Funeral service for John Andrew Brignac, 82, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020, St. Henry Catholic Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Mausoleum under the direction of Stevens’ Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday at noon.
Alethia Marie Bryant
On Friday, Oct. 30, 2020, Alethia Marie Dejean Bryant, a loving wife and mother passed away at the age of 53.
Alethia was born Jan. 27, 1967, to the late Kerry Dejean and Patrica Dejean Henney. She worked for the Calcasieu School Board for 15 years. On Aug. 27, 1994, she married Talmadge Bryant to this union; two sons were born, Talmadge Jr. and Kerry Bryant. Alethia was a very caring person. She was always there with a helping hand for others in need. She loved French dancing and the casino. Alethia was preceded in death by her father, Kerry Dejean; stepfather, Donald Henney; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Preston and Gladys Leger, Mr. and Mrs. Freddie and Willie Mae Dejean; an aunt that raised her, Vivan Valerie; and four sons.
Alethia is survived by her husband, Talmadge Sr.; two sons, Talmadge Jr. and Kerry of Lake Charles; stepdaughter, Stephanie Rankin; four grandchildren; six godchildren; her mother, Patricia Henney of Lake Charles; brother, Brian and Twion Dejean of Tupelo, Miss.; stepbrother, Ronald and Kim Henney; five stepsisters, Lisa and Cedric (late) Rupert, Ronda and Meggie Griffin, Tammy and Gerad Steven, Yolanda and Huey (late), Patricia and Nathan Siverand; four brothers-in-law, Anthony and Tracey Bryant, Ross Bryant, Almer Bryant, Craig and Lisa Bryant, and Angela Johnson, all of Lake Charles; Helen Henney, who treated her like a daughter; a special Uncle, Charlie and Catherine Leger; and Mr. and Mrs. Willie Valerie; and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nephews, Nieces and Cousin.
Visitation will be Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. in Combre Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020, at 10 a.m. in Combre Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of Combre Funeral Home.

Ellis Thomas Charles Jr. was born on July 14th, 1994 to his parents Tracasa Green-Prayor and Ellis Thomas Charles Sr. in Lake Charles, La.
Ellis is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Easton and Grace Charles, and his sisters Shameka and Megan Green. He leaves to cherish his memory, his parents Tracasa Green-Prayor of Lithonia, Ga and Ellis Thomas Charles Sr. of Lake Charles, La, his grandparents Herbert and Ida Green of Lake Charles, La., four brothers, Jamelle J. Daniels(Ciera), Jarrin O. Golden, Jadrick K. Golden(Faren)and Jacory E. Charles, all of Lake Charles, La, 1 sister Alexia G. Charles of Lake Charles, La, Stepmom Cynthia D. Charles of Lake Charles, La, Godmother Felicia Granger of Lake Charles, La, fiancé Portia Deann of Houston, Tx and special mom Regina Rankins(Douglas) of Lake Charles, La. along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Delvin Pierre Cunningham Jr.
Delvin (D.J.) Cunningham Jr., 32, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2020, in Houston, Texas, at a local hospital. He worked for Best Buy in the Geek Squad as an electronic technician in Houston, Texas.
D.J. was born in Columbia, S.C., to Delvin and Judith Cunningham Sr. He recently received his M.B.A. from Western Governors University. DJ was a member of Alpha Phi Omega fraternity.
He was preceded in death by his father, Delvin Cunningham Sr.; paternal grandmother; maternal grandfather, Robert Lee Bartie Sr.
Leave to cherish his loving memory mother, Judith Cunningham; grandmother, Mamie Bartie; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Lydia Ann Doucet, 62, of Orange, Texas, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, at home. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, in Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. Burial will be in East Cemetery in Vinton.

Stephen Ellis, 63, of Lake Charles, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, in a local healthcare facility. Family will gather at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020, at Prien Lake Park boat launch with a sunset tribute to Stephen to begin at 5:20 p.m.

Verna Dee LeDoux Foreman, 77, of Lake Charles, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, in a local hospital. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, at Lake City Baptist Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Interment will be in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation Monday will be from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and will continue Tuesday at 8 a.m. in the church.
Richard Michael Sohrwide II
Richard Michael Sohrwide II, 54, of Lake Charles, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, at home. Funeral service will be noon today, Nov. 6, at University Baptist Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery.
Joseph E. “Pete” Stout
Joseph Earl “Pete” Stout, 93, native of Lake Charles, La., passed away on Nov. 2, at his home with his daughter and her family in Springfield, Mo.
Pete was born in Lake Charles to Charles Earl Stout and Mabel Farque Stout on May 27, 1927. He graduated from Marion High School. He joined the Lake Charles Police Department in 1948 as a patrolman and in 1950 was promoted to Sergeant in the Patrol Division. On Dec. 7, 1951, he married Dora Elaine Cole and soon married Dora Elaine Cole and together they had one daughter, Martha Jane who they cherished.
He was transferred to the Detective Division in 1953 and was promoted to Captain in 1956. In 1965 he was appointed Chief of Police. In 1968 he graduated from the 80th Class of the FBI academy.
During his tenure he was instrumental in the construction of the, state of the art, police station at 830 Enterprise Blvd. Chief Stout was a member of the Louisiana Peace Officers Association, Louisiana Peace Officer’s Association, Southwest Louisiana Peace Officer’s Association, International Association of Chief’s of Police, and a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge # 8.
After his retirement as Chief in December of 1974, he and his wife moved to Baton Rouge in the summer of 1975. Because of his longtime police service Chief Stout was sought out as a consultant by many law enforcement agencies. He eventually was asked to become a member of the State Department of Probation and Parole, later becoming Chairman.
In 1999, Pete and Elaine moved to Springfield, Mo., to be closer their daughter and her family. Elaine passed away in Springfield in 2001. Pete moved back to Louisiana to continue working with the Louisiana Department of Public Safety, as a member of the Louisiana Highway Highway Safety Commission After 68 year career in law enforcement, Pete retired for his final time and in March of 2018, Pete moved once more back to Missouri to spend his last years with family. Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mabel Farque Stout; his half-brother, Eugene Broussard of Moss Bluff; his nephew, Charles Broussard; his wife, Dora Elaine Cole Stout (or MaLaine as called by her grandchildren).
Pete (or PaPete as known by his grandchildren) is survived by his daughter, Martha Jane Stout Carson, her husband, Edward Keith Carson, and his four granddaughters, Amanda Christine Carson, Danielle Nicole Carson, Caroline Renee Carson, Stephanie Leigh Carson Stark, her husband Benjamin Major Stark, and nieces and nephews.
Funeral service for Chief Stout will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at University Baptist Church. Visitation will be from noon until time of services at the church. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
