Terrel James Breaux, 63, of Lake Charles passed away, Thursday, Aug. 6, 2020 in the comfort of his home.

Mr. Breaux was born and raised in Lake Charles. He was a graduate of LaGrange Senior High School where he was a talented Boxer and Baseball player with leagues of his peers. He worked in the Construction Industry, following his career path across the country to Ohio, Florida, West Virginia before making Lake Charles his home again in 1996. He retired a Project Manager with twenty years of service to Shaw/Aptim. Mr. Breaux had three great loves: his wife, his daughter and motorcycles. He enjoyed working on them and currently had plans to build his own until he found the latest of his collection, the K-9 bigdog. He loved to ride, enjoyed the company of friends and was a social butterfly.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 44 years, Susan Ogea Breaux of Lake Charles; one daughter, Lauren Breaux and husband Keith Burnstein of New Orleans; mother, Audrey Newman Breaux of Lacassine; two sisters, Carolyn Fontenot and husband Byron of Lake Charles and Cindy Beville and husband Claude of the Baytown, TX area; one brother, Brian Breaux and wife Susie of Lake Charles; two nieces, Misty Stevens and Chloe Beville; two nephews, Jason Fontenot and Adam Beville and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dalton Joseph Breaux.

A celebration of his life will be held sometime in the future when family and friends are able to gather again.

Visitation for Katina Marisa Sharelle “Tina” Ceasar, 42, will be Monday, Aug. 10, 2020 from 11 a.m. with her funeral following at 1 p.m. at The Lord’s Outreach. Burial will be in Combre Memorial Park. Katina departed this life Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2020 in Lake Charles.

Kathleen F. Cook was born on April 10, 1949 and left for her Heavenly home on August 6, 2020. She spent her entire life in the Lake Charles area. Kathy attended Lake Charles High, where she was a member of the Kilties marching squad. She graduated from McNeese State University, and went on to work in the registrar’s office for more than three decades. Kathy had a bubbling personality with a ‘get-the-job-done’ attitude. No one could find a more generous wife, mother, grandmother or friend.

Her greatest earthly pleasures were her children and grandchildren. She spent endless hours nurturing, teaching and caring for them. Her motto was children first. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Moss Bluff where she took great pleasure in fellowship and bible study with her Sunday School class. Her trust in the Lord was stronger than the cancer that many times tried to hold her down but could not, and does not today.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband William “Bubba” Cook; son Brian Cook with wife Stacy; son Jason Cook with wife Maggie; grandsons Liam Cook, Graham Cook and Cameron Cook; granddaughter, Ainsley Cook; brother Michael Farris with wife Kathy, sister Evangeline “Cookie” Boullion with husband Kenny; sister-in-law Jeanine Morgan; nephew Don Morgan; nephew Todd Boullion with wife Tori, daughter Chloe and son Cade; nephew Nicolas Farris; niece Hollie Miller with husband Travis and son Logan; niece Allison Stoll with husband Jeremy; niece Julia Krafka with husband Brody.

The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to Dr. Mark Williams, Dr. David Landry, Dr. Michael Bergeron, and Mrs. Alicia LaRocque for their wonderful care and compassion.

Services will be at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff. Visitation at 10 a.m. until the start of service at 2 p.m.

James W. “Jim” Desormeaux

James Wesley “Jim” Desormeaux, 80, of Reeves passed away Thursday, Aug. 6, 2020 in a local hospital.

Mr. Desormeaux was a native of Hayes, La and has lived most of his life in Houston, Texas and Lake Charles, La. He served in the United States Navy while stationed in Japan. Following his service, he worked in the construction industry. He retired with 30 years of service as a Mail Carrier of the United States Postal Service. He also worked 27 years, part-time, collecting money at the gate and counting money inside for countless events at the Houston Astrodome, as well as taking an annual vacation to work the Houston Rodeo. Mr. Desormeaux was talented in wood working and carpentry. He enjoyed hunting trips with friends, as he tagged along to eat, drink and have a goodtime. He loved to ride; Honda Goldwing Sunday road trips, cross country travels and serving as a member of the Patriot Honor Guard. He was of Catholic faith. Mr. Desormeaux was an honorable man of faith and family.

He leaves to honor his memory, his wife, Sandra Dilts Desormeaux of Reeves; four children, Gale Evard (Terry) of Friendswood, Texas, Tony Guidry (Beth) of Pearland, Texas, Pamela Mixson of Humble, Texas, Rhonda Hickman (Kevin) of Houston, Texas; one brother, Curtis Desormeaux of Lake Charles; three step children, Angela Haught and husband Derrick of Lake Charles; Eric Armentor and wife Holly of Gretna and Donald Armentor and wife Dana of Lake Charles; sixteen grandchildren, Crystalyn Tolbert, Brannon Evard, Schlawyn Wood (Chuck), Latasha Michaliszyn (Matt), Patricia Sultan, Tony Guidry, Jr., Angela Mansfield (Nathan), Erik Ferrand, Ashton Armentor, Dante Haught, Zoey Haught, Tristan Armentor, Gavin Armentor, Paisley Armentor, Madalyn Armentor, and Kaylee Dufrene and eleven great-great grandchildren, Savannah Tolbert, Skylar Stockwell, Landon Stockwell, Madeleine Michaliszyn, Edwin Michaliszyn, Triston Bassett, Aariyan Sultan, Arsalan Sultan, Julia Mansfield, Myles Mansfield and Jillian Armentor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Celestine Sonnier Desormeaux; one brother, Allen Desormeaux; one sister, Betty Desormeaux Leger and one great grandchild, Juniper Ferrand.

Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, 2020 in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff. Deacon Michael Beverung will officiate. Interment will follow in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation Sunday will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a rosary beginning at 6 p.m. Visitation Monday will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service in the funeral home.

Leland Valery East, Sr.

His Master said, “Well done, good and faithful servant!” Matthew 5:23. Such was the life of Leland Valery East, Sr., age 83, who passed away at his home on Aug. 7, 2020 with his loving family by his side.

Mr. East was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, outdoorsman, and a man who cherished his faith as a member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church. He was born in Grand Chenier, La on March 13, 1937 to Morris and Mabel East. Leland graduated from Landry High School in 1955 and joined the Army National Guard, spending over 30 years in service to our nation. He retired from the Army National Guard with the rank of Command Sergeant Major. While serving our country in the National Guard, Mr. East also worked at Firestone as a foreman for over 40 years. In his younger years he was a feather weight boxer, played softball, and loved to bowl. As life went on, he became an avid outdoorsman. He particularly loved saltwater fishing and duck hunting.

As much as Leland loved serving our country and his career, he loved his wife of 63 years, Joy Keller East even more. He is survived by Joy, and out of their union came their children, daughter Donna Kiernan Carter and husband Darrell; Leland Valery East, Jr. and wife Jody. Mr. East is also survived by one brother, Jared East.

Leland was most proud of his four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. His grandchildren are Jessica Hicks, Brittany Moss, Courtney Fluitt, and Hayden East. The great grandchildren are Emma Hicks, Bryce Hicks, Jet Moss, London Moss, and Emory Fluitt.

Those family members who went on before Leland were his parents; Warren East (son), and Ronald East (brother). The family would like to say a special word of thanks to Harbor Hospice and Leland’s caregiver, Dayna Chapman.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at 10 am. Monsignor Jace Eskind will officiate. Visitation will be held on Monday evening, Aug. 10, 2020 from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home on Lake Street. A Knights of Columbus Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to Harbor Hospice. In accordance with the Governors Orders, social distancing, gathering and mask restrictions will be followed.

Bob Winston Guillory

Bob Winston Guillory, 76 of Hecker, La went to be with his Lord and Savior on Aug. 4, 2020. Bob was born at home on Sept. 6, 1943 to Murphy and Rose Mae (Reed) Guillory in Mamou, La. Bob attended public schools in Mamou. He loved competing in sports. In high school he was awarded All District and All Southwest honors in football and State Champion in Boxing. He was also a Louisiana Golden Glove silver medalist.

After briefly attending the University of Southwestern Louisiana, he served as an Aircraft Ordinanceman in the U.S. Navy for three years. While serving in the Navy, he met and married the love of his life Emma Lee Miller. They were married on Nov. 9th, 1963 and had three children. He attended Louisiana State University at Eunice and later graduated from McNeese State University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education. Bob’s love of learning led him to multiple career paths.

He began his work career at Guillory Air Conditioning with his brother Terrona. He then accepted a teaching position at Evangeline Academy in Vidrine, La. He served as Director of Public Service Employment in the federal JTPA program administered by the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury. Under his leadership the program was awarded the Highest Rated Public Service Program in Louisiana by the U. S. Department of Labor. He also worked as an operator at Cities Service Refinery. He finished his career at Boeing Louisiana Inc. and Louisiana Pigment Company.

During his career he counseled many people. In the early 1970’s he made a Cursillo and gave his life to Christ. He was always a humble man that loved the Lord and shared his faith with coworkers and friends, leading some to accept Christ as their Lord and Savior. After retirement Bob enjoyed spending time with his wife and family. He also enjoyed raising livestock.

He is survived by his wife Emma, son James Randall (Teri) Guillory, daughter Kimberly Faye (Steve) Benoit, daughter Krystyna Nicole (Eric) Lee, Goddaughter Melissa Ann (William) Cormier, grandchildren Randi Renee’ Angelle Guillory, Alexandra Rose Benoit, Hannah Noel Guillory, Brianna Gabrielle Guillory, Katheryn Elyse Benoit, Carrie Anne Cormier, Harper Billy Ryan Bunch, Cameron Elliott Bunch, Wesley Nolan Cormier, and Drew Brent Cormier, brothers Terrona Jean (Janice) Guillory, Vernon Joseph (Paula) Guillory, James Bennett Guillory and many nieces, nephews and special friends.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 11 at 2 p.m. at Highland Memory Gardens under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or New Life Counseling Pregnancy Services located at 631 East School Street, Lake Charles, La. 70607.

Rev George Guy

Rev George Guy , a resident of DeQuincy, La. was born Jan. 4, 1948, in Bude, Miss and passed away Aug. 5, 2020 at the age of 72. Prophet Guy preached all over the world. The love of his life was his wife, children and grandchildren but his passion was preaching the gospel, cooking and serving. He and his wife, Sybil pastored a church in Vidalia, La for 22 years and in 1991 they started evangelizing all over our nation and the entire world. Their ministry touched and changed the lives of so many people. He was known worldwide as a prophet. His heartbeat was reaching the lost and during their ministry they were instrumental in building churches in Mexico, the Philippines and Kenya.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sybil Burnett Guy; children, George Guy, Jr. and wife, Pam, Richard “Richy” Guy and wife, Trish, Shronda Miller and husband, Kenneth, Mistie Meaux and husband, Patrick and Nicky Guy. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ashley and husband, Jon, Cody, Kole, Kelsey and husband, Terry, Breanna and husband, Tyler, Jacob, Valerie, Colby, Beth, Sarah, Whitney and husband, Justin, Jayce and wife, Grace, Kadyn, Kira, Jhett, Rey, Randi, Dylan and Trinity; great grandchildren,Keagan, Landon, Jaxson, Brylin, Brenleigh, Kopelyn, Korbyn, Kensley, Kyler, River, Luci, Lily, Silas and Grayson.

He is also survived by his sister, Doris Kircher and husband, Johnny; brother, Jerry Holland and wife, Mary; his aunt/like a mother, Rev. Jean Holland and mother-in-law, Beulah Burnett, along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of worldwide friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles McAllister Guy and Sarah Holland Guy, grandson, Steffan Hardesty, grandparents, Rev. Wiley and Eula Holland and father-in-law, Rev M.D. Burnett.

Mike “Possum” Locklier

Michael David “Mike” Locklier, 65, of Lake Charles passed away Thursday, Aug. 6, 2020 in the comfort of his home.

Mr. Locklier was born in Houston, Texas. He lived most of his life in Houston, McComb, Ms and Lake Charles. He was a graduate of Lafayette High School and served in the United States Marine Corps. He worked nearly 17 years as an Operator for ExxonMobil. While in Mississippi, Mr. Locklier enjoyed raising horses and cows. Later years, he enjoyed playing PlayStation golf. His greatest love was traveling cross country with his wife on his Harley. Colorado being their favorite destination, the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally was amongst their most adventurous and the rides as a member of the Patriot Riders of Houston Honor Guard was his most privileged. Mr. Locklier had a witty spirit, often joking and poking fun, giving everyone a hard time that often ended in laughter. He will be most remembered for his smile.

He leaves to honor his memory, his wife, Catherine Ford Locklier of Lake Charles; three sons, Ronald Robertson, Eric Robertson and Derrick Robertson, all of Lake Charles; seven grandchildren, Eric Robertson, Christian Robertson, Destiny Robertson, Blake Robertson, Connor Robertson, Trae Robertson and Ashton Robertson and one sister, Debra Locklier Groth and husband Hayden of Lake Sam Rayburn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Joseph and Madeline Stubbs Locklier.

Julie “Jules” Ann Trahan Maust

Julie “Jules” Ann Trahan Maust passed away on Aug. 5, 2020, following a hard fought battle with ALS. Julie was born in Lake Charles on Aug. 4, 1968, and grew up in Crowley. She was a 1986 graduate of Notre Dame High School. Julie attended McNeese State University and worked in the technology industry at Bravo Networking, Didelot Consulting and spent many years at Our Lady Queen of Heaven School as network administrator. In recent years, she was active in the Barataria Mardi Gras Krewe and in fundraising for the Family Foundation and Family and Youth. She was also a member of the Lake Charles Racquet Club, founding member of the Shannon Cox Counseling Center, a division of Family and Youth, and a very active member of the Orange Theory of Lake Charles. She also attended Mass at the Chapel of Christus St. Patrick’s Hospital.

Jules was married to Dr. Jay R. Maust II and together they enjoyed many years of traveling, fishing, and watching Saints Football. She will also be greatly missed by her oldest daughter, Nadia Farque and her husband Jared of Ragley, by her youngest daughter, Hailey McPherson and her husband Jake of Atlanta, Ga.; and especially by her three grandchildren, Joey, Hayden, and Hadleigh Farque, with whom she shared some of her happiest times.

Additionally, Julie is survived by her mother, RoyLynn Trahan of Crowley; her in-laws, Dr. and Mrs. Jay Maust of San Antonio, Texas; her sisters, Andrea Trahan and her husband Dave of Crowley, Alice Frank and her husband Ted of Atlanta, Ga., and Jeanne Marcantel and her husband Jerome of Lake Charles; her two stepdaughters, London Maust Hannan and her husband Kyle of Gretna, and Sierra Maust of Austin, Texas; and two brothers-in-law, Dr. Jon Maust and his wife Mona of San Antonio, Texas, and Dr. Joel Maust of Dallas, Texas.

Julie was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Trahan; her grandparents, Marilyn and Harold Leleux, Roy Lionel Schexnyder, Anniss and Walter Trahan, and her former husband Darren Martin.

Serving as pallbearers are K.P. Gibson, Craig “Fat Cat” Henry, Danny Forest, Mark Myers, Zach Trahan, and Luke Hanks.

Visitation will be held at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2020, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a rosary prayed at 6 p.m. then again on Monday morning from 8 a.m. until the procession to the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Aug. 10, 2020, at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Lake Charles, with Father Brian King as celebrant. A private burial service will be celebrated at a later date, and interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley, La.

The family would like to thank Heart of Hospice and The Guardian for their compassionate care for Jules. Also, the family is forever grateful to so many others who helped, especially Elleanor Barilleaux, Emily Lewis, Oseas “Flako” Perez, Julia Schmid, Donishia Hall, Wanda Guillory, Tracy Francis, Allie Aucoin, and Satarah Oliver, among others for their dedication to her. Donations in memory of Jules Maust can be made to the ALS Association, to the Family Foundation, or to Family and Youth.

Because of concerns regarding COVID-19, the family requests visitors to wear masks and maintain social distancing guidelines. Also, following the Mass, the family will not be gathering.

Marjorie Meche

1930-2020

Marjorie Alleman Meche, longtime Sulphur resident, passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 7, 2020, in a local hospice.

Friends, neighbors and family will remember her for her warmth, her faith and, especially, her “sock-it-to-me” cake. Mrs. Meche’s gift for baking and creating a home with her husband of 66 years defined her well-lived life.

She was born July 2, 1930 in St. Landry Parish to Louis and Audrey Alleman, as third of six children. Soon after Felton Meche returned from WWII, the two met at a local dance, and in 1946, their attraction blossomed into love and marriage. From their house on Lyons Street and then later on Division Lane, the Meche family grew to include five children. A dedicated parishioner, Mrs. Meche attended services at Immaculate Conception in Sulphur.

Mrs. Meche is preceded in death by her husband, Felton Meche. She is survived by her children: Jennie (Bob) Verrett, Danny Meche, Sam Meche (Terry), Liz (Dennis) Sonnier and Mike (Terry) Meche. She also has eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two surviving sisters, Nell Truman and Thelma Moncrief.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Tim Goodly will officiate. William James “Jim” Miller, 75, of Longville, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2020 in Houma, La. A visitation will be Sunday, Aug. 9, from 4-8 p.m., and Monday, Aug. 10, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Monday, Aug. 10, at 2 p.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Interment will be at Squyres Cemetery in Ragley. Monsignor Daniel Torres will officiate.

Jim was from Bergenfield, New Jersey, which he always called home. He was a proud Vietnam veteran in the United States Army, and he loved serving his country. To Jim, his most precious gifts were his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He loved his family and was well known for his story-telling. Jim is survived by his wife of 29 years, Mary Beth Miller of Longville; six children, Mike Duhon & Natalie of Houston, Jimmy Miller & Tiffany of Houston, Stacey Duhon of Moss Bluff, Deena Bertrand & Mike of Moss Bluff, Amy Fontenot & Clint of Longville, and Jessica Dietrich of Longville; ten grandchildren, Savannah Ramirez, Zachary Jennings, Mia Duhon, Jolie Duhon, Noah Fontenot, Parker Fontenot, Brogan Fontenot, Briggs Fontenot, Riley Cooley, and Adriana Miller; two brothers, Roger Miller of Clary, North Carolina, and Michael Miller & Miguel of Clearwater, Fl; two sisters, Janice Miller of Woodridge, New Jersey, and Debbie Knoeller of Woodridge; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Patty Sue Fincher Webb

Patty Sue Fincher Webb, 84, passed away on August 4, 2020, in Lake Charles, La. Visitation will be held from 4 – 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 9, at Johnson Funeral Home. A celebration of Patty’s life will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Webb was born on July 26, 1936, in Prescott, Ar, the daughter of Arl and Ruth Bright Fincher. She graduated from Stephens High School, Stephens, Ar, in 1954 and married her high school sweetheart, James Phillip Webb, on Aug. 31, 1957.

As a girl, Patty enjoyed playing basketball; later, she loved watching her sons play ball. Patty began her lifelong relationship with Jesus as a young girl, and had a passion for sharing Jesus with others and teaching the Bible throughout her lifetime. Wherever she and Phillip lived, Patty found a way to teach others about God.

Patty lived many places during her lifetime, including Lake Charles, New Orleans and Berwick, La, Eket,Nigeria, then spent many years in Montgomery, Texas before moving back to Lake Charles in 2018. She was a founding member of North Shore Church in Montgomery, Texas. Patty enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, decorating her home and spending time with her family. Her generous, caring spirit will be missed by all those who knew her.

Patty was preceded in death by her parents, Arl and Ruth Fincher.

She is survived by her husband, James Phillip Webb, Sr; three brothers, Wayne Fincher, Robert Fincher and Jim Fincher; two sons, Phil Webb and his wife, Debbie; Greg Webb and his wife Tammy; grandchildren, Daniel Webb, Katelyn Kendrick, Adam Webb, Kacie Peterson and Kellie Duke. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Avery Webb, Anna Webb, Melody Webb, Ramsey Kendrick, Hazel Kendrick, Juliet Kendrick, Mary Margaret Peterson and Jack Henry Peterson.

Druis “Elaine” Perry Westlund

SULPHUR- Druis “Elaine” Perry Westlund, 75, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2020.

Elaine was a native and lifelong resident of Sulphur. She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Carlyss where she completed the RCIA Program. She also attended the ACTS Retreat where she met many other sisters of faith. Elaine, affectionately known as “Ginny” enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she adored. She also enjoyed cooking, and taking care of her chickens.

Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Hoffpauir and husband, Brent of Carlyss; step-daughter, Debra Vaughan and husband, Ronald of Carlyss; her brother, Steve Perry of Scottsdale, Arizona; and six grandchildren, Sarah Grace Hoffpauir, Mary Claire Hoffpauir, Justin Vaughan, Caitlyn Vaughan, Danielle Westlund, and Christopher Adams. She is preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Westlund; her parents, Shirley and Druis Perry; her step-daughter, Janie Adams; and two sisters, Wynell Widcamp and Loretta Pardue.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, in St. Theresa Catholic Church. The Rev. Bino Francis, M.S. will officiate. Burial will be in Dutch Cove Cemetery in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Monday with a rosary service at 6 p.m. and from 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Our Lady’s Catholic School, 1111 Cypress Street, Sulphur, LA 70663.
