Delmar Dwight ”Dale” Bentley
Delmar Bentley, “Dale” passed away, Tuesday, May 26, 2020, in his Lake Charles, residence following a brief but harsh battle with cancer. His wife and son were by his side.
Delmar Dwight “Dale” Bentley was born Dec. 27, 1950, in Electra, Texas. At the age of nine months, Dale and his parents moved to Midland, Texas. Dale was 10 years old when his father, John F. Bentley Jr., transferred to a Hunt Petroleum Plant in Kinder, La. There Dale became an avid athlete, participating in three sports throughout Jr. high and high school. Dale was also a member of the Kinder High School Band under the direction of Bill Green.
Dale received his Bachelor of Science degree, M. Ed and Ed. S from McNeese State University, and completed a 42 year career in education. Dale worked at seven schools during his tenure serving as a social studies teacher, coach, guidance counselor, assistant principal and principal. Dale frequently commented that he was most fortunate to have been mentored by the best of educators. He worked four years at Louisiana State University at Eunice as Coordinator of Student Affairs and six years at McNeese State University as a Supervisor of Student Teaching. Dale was also a Licensed Professional Counselor and had a private practice for a number of years.
Dale was a member of Trinity Baptist Church where he enjoyed serving as a faithful choir member.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, John F. Bentley Jr. and Mildred Trout Bentley; brother, Bobby Lee Bentley; fathers-in-law, Leo Lanier and Lou Sattler; and his precious, beloved basset hound, Tuff.
Dale is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sondra ” Sonni” Lanier Bentley; son, Mark Bentley and wife Erin; three granddaughters, Charis, Blythe and Amelie Bentley; his mother-in-law, Jessie Sattler; sister, Pam Bentley Rogers; and sister-in-law, Kathi Lanier Rye. Dale is also survived by a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, a niece and nephews.
His funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, May 29, 2020, at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. Burial follow at Liberty Cemetery in Elton, La. **Please note that the gathering capacity will be limited to 25% occupancy as per state compliance**

Mrs. Calvin Boudreaux
Mrs. Calvin Boudreaux (Kathleen Coleman), 88, of Beaumont, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2020, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born to her late parents, John and Elizabeth Coleman on Sept. 12, 1931, in Lyons Point, La.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary out of Lake Arthur for a number of years. Kathleen retired from the Jefferson Davis School Board as a cafeteria technician in 1993.
She is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Calvin J. Boudreaux; one son, Raymond M. Boudreaux Sr. and wife Hilda of Moss Bluff; one daughter, Valeria B. Rayzor and husband Dicky of Beaumont, Texas; two sisters, Irene Dill and husband George of Crowley, Leona Spell of Crowley; seven grandchildren, Kimberlee Nichols and husband Will of Beaumont, Calvin Joseph Boudreaux II and wife Adrian of Pine Island, Raymond Michael Boudreaux Jr. of Roanoke, Jeremy Boudreaux and wife Jiana of Ripon, Calif., Aaron Chas Boudreaux and wife Brittany of Church Point, Zechariah Boudreaux of Youngsville, Gabriel Fontenot and husband Orrin of Baton Rouge; seven great0grandchildren; along with one great-great-grandson.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Mazel Hargrave, Maldes Touchet, Leezbird Myers, Steve Coleman, Sable Hollier, Melba Labbie, Ralph Coleman and Shirley Fajkus.
Service will be held at Hixson Funeral Home in Welsh at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2020, with Deacon Wayne Chapman officiating. Visitation will be at Hixson Funeral Home in Welsh on Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Pine Island Cemetery.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation for Kindred Hospice, Natasha Bishop, Karen Thomas, Ray Medina, Lenrose Place Assisted Living Facility in Beaumont, Texas, neighbor George, and the Wier Street neighbors.

Barbara Louise Cormier, 90, died May 24. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. today, May 28, at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss.

Jeffrey Glen Couvillion, 61, of Sulphur, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at a local hospital. His service arrangements have been entrusted to Simple Traditions by Johnson Funeral Home.
Lucy McIntyre Goodly
Lucy McIntyre Goodly, “Lu” a resident of Lake Charles since 1973, wife, mother of five sons and spiritual leader, died on Friday, May 22, 2020. She was 88.
Lucy was born on March 7, 1932, in Basile, La. She was one of 12 children born to Ernest and Sylvia McIntyre. Lucy graduated from W.W. Stewart High School in Basile in 1956. She enrolled in a sewing program at Ursuline Academy in New Orleans, where she studied for one year. She was an accomplished seamstress, who often sewed her own clothes and handmade clothes for others.
Lucy married her husband, Warren Goodly, on Feb. 11, 1956. They enjoyed 57 years of marriage until Warren’s death on Sept. 27, 2013. Together with Warren, Lucy raised five sons — Venard, Nicholas, Lyndon, Ernest and Baxter. One of Lucy’s favorite refrains was “God gave me five boys. I gave the world five men.”
The wife of an active duty soldier, Lucy lived overseas for ten years, including in Germany and France. For over 47 years, Lucy was an active member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Lake Charles, where she served as a lay minister and a faithful member of the St. Henry’s Alter Society. A natural leader blessed with the gifts of public speaking, counseling, teaching, and preaching, she enjoyed contributing to the welfare of the community through her involvement in various civic groups.
Along with her loving parents and devoted husband, Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Sylvia; her brother, Arthur; and sister, Bertina. She is survived by her five sons; her daughters-in-law, Iris, Stephanie and Naomi; her grandchildren Daniel, Chris, Mia, Nicholas, Ashton, Jewel and Jarrett; her great-grandchildren, Destinee and Rosaria; her siblings, Allen, Mary Jeanelda, Wallace, Marie, Martha, Margaret, Audrey, Charlene and Renee.
The family will receive visitors Friday, May 29, from 4 to 7 p.m. at King’s Funeral Home. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, face coverings are required to attend the visitation. A private funeral mass will be held on Saturday, May 30, at St. Henry Catholic Church and private burial services will be conducted at Assumption Cemetery in Basile, La. A public celebration of life and memorial service will be planned once the pandemic restrictions are lifted.

Katie Leigh Willard Hall, 34, died May 25. Funeral service is 10 a.m. Friday, May 29, in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens.
Lillie James
Mae Mae, as she is affectionately known, passed away peacefully with family by her side. Her soul was not disturbed as she closed her eyes and took her last breath and entered into heaven to be greeted by her Lord and Savior, her loving Husband and countless family members.
She was born on Jan. 22, 1925, to Warren and Clotilde Chevis Duplechain in Church Point, La. She was one of 13 children. On Jan. 16, 1944, she was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of her life, Jake James. They were married for 61 years. To this union six children were born. They resided in Lewisburg, La., before moving to Houston, Texas, in 1968. She was a member of St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Houston, Texas. She was a member of the Ladies Auxilliary of the Knights of Peter Claver for over 60 years.
Mae Mae was blessed to be the Matriarch of six generations, with the birth of a new great-great-great grandson in January 2020.
She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Donald (Celestine) James, and Larry (Colleen) James of Houston, Texas; four daughters, Ann Ruth Mays, and Berdie Bellard of Houston, Texas, Bonnie (Albert) Landry of Lake Charles, La., and Theresa Nell (Morris) LaVergne of Lpwtell, La.; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and one great-great-great grandson; three sisters, Charlene Thierry of Lawton, Okla., Marie Sims and Geraldine Labbe of Houston, Texas. She was blessed with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, friends, neighbors and church family.
We would love to give a special heartfelt thank you to her very special grandchildren, Mark and Tyra Colomb, who spent the last several years tirelessly caring for and catering to her every need. Mom often said that life couldn’t get any better than this because she was waited on hands and feet at all hours of the day and night by Mark and Tyra. We love you and thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jake James; her parents, Warren and Clotilde Chavis Duplechain; three sisters, Mary Ursula Thomas, Leora “Tutsie” Perry, Viola Martha Duplechain; six brothers, Leroy “Red”, A.B., Percy, Howard and Carl Duplechain.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 29, 2020, at 11 a.m., at King’s Funeral Home and funeral service at 1 p.m., at St. Henry Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in Sacred Heart Mausoleum under the direction of King’s Funeral Home.

Nettie Fruge Miller, 81, of Lake Charles, died Tuesday, May 26, at home. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 30, at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.

Cary Patrick ”Bubba” Naquin
Cary Patrick “Bubba” Naquin, 50, of Lake Charles, passed away at 4:58 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2020, in his residence.
Bubba was born on Jan. 26, 1970, in Houma, La., where he was raised until moving to Orlando, Fla., where he was a graduate of Lake Howell High School. He moved to Lake Charles in 1991 where he began his 22 year long career with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Department. Bubba was a Senior Corporal at the time of his death. He was very involved in coaching girls’ softball for the past 18 years and enjoyed it very much. Bubba also took pleasure in deer hunting and fishing.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Michelle Breaux Naquin of Lake Charles; three children, Paige Breaux (fiancé, Cody Forrest) of Sulphur, Megan Villanueva (Casey) of Lake Charles, and Taylor Naquin of Lake Charles; a granddaughter who he affectionately called “his princess”, Sterlyn Forrest of Sulphur; and a brother, Carl Naquin Jr. of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Naquin Sr.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2020, in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Office Honor Guard participating.

Wendell “Wendy” Conner Welch was born March 31, 1947, and passed away May 26, 2020 at her residence in DeQuincy, La.
She is survived by her husband, Morris “Sluggo” Welch; her children, Peggy Scantlen and husband Gary of Palacios, Texas, Melissa Welch-Ball of Silsbee, Texas, Linda Green and husband Jerry of Breckenridge, Texas, James Welch and wife Tammy of White Oak, Texas, and Patricia Welch of Rochester, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Alvin Conner and wife Gloria of Lake Arthur, Berton Conner and wife Barbara of Thornwell, Kenneth Conner and wife Diane of Toledo Bend, Erron Conner of Grand Lake, Norma Price and husband Franklin of Lake Arthur, Linda Hanson and husband Tom of Walker, Sandra Kelley and husband J. C. of Baton Rouge, Marie Higginbotham and husband Larry of Walker, Tessie Johnson of Boca Raton, Fla., Jeanette Conner of Baton Rouge, Bertha Fruge’ and husband Ronald (Fudge) of Bell City, Mona Johnson and husband Charles (Skipper) of Cypress, Texas.
