Kenneth Lynn Bellard Sr., 68, of Dayton, Texas, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, at home. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, in Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens.

Wilma Dianne Wesley Brocato succumbed to our LORD on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2020.

Dianne was born July 10, 1943 in Elizabeth, La. She lived most of her life in Lake Charles and Grand Lake and the past 25 years in Moss Bluff. She was a graduate of LaGrange Senior High School and attained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at McNeese State University. She was elected President of Phi Mu Sorority, Outstanding Sorority Member and was named Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities. She was a member of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. Following her marriage to her college sweetheart, Frank Brocato, Mrs. Brocato began her nursing career in Slidell, was responsible for the migrant workers in Springdale, Ark. and was a teacher and part-time nurse for five years in Delta Junction, Alaska. She and Frank returned home to Louisiana where she worked 27 years for Lake Charles Memorial Hospital in Pediatrics, devoting most of her time to the Home Health program. She enjoyed painting watercolor on her own and with her class, the “Drew Park Art Club”. She was a lady, of faith and prayer, active, who alongside with her husband, was active in serving the Catholic Church, volunteering where needed at St. Mary of the Lake, Chapel of St. Patrick and St. Theodore Catholic Church. They also served seven times as mentor couple presenters for young couples’ marriage encounters and many years of Catholic retreats. Mrs. Brocato also enjoyed traveling; Italy in 2002 and the Holy Land in 2018 being her favorite trips. Her greatest times were spent with Frank, her children and her grandchildren, as she was always their greatest fan and followed them all to every event possible. Mrs. Brocato selflessly devoted her life and her love to each member of her still growing family.

Those left to carry out her legacy of kindness and love, her husband of 55 years, Dr. Frank James Brocato Sr. of Moss Bluff; son, “J” Frank James Brocato Jr. (Jennifer) of Lake Charles; four daughters, Kallyn Benoit (Kerry) of Moss Bluff, Brandé Reiter (Chris) of Stafford, Va., Cottie Judice (Sky) of Belle Chasse and Bonnie Ramsey (Jason) of Moss Bluff and son, Bret Wesley Brocato of Lake Charles; 12 grandchildren, Jordin Smith (Rickey), Morgan Brocato, Laura Carpenter (Trey), Megan Cain (Ariel), Nicholas Benoit, Joel Reiter, Alessi Reiter, Christopher Mouton, Madison Mouton, Maci Judice, Jace Ramsey and Cadence Ramsey; eight great-grandchildren; and brother, John Wesley (Terri) of Houston, Texas and two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Harris of Houston, Texas and Linda Brocato of Lake Charles. She also leaves lots of nieces and nephews, extended family and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Douglas Wesley and her mother, Juanita Young Wesley.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, 2020 at St. Theodore Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Father Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate. Interment services will follow at Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Friday will be from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary beginning at 6 p.m. in the funeral home. Visitation Saturday will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service in the church.

Raymond “Ray” Chavis, 84, of Lake Charles, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, in a local hospital. Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today, Aug. 21, at Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Due to Covid-19, there will be no repass at this time. In compliance with the current COVID 19 order, we respectfully request gatherings be limited and all attendees wear face masks.

SULPHUR – Jerry Durell Denton Jr., 70, passed away Aug. 14, 2020.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Sulphur. He worked as a roustabout in the oil field, and also worked as a security guard, and in construction. Jerry enjoyed fishing and hunting, and had a great love for family and our Lord Jesus Christ. He loved ushering at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where he was a parishioner. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 8322.

Survivors include his brother, John Ross Denton and wife, Kathleen Denton; brother-in-law, Eugene Williams and wife, Ginger Williams; nephews, Cody Durell Denton and his son, Weston John Denton, Mike Williams and wife, Tanya, and their daughters, Alex, Kate and Eden Williams, Chad Williams and wife, Kim, and their sons, Evan, Elliot, Drew, Dylan, Quinn and Cameron Williams; nieces, Gina Williams Baccigalopi and husband, Glenn, and their daughter, Chelse B. Willis, and Bobbie Jo Wilcox, and her kids, Jesse Bowman, Hannah Wilcox and Kasey Wilcox; and family friend, Sandy Hoffner Trahan. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jerry Durell Denton Sr. and Nettie Ann Salvaggio Denton; and sister, Sandra Ann Denton Williams.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sulphur. The Rev. Timothy Goodly will officiate. Burial will be in Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly under the direction of Hixson Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to a local animal shelter in his memory. Shelvin Ann Fontenot-Mouton, 65, departed this life, on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2020, at Houston Hospice in Houston, Texas. She was born on Sept. 22, 1954, to Manuel Fontenot and Joanna Tezeno-Fontenot in Lake Charles, La. She worked at Boeing Aircraft as an aircraft mechanic.

She leaves to mourn her children, Michael Mouton of Lake Charles, La., Tenisha Mouton (Emmade) Rasul of Richmond, Texas, and Patrick (Tamara) Mouton of Lake Charles, La.; two sisters, Linda Fontenot of Lake Charles, La. and Mary Anderson of Leesville, La.; seven grandchildren, Patrick Mouton, DaLana Mouton, Emmade Rasul III, Tyler Mouton, Taylor Mouton, Jaylon Mouton and Rhiya Rasul; two great-grandchildren, Masen Mouton and Korey Mouton and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel Fontenot and Joanna Tezeno-Fontenot; her husband, Paul P. Mouton III; one brother, Manuel Glenn Fontenot and one nephew, Corey Fontenot.

Russell Joseph Gautreaux Sr., 77, a resident of Lake Charles, passed from this life on Aug. 19, 2020, in a local hospital.

Mr. Gautreaux was a successful insurance sales agent for many years and served with honor in the U.S. Navy.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents, George Gautreaux and Hazel Girouard Faulk; stepfather, Riley Faulk; brother, George Gautreaux Jr.; niece, Katie Gautreaux.

He is survived by his two sons, Russell Joseph Gautreaux Jr. and Kevin Gautreaux and wife Pam; daughter, Colleen Ann Gautreaux; stepdaughter, Tina Fontenot; grandchildren, Kameron Quesenberry and husband Winston, Morgyn Trahan and husband Trevor, Blake Broussard, Kayleigh Gautreaux and Shantel Cain; five great-grandchildren; sister, Nellie Ann Chargois; and long-time friend, Hazel Harris.

In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Gautreaux will be cremated, and no service will be held.

Vernie “Bonny” Guillory Sr., 83, was born on Sept. 4, 1936, in Lake Charles, La., and moved to Baton Rouge in 1963. Bonny owned many businesses, including Guillory’s Paint and Body Shop for 36+ years and Capital City Auto Auction. He gained his wings on Monday, Aug. 17, 2020, after dying from natural causes. He was surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Audrey Lyles Guillory. His children, Renee Guillory Godley, Vernie “Brother” Guillory Jr., Michelle Guillory, and Eric Guillory. His grandchildren, Amber Hoffmann, wife of Brian Hoffmann, Courtney Thaxton, Meagan Melancon, Logan Guillory, and Ryan Guillory. His great-grandkids, Brooklyn, Kinsley, Paxton, Karsyn, Rowyn, and Bonnie Marie. He was preceded in death by his parents; Issac and Hazel Guillory of Lake Charles and his five brothers, Dallas, Alan, Horace, “LD” and Harry Guillory. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2020, at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy, Gonzales, LA 70737 from 4-6 p.m.with a memorial at 6 p.m.

Milford Henry Reed Jr.

On Monday, Aug. 17, 2020, in the peaceful hours of a new day, Milford Henry Reed Jr. was elevated to a new status. He left this earthly existence and took flight to his spiritual reward and life everlasting.

Milford Henry Reed Jr., 64, was born March 19, 1956, to the late Milford Henry Reed Sr. and Bessie Ann Reed.

Milford was a 1974 graduate of Edmondson High School in Baltimore, Md. After graduation, he served in the Maryland National Guard for a year before he enlisted in the U.S. Army. While serving at Fort Polk, La., he met the love of his life and made Louisiana his home. Milford served as a J.D. Parish Police Juror. He was employed by Jeff Davis Electric Co-Op for 25 yrs.

On Oct. 17, 1992, he married Nordell Sanders, the “Love of his Life” and became the bonus father to Keishawna and on Aug. 12, 1994, Danielle was born. Nordell became a bonus mother to D’kissy.

Milford was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church of Jennings, pastored by the Rev. Gerald Perkins, where he served as a deacon. He was a member of the Masons.

Milford leaves to mourns his loving and devoted wife, Nordell, daughters, Dkissy Bristow (Travis), Keishawna Davis (Alvin) and Danielle Reed; five grandsons, Travis, Alvin, Jamell, Cameron and Kyson; one granddaughter, Payton; three sisters, Esther Johnson, Mildred Reed, Linda Reed all of Baltimore, Maryland; a host of other family members and friends.

A public viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Union Baptist Church, 1014 S. Main St., Jennings, La., following Social Distancing Guidelines. A private funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, in the church.

The Rev. Gerald Perkins Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Peterson Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary. Graveside Military Honors will be accorded.

IOWA — Walter L. Soileau Jr., beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, friend and brother in blue, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2020, at the age of 62.

Walter was born Sept. 14, 1957, and was the son of the late Walter L. Soileau, Sr. and Irma Sisom Soileau. Walter worked with the Cameron Parish Sheriff’s Office as a bailiff, drug court officer, misdemeanor probation officer and process server.

Frank Hendrix Tyler III, 44, passed in his sleep on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2020 in West Monroe, La. Frank, son of Frank Hendrix Tyler and Sandy Johnson Matthews was born on Jan. 17, 1976, in Kingsville, Texas.

Frank graduated from East Beauregard High School. He was an industrial pipe welder and supervisor, working primary in the Gulf Coast area.

Left to cherish his memory are his father Frank H. Tyler; mother, Sandy Matthews; step-mother, Debra Tyler; children, Owen Tyler, Gage Tyler, Karsyn Tyler, and their mother Jamie Brooks; his mother-in-law, Delores Owens; his brothers, Christopher Tyler and wife Lana, Benny Tyler and wife Emma, Aubery Warren Matthews; and his sister, Kaitlin Bellard and husband James.

Sarah May Whitehead

Sarah May Martin Whitehead, 79, of Lake Charles, La., died at 8:54 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2020 in a Houston, Texas hospital.

Mrs. Whitehead was born May 1, 1941 in Philadelphia, Miss., and was a 1959 graduate of Neshaba Central High School and East Central Jr. College. She followed her husband’s career, moving to Ragley in 1976 and then to Lake Charles a year later. Mrs. Whitehead was a longtime member of Sale Street Baptist Church. She had a love for traveling, especially to the Smokey Mountains and could often be found at their camp at Toledo Bend or floating around her pool. She also enjoyed fishing and sitting in the deer stand with her husband. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who will be missed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Whitehead is survived by her husband of 59 years, Doice Whitehead of Lake Charles; daughters, Tina Nation and husband Roger and Kim Kingsley and husband Bill, all of Lake Charles; sisters, Jo Tadlock of Pelahatchie, Miss. and Dorris Hataway and husband James of Meridian, Miss.; brother, Jerry Martin of Pelahatchie, Miss.; grandchildren, Evan Kingsley and wife Mary, Bryce Kingsley and wife Katilyn, Garrett Keeney and wife Meredith, Cody Keeney, and Brandon Keeney; great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Caroline, William, and Graham; two great-grandsons on-the-way; and numerous close friends and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emit and Alma Martin; brothers, Ted and John Martin; and a great-grandchild, Julia Keeney.

Her funeral service will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2020 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverends Greg Bath and Kent Shepherd will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the start of the service.

Kay Wrigley Wynn

Kay Wrigley Wynn, 77, a resident of Lake Charles, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Aug. 18, 2020, in a local hospital.

Known as Mom, Nanny, or Kay, she will be forever remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, devoted wife, and loyal friend. Mrs. Wynn graduated from SOWELA Tech with a Secretarial Certificate and continued her studies at McNeese State University, the University of Houston, and the College of Mainland in Texas City, Texas where she earned an associate degree in English. She was an active member of Sale Street Baptist Church, where she was proud to teach Sunday School. She was a woman of unwavering faith. Kay owned a well-worn bible and could quote it nearly line by line. It was important to her and her husband to lead people to Christ, she selflessly devoted herself to the care of her beloved husband Billy in his last days. Nanny loved spending time with her family, and her family was the apple of her eye. Mrs. Wynn was an avid reader and loved to work outside in her garden area. Along with caring for her husband and family, Mrs. Wynn also worked as a bookkeeper for Theriot, Milford, and Dunn, The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, and finally for Gray Plantation.

Mrs. Wynn is preceded in death by her parents, Olen Neil and Neely Authement Wrigley; step-mother, Violet Guillory Wrigley; husband of 39 years, William Wynn; son, Don Trahan; step-daughter, Lorraine Wynn; brother, Maurice Wrigley; half-brothers, Jimmy Wrigley and Charles Washburn.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory, her two sons; Terry Trahan and wife Nikki and Tony Trahan; step-son, Willy Wynn, and wife Vickie; step-daughter, Natalie Fontenot and husband Lionel; step-sisters, Altha Alexander, Teena Hebert, and Kelli Sargent, 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the loving and compassionate staff of I.C.U at Christus St. Patrick Hospital for their superb care of Mrs. Wynn.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2020, in the sanctuary of Sale Street Baptist Church from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. A celebration of Kay’s life will follow at 11 a.m. Mrs. Wynn will be laid to rest with her husband at a later date.

Willis Mendel (Bill) Young passed from this life into the arms of his heavenly Father on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2020 at the age of 81.

He was born on Feb. 19, 1939 in Russellville, Ky. to Samuel and Felicia Young.

He joined the US Army on Feb. 20, 1962, which brought him to Fort Polk, La. where he met and married his wife of 56 years, Carol Howard Young. After his Honorable discharge from the Army on Jan. 31, 1968 he held several different jobs before he went to work for Beauregard Electric CO-OP. He retired after 28 ½ years of dedicated service.

Along with being an excellent electrician he was also a master woodworker and craftsman. He was probably best known for his mouthwatering brisket that he would cook for family get-togethers and celebrations.

His home was the gathering place for everyone in the family and many friends. His back porch was a favorite site for family visits, endless cups of coffee and advice. There were many family gatherings and family Christmas celebrations at his home. He was always available for his family and never missed a special occasion. He unselfishly helped others in many different ways, including gardening advice, changing flat tires, lending his tools, creating specialty items, as well as participating in a mission trip to Mexico.

Those left to cherish his memory, along with his wife, are his brothers John (Kari) Young and William “Bill” (Alice) Young, both of San Diego, Calif.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Peggy Howard, Sallie and Ricky Marze and Dale and Shirley Howard and a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom he treated as his own children.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Nina Smith and his brother, Kenneth Young.

He will be missed by many.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2020 from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m., all at Myers Colonial Funeral Home Chapel in DeRidder, La. Brother Dale Allen Howard will officiate the service. Pall Bearers are Aaron Howard, Cade Marze, Ricky Marze, Tim Kyle, Harmon Lambert, and Larry Howard. Honorary Pall Bearer is Cord Ensminger. Burial will be at Rosepine Cemetery in Rosepine, La.
