Lenore Mae Husser Airhart, 90, of Moss Bluff, passed away Friday, July 24, 2020, at Harbor Hospice in Lake Charles.
She was born in Husser, La., on Jan. 26, 1930, to Theodore B. Husser Sr. and Mae McDaniel Husser and lived in the Lake Charles/Moss Bluff area for almost 70 years. She retired as an elementary school music teacher, having taught at Moss Bluff Elementary School for many years. Mrs. Airhart was a member of First Moss Bluff and Terry and Elizabeth Stanley’s Sunday School class which she loved. She was an accomplished seamstress and pianist and was honored to use those talents to serve God.
She is survived by one son, Donald W. Airhart (Starla) of Newport News, Va.; three daughters, Phyllis Airhart Young (Steven) of Moss Bluff, Sandra Airhart Khazraee (David) of Tallahassee, Fla., and Carole Airhart Smith (Jim) of Katy, Texas; six grandsons, Alan Young (Lori), Bryan Young (Alana) and Jared Young (Katy) of Moss Bluff, Luke Young (Paige) of Longview, Texas, Ben Khazraee (Beth) of Tallahassee, Fla., and Logan Smith (Marie) of Billings, Mont.; four granddaughters, Kathleen Khazraee of Tallahassee, Fla., Olivia Smith of Baton Rouge, La., Sarah Smith of Katy, Texas, and Stacy Airhart of Newport News, Va.; and 11 great-grandchildren, Lyndsey, Dylan, David, Lauren, Beau, Peter, Trey, Grayson, Carmen, Elijah and Bruce. She is also survived by two brothers, Ted Husser Jr. and George Husser (Loretta) of Husser, La.; three sisters, Virginia Bahm of Loranger, La., Mary Roberts of River Ridge, La., and Joyce Seal (Fred) of Luling, La.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, Colonel E. “Pete” Airhart; and one great-grandson, Joshua Young.
Service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 31, 2020, at Johnson Funeral Home Moss Bluff followed by burial at Creel Cemetery in Reeves, La., under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Her grandson, the Rev. Ben Khazraee, will officiate. Visitation will begin on Thursday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and will continue on Friday from 9 a.m. until the start of the service.
Her grandchildren Alan, Bryan, Jared and Luke Young and Olivia Smith and great-grandson Dylan Young will serve as pall bearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the First Moss Bluff – I Love My Church building fund at firstmossbluff.com.

Kenneth James Allan, 43, of Lake Charles, passed away, Saturday, July 25, 2020, in the comfort of his home.
Kenneth was born in Lake Charles, raised in Sulphur and lived most of his life in Lake Charles. He was a graduate of Sulphur High School and studied to be a hair stylist. He worked many years as a manager for Radio Shack where he was given the opportunity to travel to Paris, Amsterdam, and Philadelphia. He was a talented handyman, there was nothing he couldn’t do. Kenneth worked the past twenty-five years as a designer and decorator for A Daisy A Day and helped manage Sunshine Nursery. For fun, he loved fishing and loved spending time at the camp at Toledo Bend. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, listening to country music and working puzzles. He will be most remembered for his unique personality and kind heart.
He leaves to honor his memory, mother, Barbara Blanchette Pearl (Tom) of Freeport, Texas; brother at heart, Michael Powers (Midge) of Sulphur, and his brother, Donald Powers (Kara) of DeQuincy; sister at heart, Amy Cross (Paula) of Vinton; cousins, Heather Bandeaux (Brandon) of Plaquemine, and James Powers (Jimmy) of Sulphur; and baby dogs, Copper and Attie. He also leaves his extended family at A Daisy A Day.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Norma Jean Blanchette and Adam Theodore Blanchette; uncle, Wayne Blanchette; aunt, Helen Powers and his beloved dog, Moose.
Funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2020, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Jerry Snider will officiate. Visitation Wednesday will be from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m.

JENNINGS — It’s with the heaviest of hearts that the family of Bryce Aaron Ewing-Rhodes announce the passing of their loved one from this life on July 24, 2020, at the age of 23. Bryce was born in Jennings, La., to Ray Rhodes and Annette Miller on Oct. 8, 1996. Bryce loved the outdoors, especially if he was hunting or fishing. Bryce also enjoyed cooking. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Bryce was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left behind to cherish Bryce’s memories are his parents, Ray Rhodes, Jesse Ewing, Annette (Kenneth) Miller; his grandparents, Raymond (Darlene) Price, Tena Wilson, Keith Miller; his brothers, Blake Ewing, Kyle Ewing, Brayden LeBlanc, Landon Rhodes, Kaleb Ewing, Trevor Ewing, Cayden LeBlanc; his sisters, Asya Rhodes, Sara Miller, Haylee Miller; as well as three nephews, three nieces, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Bryce is joining in heaven the family that went before him, his brother, Camryn Miller; his great-grandmother, Betty Miller; his grandfather, Pete Rhodes.
A Private Mass of Christian burial for Bryce Aaron Ewing-Rhodes, 23, of Jennings, La., will be held at Our Lady help of Christians Catholic Church in Jennings, La., with Father Keith Pellerin officiating. Burial will follow in Langley Cemetery. Those Chosen to honor Bryce as his pallbearers will be Ray Rhodes, Raymond Price, Blake Ewing, Kaleb Ewing, Kyle Ewing, and Trevor Ewing. His honorary pallbearers will be Jesse Ewing, Landon Rhodes, Brayden Miller, Cayden LeBlanc, Kenneth Miller, and Cary Teal.

Rufus Edward Goins passed from this earth at 79 years and 10 days of age on July 22, 2020, at LSU/Ochsner-Shreveport. Rufus was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Jettie Goins; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Rudolph and Wilma Goins and Raymond and Margaret Goins; and his “grafted-in” brothers and sister who lovingly “adopted” him as one of their own, Teddy Owens, Billy Owens, Lynell Owens-Johnson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lynda Goins; his daughter, Darla Solinsky (Jeff); and his granddaughter, Eden Solinsky, who was the light and joy of his life; his sister-in-law, Charlotte “Shot” Cutts; his “grafted-in” Owens “brothers and sister”, Alvin (Laverne) Owens, Fredna Owens, Danny (Kaye) Owens, James (Jeane) Owens and Damon Johnson; his “brother from another mother,” a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and very special friends and neighbors.
Rufus was a devoted child of God. He grew up a member of First Pentecostal Church in DeRidder, La. During his tenure there he became a licensed minister. He served as Sectional Youth leader for many years as well as Song leader, Sunday School teacher and board member. In 1993 he and Lynda became members of Grace Church in DeRidder where he faithfully supported the ministry and served as an Elder of the church until his passing.
Anyone who knew him knew that Rufus Edward loved God, he loved his family, he loved people. He loved to teach. He loved tending to his cows and to the land that was entrusted to him for his 71 years on it. His mission in life was consistent: Love God with all of his heart and be a disciple of Christ; love, provide for and protect his family; love people. He LOVED people.
A drive through visitation will be at Grace Church in DeRidder Thursday, July 30, from 5-8 p.m. There will be a graveside service at 9 a.m. on Friday, July 31, morning at Lewis-New Cypress cemetery on Henry Bass Road in Rosepine. For anyone wanting to join the procession to the graveside, the procession will leave Friday morning from Myers Colonial Funeral Home at 8:15 a.m.
Pallbearers will be BJ Bjornberg, Brian Churchman, Erik Churchman, Damon Johnson, Robert Lovern, Kim Owens.
The family would like to express their thankfulness to Dr. Frances Fraser and Dr. David Aymond for their friendship and the wonderful care they provided through the years.

Rachel Lee Harmon, “Smokey”, 85, was born March 15, 1935, in Kinder, La., to the late Jimmy and Onge Captain Harmon Sr. A native of Kinder, La., she resided in Lake Charles most her life, where she was a member of Messiah Missionary Baptist Church. She departed this life Friday, July 24, 2020, in a local hospital. She leaves to cherish her memories, one son, Donald Wayne (Jennifer Johnson) Smith Sr.; two sisters, Miller Mae Citizen and Glory Lee Tyler; one brother, Jimmy Harmon Jr.; five grandchildren, Sharonda Smith, Courtney Smith, Phillip Smith Jr., Donald Smith Jr. and Megan Smith; six great-grandchildren, along with other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter, JoAnn Rideaux; son, Phillip Smith Sr.; parents, Jimmy and Onge Harmon Sr.; and brother, David Harmon. LAKE CHARLES — Bobby Joe LaFosse, born on Sept. 7, 1940, in Crowley, son of the late Andrus and Alice (Beard) LaFosse, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2020, at the age of 79.
Bobby served in the U.S. Airforce and retired from Citgo as a planner.
Bobby is survived by his daughters, Gwen Foster and husband Fred of DeRidder, Lori Hagan of Sulphur, Debra Highsmith of Concord, Calif.; son, Michael LaFosse and wife Stephanie of Moss Bluff; brother, Clay LaFosse and wife Mary Ann; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Claudia LaFosse; and brother, Hallet LaFosse.
Graveside service will be held in Estherwood Memorial Cemetery in Estherwood, on Thursday, July 30, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. The Very Rev. Keith Pellerin, Celebrant.

J.D. Laughlin, life-long resident of Sulphur, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loved ones on July 25, 2020, at the age of 82. He was born on Feb. 14, 1938, in Ged, La., to Mayo and Mary (Domingue) Laughlin.
Mr. Laughlin retired from the City of Sulphur after 40+ years of service. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved the outdoors, hunting and was an avid bass fisherman.
Mr. Laughlin is survived by his loving wife, Nora (LeJeune) Laughlin; and his children, Debra Fontenot, Elizabeth (Randy) Spell, Eddie Morgan, Cheryl (Ernest) Weekly, Darryl Laughlin, Delinda(Richard) Fazio, Vance Laughlin Sr., Johnny Morgan, Stevie Stockman and Angie (Jeff Sr.) Domingue; sister, Bernice Perridon; sister, Vernice Turner; brother, Brady Laughlin; 33 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Mayo “Wayne” Laughlin; parents, Mayo and Mary; five brothers; and two sisters.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2020, and will resume at 10 a.m. on Friday until time of service at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home.

Christopher John Lavergne, 45, departed this life on Friday, July 24, 2020, in Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. He was born Jan. 5, 1975, to Alvin Lavergne and Evella Lavergne in Lake Charles, La. He was a cook until his retirement. He enjoyed going on cruises, fishing, cars and music.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Asha Morris-Lavergne; his parents, Alvin and Evella Lavergne; two sisters, Suella (Mark) Lavergne Reed and Amanda Lavergne; five nieces, Sadie, Alyssa, Braelynn, Briley and Bre’ella; three nephews, Christian, Tyrell and Adria; and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, “Jelly Bean”; one brother, Adam Lee Lavergne; maternal grandmother, Audrey LeBlanc; paternal grandmother, Mary Cornelia Lavergne; mother-in-law, Virginia Captiville; and father-in-law, Bethel Captiville.

George Edward LeRay II
George Edward LeRay II, of DeRidder, La., passed away Tuesday, July 21, at his home. He was 81.
George was a pharmacist and former owner of Ideal Drug Store, a business started by his grandfather in 1903. The business is the oldest, continuous one in DeRidder and one of the oldest in Southwest Louisiana.
George was born to Travis Edward and Brownie LeRay on Feb. 26, 1939. After graduating from DeRidder High School in 1957, he obtained a degree in pharmacy at Northeast Louisiana University. He also attended Centenary College.
George built upon the family business and modernized it. He was passionate about his career and just as enthusiastic about helping others. Many times, if a customer was facing hard times, he would fill their prescription at no charge. He was also an advocate for the field of pharmacy, inspiring several local young people to pursue the career path. He would speak at “career days” at the local high school every chance he could.
George’s civic involvement was vast and spanned decades. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout as a young man, and was active in the local Boy Scout organization as an adult. He was also involved in the DeRidder Rotary club and at the time of his death, was the longest tenured DeRidder Rotarian, having served over 35 years. He was once tapped by Rotary Clubs of Southwest Louisiana to spend time in Belgium as part an exchange program.
Other causes George have time to include the March of Dimes, Deridder High School Alumni Association, June Jenkins Women’s Shelter, Louisiana Bicentennial Commission, Greater Beauregard Chamber of Commerce and DeRidder Jaycees. He once served as the statewide president of the Louisiana Jaycees.
George served on the DeRidder City Council for four years and was involved in the Louisiana State Pharmaceutical Association and the Louisiana Partners of the Americas, where he served for two years on the executive committee.
He earned a list of community and state honors through the years, including DeRidder Citizen of the Year in 1973 and DeRidder Women’s League Mardi Gras Gala King in 2008. He was also a longtime member other First United Methodist Church of DeRidder.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Travis Edward and Brownie LeRay.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 35 years, Marie Jeanette “Jeanie” LeRay of DeRidder, La.; daughters, Meredith Michelle Arceneaux of Dallas, Texas, Adrienne Jeffery of DeRidder, La.; sister, Lianne McNaught of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Ashley McShan and Ray, Joshua Clark and Anna, Emily Clark and Tyler Badgett, Matthew Mansco and Mazie, Kenneth Mansco, Zoe Arceneaux; nine great-grandchildren; nephews, Clark McNaught and Kevan McNaught; and a host of extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, La. Funeral service will be Thursday, July 30, 2020, at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in DeRidder, La. The Rev. Laraine Waughtal will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Hicks, Mike Clanton, Dale Peterson, Earl Roulaine, Kerry Anderson, Clark McNaught, Kevan McNaught and Vincent Labue. Lawrence Primeaux, 74, of Holmwood, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2020, surrounded by his family.
He was a retired elementary school Principal.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dora Jean (Fontenot); daughter, Mitzi; granddaughter, Corynn Aliyah; sisters, Theresa Guidry and Clara Carpenter; brother, David.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jan Maureen; and parents, Lawrence Sr. and Mabel.

Nola Lee Greer Saxby, aka Snookie, Mom, NuNu, MawMaw, Aunt Nollie and friend, passed away July 28, 2020 at the age of 87.
Nola was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles, graduating from LaGrange High School. She worked for BellSouth for 18 years during which time she met and married Jay Dean Saxby. In 1967 they moved to Moss Bluff. Nola began working for Sam Houston High Schools counselor’s office, where she worked until her kids graduated. She then went to work for the First Presbyterian Church in Lake Charles, where she retired from. She was an active member of the ABWA and worked many years at the voting polls in Westlake. She was also a member of First Baptist Church of Moss Bluff. Her love for life and fun was infectious. She was always the life of any party and will be missed.
Mrs. Saxby is survived by her son, Charles Saxby and wife Denise of Westlake; daughter, Jacqueline “Jackie” Jackson and husband Timothy “Scotty” of Moss Bluff; grandchildren, Tiffany Saxby, Jennifer Jackson Frederick and husband Daniel, and Allison Jackson; and great-grandchildren, Lauren and Taylor Frederick.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Dean Saxby; infant daughter, Laura Theresa Saxby; parents, B.A. and Laures Greer; and two sisters, Delta “Bottise” McCoy and Margaret Rice.
Her family will have a small private graveside service at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2020, at Highland Memory Gardens. The Rev. Bill Saxby will officiate.

Tina Rosita Wilkinson, 62, of Lacassine, was welcomed into Heaven on Monday, July 27, 2020.
She was one of six children, born on Aug. 13, 1957, to Floyd Gary and Dorothy Sherman in Abbeville, La.
Tina was married to Kevin Wilkinson for 37 years before his passing in 2017, to which they built a beautiful family she was proud of. Her five children loved and adored their free spirited mother. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life such as taking motorcycle rides with her husband, playing in her rose garden,, but most of all she loved cooking and spending Sunday’s with her children and grandchildren. Her infectious smile, shine, and open heart will forever be etched in her family’s heart.
Tina had a giving and gracious heart. She never met a stranger and could light up any room with her warmth. This is what her friends and family will always remember and cherish. Pass the love on.
She was welcomed into heaven by her loving husband, Kevin “Red” Wilkinson; and her son, Joshua Wilkinson; her parents; a brother, Ronald Conrad Gary; and a sister, Dorothy Mae Perry.

Theodore Claude Woods, 94, of Lake Charles, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2020, at a local nursing home. His arrangements have been entrusted to Simple Traditions by Johnson Funeral Home.

William “Bill” Eugene Woolsey
BIG LAKE — William “Bill” Eugene Woolsey, born July 17, 1923, son of the late Leo and Len Elliott Woolsey, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2020, at the age of 97.
Bill was a member of Big Lake Gospel Tabernacle. He worked at PPG as an engineer until he retired and also served in the U.S. Army. Bill enjoyed watching birds and reading.
Bill is survived by his children, David Romero (Beryl), Margaret Burgess (Robert), Liz Herpin (Rick); sister, Ruby Blackburn; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Earline Woolsey.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 31, 2020, at 11 a.m. in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. The Rev. Gary Mann, officiant. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. in the funeral home.
Due to restrictions from the State of Louisiana, Governor John Bel Edwards, the gathering capacity will be limited to 50 people and face masks will be required.
