brown Funeral Home from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a Celebration of Life at 6 p.m. and resume on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m.

Betty Jean Jackson, 84 of Lake Charles, LA passed away on December 9, 2020. Ms. Jackson was born in Jena, LA and has lived in Lake Charles the last 66 years.
She was preceded in death by her son, Ronald “Ronnie” Mancil; daughter-in-law, Susan Mancil of Baytown, TX.
Ms. Jackson is survived by son, Robert Mancil of Baytown, Tx; two daughters, Renee Mancil and Robyn Breaux and husband Randy of Lake Charles, LA; two sisters, Gwen MaCartney and husband Gary of Trout, LA and Bobbye White and husband Fairel of Nixa, MO; three grandsons, Roger “Kelly” Langley and wife Pam of Lake Charles, LA, Jake Langley and wife Claudia of Corpus Christi, TX and Devin Abshire and fiancé Allison of Lafayette, LA; five great grandchildren

Mary Alice Monteilh Leger, 79, of Sulphur passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020.
She was our hero. She was a beloved wife, mother, teacher, caretaker, and an avid dog whisperer. Granny loved nothing more than cooking a big meal and having a family celebration.
She graduated from Palmetto High, a 12-year school. She went on to USL and received a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She continued her education in the field of Special Education. She was married to Bryan Leger, Sr. for 58 years and was the love of his life.
Her family included four children, Alicia & Bryan Hackett, Kathy & David Harbison, Bryan Leger, Jr., Missy and Marc Ivey. The grandchildren include: Jonathan& Tonie’ Smith, Patrick Harbison, Lindsey Leger & Layth Wahbeh, Mary Claire & Steven French, Lyndon Leger, Austin Smith, Thomas Harbison & Mason Smith. The great-grandchildren include: Hadley Kate, Blake, Wyatt and Miller.
She leaves behind her sister, Margaret Gibson and her brother, Dennis Monteilh and wife, Joyce along with many cherished nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the ER staff of West Cal-Cam Hospital for their excellence in care & kindness.

George W. Louviere Jr.
George W. Louviere Jr., 93 years young, passed away on Friday, December 4, 2020 in Lake Charles after a short illness. His funeral service will be held in Welsh at a time yet to be determined.
George was born on September 19, 1927 in Welsh to the late George W. Sr. and Iris Louviere. He attended school in Welsh and after serving in the Merchant Marines at the end of WWII, he married Rose Newman. They were happily married for over 65 years before she passed in 2013. He was a lifelong resident of Welsh and was active in the community including the former Fire Chief of the Welsh Volunteer Fire Department and a member and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He impacted the lives of many friends along his path of life in the community. Dad loved life and lived it to its fullest. He loved visiting with his family and friends, listening to Cajun music and working his yearly gardens! Although he had health issues, he had an amazing mind and memory of anyone he knew. He will be missed terribly.
His loving family includes: Ferdie Cooley, Bryan and Gerry Louviere, Julie and Ira Vinson, Dionne and Todd Hine and the late Wade Louviere. His grandchildren Shane Hebert, Troy and Sheila Hebert, Trevor and Stacie Louviere, Bruce Louviere, Lacy Vinson, Alex Vinson, and the late Jon Michael Humphery. His Great Grandchildren Nicholas Hebert, Gentry Hebert, Karli Hebert, Alex Humphery, Riley Humphery, Jacob Humphery, Kalli Vinson, Knox Vinson and Adelyn Louviere. Also his siblings: the late A.W. Louviere, Bobby Louviere, Peggy Calloway and the late Jimmy Louviere and all their many children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In loving memory his spirit will live in our hearts until we meet again!

David Rostin McMahon, age 81, a resident of DeQuincy, Louisiana passed away November 28, 2020;
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary McMahon; daughter, Jill Reynolds and husband, Dane; grandchildren, Huxton Reynolds, Jeffrey Crandle and Kristi Crandle and his son-in-law, Jeff Crandle.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lori McMahon Crandle; parents, David B. McMahon and Olive McMahon and sister, Frances Blackburn.

Anthony Curtis Miller
Anthony Curtis Miller, 62, transitioned on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020. He was the 5th child born to Mr. and Mrs. Roosevelt (Joyce Marie Spikes) Miller. Tony was a 1978 graduate of Washington Marion High School. He attended Southern University of Baton Rouge, LA. He worked for the city of Lake Charles as a Director for the Recreation Department at the Chennault Gym and was a volunteer Sheriffs Deputy for over 10 years. He played in the Lake Charles Men’s city league basketball. He conducted the youth basketball camp at the Chennault gym. He retired from Firestone after 22 years of service.
Tony continued working in the community. He volunteered with Tournament of the Stars working with children and supported them in different sport activities. He was a diehard Cowboy fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roosevelt (Joyce Marie Spikes); sibling, Roosevelt, Jr. (T-June) Miller.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving wife of 36 years, Matilda (Green) Miller; sisters, Hessie Marie Reed, Eva (Steve) Abraham, Beulah Hilts, Mary “T-Jack” Miller, Sarah ( Junius) “Mickey” Morgan; three brothers, Ronald (Marjorie) Lee Miller, Sr., Troy (Larryette) Malone, Ashley Spikes; mother-in-law, Joyce Marie Green; sister-in-laws, Loretha (Michael) Ned, Margaret Ward, and Alma Green; brother-in-laws, Jewel Green, Ray Charles Green, Clivis “Beadie” Green, Melvin Green, and Austin Latigue; Carol Poullard, Debbie (Johnathan) Anderson, Denise (Marcus) Boutte; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Bernice Thibodeaux Pitre
Bernice Thibodeaux Pitre was a dedicated mother who treasured her children. She was a caring grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, godmother, and friend with a genuine heart of gold.
God called her to be with him on December 5, 2020, at the age of 85 at her daughter’s home in South Florida. She was born to Clarence and Georgia Thibodeaux on October 8, 1935, in Mallet, Louisiana. She married James Pitre Jr. and in this union they had four children, Ann (Henderson) Williams of Lake Charles, Patricia Pitre of South Florida, Larry (Angie) Pitre of Lake Charles, and Donald (Mischelle) Pitre of Lake Charles.
Bernice loved saying the rosary, attending church services, spending time in the kitchen, preparing delicious meals for her family, having family gatherings, and going to bingo. These were among a few things that put smiles on her face.
She was a lifelong parishioner at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and a member of the Christian Mothers. During her life career, she worked at various places as a cook. She also did private work in homes and enjoyed sitting with the elderly that were homebound.
Her life was a living example of the Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 — “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”
She is preceded in death by her husband, James Pitre Jr., father, Clarence Thibodeaux, mother, Georgia Thibodeaux, brother, Joseph Edward Thibodeaux, and sister, Annie-Lee Kennerson.
She is the proud grandmother of nine who loved her dearly, Murphy, Kyla, Crystal, Megan, Courtney, Sara, Nicholas, Da’Sha and Janeika. Also cherishing her memory are her 12 great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Montrae, Khalil, Maleah, Jaylin, Khilee, Zane, Caden, Alex Jr., Kade, Lexani, and Kenzie.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2020, at 9:00 a.m., a rosary at 11:00 a.m., at King’s Funeral Home and funeral service at 12:00 p.m., at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of King’s Funeral Home.

Charles Lee Smith
Charles Lee Smith passed safely into the arms of his Savior on December 10, 2020 at the age of 82.
Charles Lee married his high school sweetheart, Annie Jane Dunn Smith and stayed married to her for 63 years before her passing. He wanted everyone to know he loved and cherished his family most of all. Back in the day, Charles Lee was known as “Choo Choo Charlie” and he was a true Tiger!
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Annie Jane Dunn Smith; his only son, Sonny Smith and his only grandchild, Jamie Lynne Cooper; parents, Joe and Anita Smith; and his brother, Sam Smith.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving daughter, Corliss Cooper and husband, Bryan, who he thought the world of, along with his sister-in-law, Paralee Smith and numerous nieces and nephews.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

John E. Sorrells, Jr., M.D.
John E. Sorrells, Jr., M.D., passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020 in Lafayette, Louisiana where he had been since evacuating for Hurricane Laura.
He was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana on September 26, 1937, he was 83 years old. He was a graduate of Lagrange High School and went to Louisiana College and McNeese State University. He graduated Medical School at the Louisiana State University Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1965. After completing medical school, he served in the United States Army as a Captain and was stationed in San Antonio and later transferred to Shreveport, Louisiana. He then moved his family to his hometown of Lake Charles, Louisiana where he set up his solo Ophthalmology practice. He eventually joined the Eye Clinic of Lake Charles until he retired shortly after the passing of his bellowed wife of 49 years, Marlene.
Dr. Sorrells was an avid outdoorsman who cherished passing on those traditions to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was also a musician and loved playing the trumpet in the Lake Charles Community Band. He was a long-time member of the family at St. John’s Lutheran Church where he also played and sang in the choir. He was actively involved in Scouting and strived to live by the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
Dr. Sorrels was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene Sorrells, his parents, Dr. John E. Sorrells and Bertha Gwin Sorrells, his brother, Robert Sorrells and his daughter-in-law, Donna Hannon Sorrells.
He is survived by his sister, Gwin Sorrells Jones and her husband, The Reverend Ross Jones. He is also survived by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They are Cynthia Rice and her husband Jay Rice, John E. Sorrells, III, Teddy Paul Sorrells and his wife Kelly Speed Sorrells. His grandchildren are Cynthia’s son Jason Barton and his wife Amanda Barton, Stephanie Dunker and her husband Jeremy Dunker, and Ted and Kelly’s sons Hayden Paul Sorrells and Ashton John Sorrells. His great grandchildren are Jason and Amanda’s children Bryce Barton and Elyse Barton and Stephanie and Jeremy’s children Ethan Dunker and Abigale Dunker.
The family would like to thank their dear friend Barbara Marshall for her years of service with the family and especially her care for dad. The family would also like to thank his recent caregivers, Travis Celestine, Karmyn Robertson, Nita Trailer and Mary Thibeaux along with the nurses and staff of St. Joseph’s Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to the Lake Charles Community Band and/or St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her husband Welton Thomas, her mother Doffus Fields Johns, her father Zeno Johns and four sisters: Helen Grace Frank, Bertha Jo Johns Davis, Thelma Elizabeth Johns Dunn, and Gladys Deshotel. Also preceded in death were her three step-sons, Terry Glenn Thomas, Carl Thomas, Curley Ray Thomas.
Interment will be at Ninth Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Ville Platte, La.

On Monday, December 8, 2020, Jane Ann Jinks Williams passed away peacefully in Lake Charles, Louisiana, where she was a lifelong resident. She was the daughter of Mary Jane and Norman S. Jinks, Sr. and a graduate of the Class of 1958 at LaGrange High School. On June 4, 1960, she married the love of her life Philip Gregg Williams, Jr. and recently celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary. Upon graduation, Jane Ann worked as a dental assistant for C. Richmond Corley, DDS, then worked for the body shop on Kirkman Street for many years, and the last 35 years in the mental health profession and loved her coworkers like family. If you had the pleasure of knowing our beloved mother, you fell in love with her. She had more patience than most, loved with her entire heart, and would make you a meal that would provide memories to last a lifetime. She hosted most holidays in her home and made the best Cornbread Dressing, Chicken and Dumplings and Carrot Cake! She had a green thumb and loved being outside with her flowers and plants. She was a member of Heritage Baptist Church where she enjoyed weekly gatherings with her friends and loved every Sunday worship service!
Her family was her greatest treasure. Jane is survived by her son, Philip Gregg Williams, III, daughter, Kellee Jane Williams Louviere and husband, Mark, granddaughter, Kristin Elizabeth Louviere and grandson, Ryan Joseph Louviere. She is also survived by her brother, Norman S. Jinks, Jr., her sisters, Lillian Phillips and Norma May, numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved as her own.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Jane and Norman S. Jinks, Sr. and her husband, Philip Gregg Williams, Jr.
Services will be under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles, on Saturday, December 12, 2020, at 11:00 – 12:00 for family under the Governor’s Orders but extended family and friends are welcome to pay their respects to Jane Ann by driving through at graveside at Highland Memory Gardens around 1:00 pm.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Ron Lewis, Amanda Burnett, NP, the nurses and caregivers at LCMH and Harbor Hospice for the loving care of our mother.

Reagan Womack
Reagan Womack, 27, died December 1, 2020 in Austin, Texas with his family by his side. He was born on December 29, 1992 in Austin and lived his early years in Lake Charles, LA. The family moved back to Austin in 2006 where Reagan attended Lake Travis and made many lifelong friends.
He is survived by his son, Jack Womack, maternal parents, David and Carol Hebert Womack, brothers, Marshall and Garrett Womack, and grandparents, Richard and Shirley Hebert. He was preceded in passing by his other paternal grandparents, Dr. Ralph Womack and Marge Womack, and Jack’s mother, Mollie Morgan.
We mourn the loss of Reagan who was a loving father, brother, and son gone too soon. He was passionate about writing, singing, and producing music, but his most treasured moments were with his 4 year old son, Jack, who loved to sing and dance to his Dad’s music.
Reagan fearlessly pursued every business venture, enjoyed working out, and helping others reach their health goals. He majored in Kinesiology and worked as a certified fitness trainer before producing music. He was a member of the Baptist faith and attended Austin Ridge Church. Reagan lived life to the fullest and every stranger he met was a friend.
We want to celebrate his life as he always did. The celebration of life service will be held at Sale Street Baptist Church on Saturday, December 12th at 2:00.
