Cites violation of team rules
Linebacker Donte Starks was dismissed from the LSU football team two months after head coach Ed Orgeron suspended him indefinitely.
Orgeron cited a violation of team rules for Starks’ original suspension, which came a day after he was arrested in his hometown of Marrero for illegally possessing a concealed handgun and attempting to flee law enforcement.

The coach had no further comment as to why Starks was ultimately dismissed, although a news release from LSU cited violation of team rules. It did not specify whether it was a new infraction.
Starks, a former four-star recruit out of John Ehret High School, played in three games as a freshman last season, most on special teams, without recording a tackle.
Where he stood on the 2020 depth chart was not clear with the defending national champion having only three spring practice sessions before athletic activities were shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Starks did play a position where LSU is thin going into the season.
