Wanda Joyce Fontenot

Wanda Joyce Fontenot, 82, of Roanoke, La passed away April 10, 2020, in Jennings, La.

Wanda Joyce was a graduate of Kinder High School, class 1956, retired teacher aid from Allen Parish School Board after 20 years where she loved working with the children and kept the basketball books for Kinder High School for many years. She also worked for 15 years as a dealer at Coushatta Casino, she enjoyed visiting while dealing and never met anyone she could not visit with. Wanda loved her family and spending her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory her son Michael David Fontenot and wife Christi (Denison) of Roanoke; sister, Lois Cormier of Kinder; three grandchildren, Traci Fontenot, Brett Fontenot, and Kaylee Fontenot; three great-grandchildren, Hagen Leger, Kase Leger, and Madden Leger.

Wanda is preceded in death by her late husband of 50 years of marriage, David Fontenot. Two brothers Burton Fruge and JW Fruge and four sisters Dorothy Duhon, Annie May Fruge, Inez Manuel, and Ethel Fontenot.

A private graveside service will be held Monday, April 13, 2020, at 11 a.m. in Liberty Cemetery under the direction of Reed Funeral Home. Father Keith Pellerin will officiate.

Barbara Johnson Fountain

Barbara Johnson Fountain, 68 was born April 22 , 1951 and passed away April 11 , 2020.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Fountain; children Shane Fountain and wife Wendi, Lindsay Fountain and husband, John, Bryan Fountain; grandchildren, Colton, Daegan, Leanna, David; great grandchildren, Laikyn and Reagan; brothers, Lester Johnson, Donald Johnson; sisters, Phyllis Green and husband, Ricky, Leslie Johnson; sister in laws, Sharon Gore, Betty Jo Albert and husband, Ronnie; special friends, Troy, Shawna and Wyatt; numerous other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death her son, Jerry Ray Fountain; parents Lester and Marjorie Johnson.

Private viewing will be held 1pm to 3 p.m. Monday, April 13 at Riley Smith and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with private funeral service beginning at 3 p.m. Interment to follow at Doyle Cemetery in Starks, La.

Coy James Fruge

BELL CITY – Coy James Fruge, born April 21, 2009 in Lake Charles, son of Jeremy and Teri (McFarland) Fruge, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2020.

Coy died peacefully surrounded by his family after a tireless battle with Batten’s disease for eight years. He will forever be remembered for his big brown eyes that were as curious the day he let go as they were the day he was born, for his smiles and giggles that filled many moments as his parents and brother sat around his side blessed to have yet another day, and for his courageous spirit that was often more positive than those who live a healthy life. He is finally at peace in God’s arms and this rare genetic disease may have took his physical and mental functions, but never came close to taking his determination.

Coy is survived by his parents, Jeremy and Teri; brother, Gage; maternal grandparents, Howard and Sandy McFarland; paternal grandparents, Larry and Bernadette Fruge; uncles, Lance McFarland (Emily); Clint McFarland (Jackie); Heath Fruge (Kristle); Clayton Fruge (Kayla) and numerous cousins and friends.

Coy’s family will hold private services in Sweetlake/Grandlake Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa on Monday, April 13, 2020 with Rev. John Payne, Celebrant.

Carroll “Jim” Garner

Carroll “Jim” Garner, 86, passed away in his residence on Tuesday, April 7, 2020. He was born June 5, 1933 in Gainesville, Texas to Burton and Minnie Garner. He served our country honorably in the United States Navy when he entered December 2, 1952. He served aboard the U.S.S. Boxer naval ship. After serving for his 4 years, he decided to make the military a career and then entered the Air Force in January of 1957. He spent time in the missile program and met his beautiful wife of 46 years, Norma Vidrine Garner while stationed at Chennault. His Air Force Career took him to North Dakota and Vandenberg, California. Upon his retirement he returned to Lake Charles and joined the M.S.U. Police department were he later retired. He was a loving dad, grandfather and husband. He enjoyed eating out and talking about the military to anyone who would listen. He enjoyed reading and learning about politics. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Westlake.

Survivors include his sister, Ethel Garner Garvey; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Lanham Garner; grandchildren, Collin, Emily, Shelby and Pierce; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Nathan Garner; brothers, Raymond Garner, Clarence Garner, John Garner, Jr. and Bob Garner; sisters, Alma Garner Williams, Maria Garner Coulter, Bethal Garner Herrmann, Anna Margaret Garner Clark and Barbara Garner Momzinzo.

The family would like to thank Heart of Hospice for the compassion and care they showed Mr. Garner, especially Nurses Brittany and Kim.

In compliance with current state regulations, private services will be held under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff for the immediate family only. Burial will be in New Richie Cemetery.

Wally Joseph Gros

Wally Joseph Gros, age 65, of Sulphur, La died Friday, April 10, 2020 at home. Funeral service will be private under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery.

Murray “Bo” House

Murray Calvin “Bo” House, 93, of Lake Charles, La, died at 9:40 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2020 in his residence, surrounded by his family.

Mr. House was born December 3, 1926 in Lake Charles, La and was a 1944 graduate of Iowa High School. He served his country in the U.S. Navy onboard the USS Nashville. He was the owner / operator of J. Wesley Truck Stop from 1958-1979 and worked side by side with his wife. He also worked as the director of the Habibi Shrine Center in Lake Charles and was instrumental in the Habibi Shrine Circus. He was both a Mason and a Shriner and volunteered his time working with burn victims. Mr. House was an active member of University United Methodist Church for many years. He enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and was an avid New Orleans Saints and LSU Tigers fan.

Mr. House is survived by his daughters, Sharon Thibodeaux (Harold), Betty House (Jimmy Blanco), Mary Kate Roberts (Bill), and Hollie Saltzman (Jimmy Paul); grandchildren, Scotty Nelson (Delta), Joy Nelson McBroom (Curtis), Sara Thibodeaux Theard (Blaise), Ashley Gary Cooper, Beau Gary, Cory Leger (Jennifer), Kara Leger Weeks (Jonathan), and Clay Leger; along with 13 great-grandchildren and numerous other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Frances Vivian “Billie” House; parents, Murray and Emma Pujol House; and a sister, Eura Kathleen House.

His cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home. A celebration of his life will be at a later date.
