SULPHUR — Loretta Reed Beech, 86, died Friday, July 10, 2020, in McComb, Miss.

Loretta was born on June 22, 1934, in Iota, La., to Raleigh and Maria Klumpp Reed. She had been a longtime resident of Gonzales, La., before recently moving to McComb, Miss. She enjoyed hunting and traveling, having visited several countries and also the United States. Loretta was a strong supporter of the National Wild Turkey Federation and Ducks Unlimited, and was a member of the Safari Club International, having been on safaris in Africa, Argentina, and Canada.

Survivors include her children, Jeffrey D. Beech of Carlyss, Phyllis Beech-Giraldo and wife Christine of Fresno, Calif., and Schyler Jon Beech and wife Dyna of Paulina, La.; her daughter-in-law, Carla D. Beech of Magnolia, Miss.; her sisters, Rene Storm of Carencro, and Lula Naylor of Sulphur; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Dee Beech; her parents; and a son, Douglas V. Beech.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 16, in Our Lady of Lasalette Catholic Church. The Rev. Andrews Kollannoor, M.S. will officiate. Burial will be in Reed Cemetery in Tee Mamou, La., under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 8:15 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Funeral service for Glenn “Randy” Burnett, 59, will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 17, at Dry Creek Bible Church. Burial will be at Dry Creek Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.

Jeffery Edwards, 84, departed this life on Friday, July 10, 2020, at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. He was born April 4, 1936, to Lamar and Rozetta Edwards in Ville Platte, La. A walk-up window visitation will be held on Thursday, July 16, from 9 to 11 a.m. and a graveside service at Combre Memorial Park.

Regina Hidalgo

Regina Hidalgo, born in Lake Charles, on Aug. 30, 1972, daughter of the late Francis and Elaine Hidalgo, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2020, at the age of 47.

Regina was a native of Westlake, and resided in LeBleu Settlement. She was a graduate of Westlake High School and was an employee of the Golden Nugget Casino.

She is survived by her loving children, Amanda Hidalgo, Meagan Hidalgo and Ian Heisterman; three grandchildren, Michael, Penelope, Asher; seven siblings and their spouses, Sherwood Hidalgo, Carmel Fazzio (Anthony), Dolores Dommert (Les), Joanne Hidalgo, John Hidalgo, Kevin Hidalgo, Francis “Frank” Hidalgo (Brandy); many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Elaine Hidalgo; and sister, Concetta Billedeaux.

Her family extends thanks to St Joseph Hospice, Lakeside Funeral Home and Pastor Marcus Wade.

Pastor Marcus Wade will hold a private service, burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery.

Holloway Jr.

Darnell Wayne Holloway Jr., 43, transitioned from his life Saturday, July 11, 2020, from Harbor Hospice. He was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles.

He was born to Patricia “Lynn” LaFleur Elie and Darnell Wayne Holloway Sr. on Oct. 3, 1976. He was the oldest of three children. Darnell was a 1998 graduate of Alfred M. Barbe High School. He was a poster child for the Children’s Miracle Network and was actively involved with the Special Olympics. He enjoyed listening to country music, fishing and spending time with family. Darnell was always a happy young man and was best known for his beautiful smile.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Patricia “Lynn” LaFleur Elie; father, Darnell Wayne Holloway Sr.; paternal grandmother, Estella Holloway; two sisters, Eureka Carter (Mike) and April Gauthier; two nephews, Ayden Gauthier and Michael “Trey” Carter; and two nieces, Ashanti Carter and Nevaeh Mouton. He also leaves a host of aunts, uncles and extended family, as well as special and devoted friends, John and Joanne Arabie.

He was preceded in death by his by his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas LaFleur; paternal grandfather, Lionel Holloway Sr.; and uncle, Thomas K. LaFleur.

Funeral service will be at noon Friday, July 17, 2020, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Clifton Stevens will officiate. Interment will follow in Combre Memorial Park. Visitation Friday will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service in the funeral home.

Veronica Margaret 
Mary LaBauve

Veronica Margaret Mary LaBauve, 85, of Conroe, Texas, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2020. She was born to her late parents, Raymond and Veronica Collins on Sept. 22, 1934, in Hazleton, Pa. Veronica and her husband, Bobby LaBauve, were married for 61 years. Together they owned and operated LaBauve Jewelers for 23 years, and were members of the National Jewelry Association. She was a member of the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Southwest Louisiana. Veronica was an avid Classic movie fan and enjoyed traveling the Country. She loved to work crossword puzzles, gardening, golfing and had an incredible vocabulary. Her biggest love was her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by one son, Gregory LaBauve of Lake Charles; two daughters, Shari Farrell and husband Patrick of Spring, Texas, Krista Brown and husband Scott of San Antonio, Texas; one brother, James Collins and wife Pat of Brenham, Texas; eight grandchildren, Brittany LaBauve, Michelle Webb, Mark Azar, Michael Azar, Peter Farrell, Ashton Swann, Blaine Brown and Robyn Brown; along with 11 great-grandchildren, Sebastian Stewart, Quenton Stewart, Evangeline Ragusa, Aspen Ragusa, Cypress Webb, Lark Webb, Lynnkinn Azar, Blayden Azar, Luke Swann, Easton Azar and Jake Azar.

Veronica was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bobby Joe LaBauve; along with her parents.

Service will be at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles on Thursday, July 16, 2020, at 1 p.m. with Bro. Glenn George officiating. Visitation will begin on Thursday, starting at noon until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Prien Memorial Park Cemetery.

Wesley Jerome Rector was born June 17, 1929, in Montrose, La. He was the oldest son of Wesley Washington Rector and Maudie Roseann Dowden. He passed from this life on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, in DeRidder, La.

Jerome was a resident of Beauregard Parish since 1949. During his life, he held many trades including insurance sales, night guard at Fort Polk, rodeo stock contractor, newspaper deliveryman, pulpwood contractor, auto body repair, jailer at Beauregard Parish Jail, gardener, cattleman and night clerk for Labby Memorial Funeral Home. It could be said that he was a Jack-of-all-trades but most definitely a master of one… that of Barber. He started cutting the hair of calvary soldiers around his home at the age of 15 and he continued cutting hair throughout his life until he was 85.

He leaves behind his wife of 71 years, Clarriece Maxine Whitley Rector; daughter, Deborah Ann Lange Westmoreland; daughter, Dottie Belle Travis and husband Raulin; son, Thomas Wesley Rector; daughter, Donna Elizabeth Rector; son, Marion (Marty) Jerome Rector and wife Melissa, all residing in DeRidder, La.; sister-in-law, Reta Faye Rector of Leesville; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Jerome was preceded in death by his father, Wesley Washington Rector; mother, Maudie Roseann (Dowden) Rector; and brother, Clayton Lawrence Rector.

The family wishes to express special thanks for their wonderful care of Jerome to Brighton Bridge Hospice of Oberlin.

L.J. Reeves, 78, of Topsy, passed away at 8:42 AM on Monday, July 13, 2020, at his home.

Mr. Reeves was born in Lake Charles, and was raised and lived all his life in Topsy and was a graduate of Gillis High School. He was a proud and faithful employee of McManus Construction where he worked for 30 years until retiring. Mr. Reeves was a dedicated member of the First Apostolic Church of Moss Bluff.

He was an avid hunter and fisher, deer hunting being at the top of his list.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, George Thomas Reeves (Annette) of Ragley, and Melody Ann Cothran (Mike) of Carthage, Miss.; siblings, Betty Alexander (Buddy) of Bridge City, Texas, Annie Mae Chapman of Topsy, and A.J. Reeves (Debbie) of Moss Bluff; two grandchildren, Bret Reeves and Jessica Franklin (Ricky), all of Topsy; and one great-grandson, Colton Franklin.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Aleta Reeves; parents, Thelma and Newton Reeves; and siblings, Winnie Eaves and Margaret Boudreaux.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at Creel Cemetery in Bel, La., under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. The Rev. John Hair will officiate.

Roger John Rosteet Jr.

Roger John Rosteet Jr., 74 years of age, passed away July 12, 2020, in the comfort of his home. He was born and raised in Lake Charles, lived in the neighborhood where he was raised and attended St. Henry’s Catholic Church. He was a graduate of Lake Charles High School and proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp in Vietnam. He enjoyed a lifelong career of meeting and making friends in his work. He worked in the oilfield business for many years and was the owner of Deep South Oilfield and Industrial Supply. He owned Rosteet Enterprises with his brother, Jerry Rosteet. His nephew, Daniel Rosteet, worked many years alongside him in Deep South Oilfield and Industrial Supply.

He possessed a great sense of humor and was a kind man. He was charitable to all, family or otherwise, who were in any kind of need, never turning anyone away. Although he was never a father, he leaves a legacy as the special uncle to many nieces and nephews; who all saw him as the loving and caring family member, who was always there for them. His nieces and nephews were his precious children. He loved all his family deeply and cared for his many pets as they were his other children.

He is survived by his five brothers, Fred Rosteet of Lake Charles, Sidney Rosteet and wife Cathy of Sulphur, Charles Rosteet and wife Paula of Bell City, Scott Rosteet and wife Jane of Sulphur, Jerry Rosteet and wife Donna of Moss Bluff; sister-in-law, Peggy Rosteet; companion, Priscilla Palermo; former wife, Joan Rosteet; and lifelong friend, James Miller. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger John Rosteet Sr. and Lillian Rosteet; brother, Conway James Rosteet; and sisters-in-law, Gaynell Rosteet and Chris Rosteet.

There will be a private burial service and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles, La.

Percy Joseph Sonnier

Percy Joseph Sonnier, 84, of Sulphur, La., passed away on July 10, 2020, surrounded by his loving family.

Percy was born on Sept. 15, 1935, in Rayne, La., to Lemus and Eunice Sonnier. He loved fishing, wood working, and being around friends and family, especially his loving neighbors. He proudly served our country in U.S. Air Force and retired from PPG after 30 years of service. Percy was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Lake Charles where he dearly loved his church family.

Those left to cherish his memory are his two children, Mark Bertrand and wife Denise of Iowa, La., and Lorrie Chonko and husband Randy of Moss Bluff, La.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Jo-El Sonnier and wife Bobbye of Westlake, La.; loving neighbors and church family; and extended loving family, Ann and Lonnie Coats.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother-in-law, Terry Maddox.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 16, 2020, at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mimosa Pines North in Sulphur. Pastor Wayne Dartez will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday, 9 a.m. until time of service at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home.

Guy F. Williams

Guy F. Williams, 89, of Lake Charles, La., went peacefully to his heavenly home on Sunday, July 12, 2020.

Guy was born on July 22, 1930, in Hornbeck, La. He was a 1947 graduate of Hornbeck High School. He was an Air Force Veteran and a devoted member and respected deacon at Trinity Baptist Church.

Guy’s life was full. He and Miss Carolyn had many great adventures traveling the country and enjoyed meeting new people and exploring new places together. He loved golf with his friends, numerous activities and duties at church, and spending time with family. Guy was passionate about children and whether they were family or not, these young people had a deep love and admiration for “Uncle” Guy. He dedicated himself to youth organizations such as Awana and Optimist International and the legacy he leaves with those organizations is a testament to the devotion and he will live on in the memories of the young lives he touched.

Guy is survived by his wife, Carolyn; his sister, Ann Cooper; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.

Guy was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Grace Williams; his brothers, Harry Williams, Royce Williams, Dale Williams, Lynn Williams; and sister, Myrtle Miller.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2020, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Leesville, La. Visitation on Wednesday will be from 8 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Bonnie S. Yellott

Bonnie S. Yellott, 85, a resident of DeQuincy, passed from this life to her eternal home on July 12, 2020, surrounded by her family at home. She was a member of The Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy where she had used her talents for the Lord serving in the Ladies Ministry, as a Sunday School Teacher, Bible Quiz Coach, Hostess, and Bereavement Hospitality Coordinator. She often could be found in the church kitchen making pies, peanut brittle or baked beans for a BBQ to raise funds for the church or sewing for Tupelo Children’s Mansion or Dorcas New Beginnings. Bonnie will be remembered as a virtuous woman who put God first and her family second. She enjoyed traveling with her family and church friends, shopping, helping in any way she could and her “green thumb” aided in her love for working in her yard. Her strong will, unwavering faith, words of wisdom, giving spirit and teaching hands made her the true matriarch of the family. Her family will always treasure the memories of vacations, BBQs with homemade peppermint ice cream, Sunday Dinners, Millionaire candy, and her ability to make even the ordinary extra special. On Feb. 21, 1952, Bonnie married Avery Yellott. She was the love of his life and his beloved wife for 68 years. She was an affectionate mother to Roxie Jackson and husband Benny, and Ava Sue Yellott; doting grandmother (Maw-maw) to Amanda Guerrero and husband Mark; and great-grandmother (Bon Bon) to Stella and Luciana Guerrero, all residents of DeQuincy. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, James M. and Anna Mae Royer.
