L.J. Daigle
L.J. Daigle, 85, a native of Iota, La., and long-time resident of Lake Charles passed from this life on Feb. 20, 2020, in a local hospital.
L.J. was a loving father, grandfather, and devoted friend. He will forever be remembered by all as one of the most kind and generous people. He was called to care for people who were less fortunate, burdened and in need. L.J.’s integrity was beyond reproach. He served with honor in the U.S. Army where he served in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He was captured and was a Prisoner of War. He was discharged from the U.S. Army as a Captain. Mr. Daigle attended SLI, lettered in track, and completed in several marathons. He was a pipefitter by trade and worked in the oil and gas industry until his retirement. One of L.J.’s greatest accomplishments was the day he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Onezia Prather Daigle; wife, Geneva Carter Daigle; grandson, Brennan Wade Daigle; siblings, Leota Perry, Mary Netherland and Emma Schwarz.
L.J. leaves to cherish his memory his son, Albert Daigle; granddaughter, Lauren Nicole Daigle; great-grandson, Corbin Ace Cupples; two sisters, Louise Bordelon and Rose Menou and husband Joe; best friends, Jimmy Bourque and wife Laurie, David Myers, Joyce Muller, Pete Guillory; and a host of friends he made along life’s journey.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2020, in the chapel of Lakeside Funeral Home from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again on Monday, Feb. 24, 2020, from 8:30 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Lakeside Funeral Home. The Rev. Wayne Dartez is to officiate. Burial of cremated remains will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Colors for a Cause of Louisiana.

Ivy Lee “Rat” Dean, 73, was born Oct. 30, 1946, in Lake Charles. He departed this life Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2020. His memory will be forever cherished by his children, Stanford Leonard Queen, Tammy Dean, Tommy Dean Sr., Curtis West, David West, Kendra Nubine, Eric Brown, Damien Bowman; daughters-in-law, Nicole Dean, Timecko West and Shatina Brown; his wife, Betty Dean; brothers, Douglas Rankins, Jasper Rankins, London Rankins, Claude Barrimore Rankins, Archie Rankins III; sisters, Vera Rankins-Hadnot, Verna Rankins-McNulty, Angel Rankins-Gills, Fenecia Rankins-Williams; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren, as well as a host of other family and friends. His memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2020, at Faith Temple COGIC, 3800 Hodges St., in Lake Charles, Pastor Horace Bernard. Pastor Isaiah Thibodeaux will officiate.

Matilda Fay English, 83, died Tuesday, Feb. 18, in a Plano, Texas, hospital. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. today, Feb. 21, in Big Woods Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home.

Barbara Jean Falgoust, 90, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, in a local care center. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24, in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home.
Betty Blanchard Faulk
Betty Blanchard Faulk, 91, passed away Feb. 20, 2020, at her residence surrounded by her family.
She was a resident of Grand Lake, where she was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, past member of the Ladies Alter Society and a CCD Teacher. She received the medal for Devoted Services from the Lake Charles Diocese. Betty retired from the Cameron Parish School Board where she served as Lunchroom manager. Her hobbies were traveling to religious sites, playing bingo and games on her IPad and going to the casino’s. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend.
She is survived by her sons, Denis Faulk (Sedelia) of Bossier City, Lee Faulk (Juanell) of Grand Lake; daughters, Ann Nunez (Kenneth) of Opelousas, Karen Nunez (Jessie) of Grand Lake, Louetta Falcon (Keith) of Lumberton, Texas, Loretta Piraro (John) of Lake Charles, Gerri Hendrix (Craig) of Grand Lake, Frances Davis (Walter) of Grand Lake; 16 grandchildren; four step grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence “Neg” Faulk; son-in-law, Earl Gaspard; and great-grandchild, Tanner Langhart.
Pallbearers are her grandsons, Michael Faulk, Eric Nunez, Brian Falcon, Earl Gaspard, Randall Faulk and Russell Faulk.
Honorary Pallbearers are granddaughters, Chris Nunez, Lori Nunez, Sara McGee, Jennifer Prather, Melissa Langhart, Emily Fuselier, Dawn Quibodeaux, Tori Daigle, Cassandra Duhon and Mallary Davis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, Feb. 24, 2020, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church. Msgr. James Gaddy will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary at 6 p.m. and resuming Monday at 8 a.m. until procession at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Burial will follow at Grand Lake Cemetery.
The family would like to thank her sitters, Nadine Rayon, Becky Blanchard and Heart of Hospice for the care given to our mother.

Robeina Green, 98, departed this life on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020, at her residence in Lake Charles, La. She was born May 30, 1921, to Sandy and Nancy Kelly Berry in Waxia, La. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church for 79 years under the leadership of Rev. Elmore Garner. She loved helping people, working in her flower bed and garden.
She leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters, Nancy Guillory of Rockwall, Texas, and Sharon Robinson of Lake Charles, La.; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Through the years of her life, she inherited many other children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews whom she loved as her own.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sandy and Nancy Berry; her husband, Herman Green; and two sisters, Mary Minix and Pearl Brown.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020, at 2 p.m. and funeral service at 2:30 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, the Rev. Elmore Garner, officiating. Burial will follow in Combre Memorial Park under the direction of King’s Funeral Home.
Doretha Stevens Curtis Guillory
LAKE CHARLES — Doretha Stevens Curtis Guillory, 84, beloved mother and grandmother was unexpectedly called to her eternal resting place on Feb. 14, 2020.
She was the youngest of six children born to the union of the late Minor and Eva Stevens, on Dec. 18, 1935, in Sweetlake, La. She married William Curtis and to this union one daughter, Telisha was born. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Lake Charles, where she continued to be an active and devoted member.
Doretha earned her high school diploma from W.O. Boston High School. She was a graduate of McNeese State University, where she was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. Doretha later earned a Master’s of Education Degree from Southern University. She was employed with the Calcasieu Parish School board as an Elementary Teacher with 38 years of service.
Doretha leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Telisha Curtis of Lake Charles; four granddaughters, Tylar Citizen, Ashtyn Curtis, Santana Martin and Princess Martin, all of Lake Charles; one grandson, Tanner Citizen; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Curtis; stepdaughter, Rutha Martin; her parents, Minor and Eva Stevens; her sisters, Olevia Lubin and Olena Chretien; her brothers, Herman, Horace and Morris Stevens.
Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 300 N. Blake St., Lake Charles, La. The Rev Elmore Garner will officiate. Visitation will be in the Church from 9 a.m. until the time of Celebration Services. Burial will be in Combre Memorial Park under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings, La.

Jennifer Rene Rideau, 55, was born Aug. 1, 1964, in Lake Charles, La. A resident of Lake Charles, she was a 1982 graduate of Marion High School and attended Delta Technical School. Jennifer loved giving and donating to special charities. She departed this life Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2020, at 7:25 p.m. in a local hospital. She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband Mark Hawkins; two sons, Nevin and Nekko Andrepont; one sister, Bethanie Rideau; and one brother, Carl (Cherice) Rideau. Her visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Messiah Baptist Church with her funeral following at 1 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Dianne Savant Riley, 68, passed away peacefully on Feb. 14, 2020, at CHI St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston, Texas.
She was born Jan. 23, 1952, in Lafayette, La., to Mary Savant LaSalle and Oscar Cross Jr. She was a graduate of W.O. Boston High School. She initially began her work career as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell, then went on to drive cab service for Liberty and Yellow Cab in Houston, Texas. Dianne was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She was a friend to all and always willing to lend a listening ear. She loved being out everyday meeting new people and spreading the Lord’s word to all she spoke with.
She is survived by her sister, Josephine Singleton Clark; her three children, Daniel (Tandra) Marburgh, Lisa Johnson, Claude (Kristen) Brown; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Family, Friends and all whose lives she touched are invited to Hixson Funeral Home, 3001 Ryan St., Lake Charles, LA 70601, Feb. 22, 2020, to join in a time of fellowship and love celebrating the well- lived life of Dianne. Joyce Johnson Simien, 74, was born July 9, 1945, in Lake Charles, La., to the late Curley and Elzadie Cains Johnson. A resident of Lake Charles, she was a member of Old Emmanuel Baptist Church where she served in the choir. She was a former employee of K Mart Department Store or over 30 years. She departed this life Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020, in Texas. She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Donald Simien Sr.; one son, Donald Simien Jr.; four sisters, Gloria Foster, Gaynell Johnson, Amy Johnson and Berrie Henry; two brothers, Robert Johnson and Lester Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Lois Dyles, Eula Green and Alice Bell; and one brother, Clifton Johnson. Her visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020, at Old Emmanuel Baptist Church from 9 a.m. with her funeral following at 11 a.m. in the church. Pastor Mack Guillory will officiate. Burial will be in Old Emmanuel Cemetery.

SULPHUR — Mary Ida Ancelet Terro, 86, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2020, in a local hospital.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Sulphur. She was a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, and a life member of the American Legion. She loved to dance, play Bingo, and attend the LIFT program. Mary had worked in the cafeteria at W.W. Lewis Middle School and also worked for many years at the Holiday Inn and Chateau Charles.
Survivors include her children, Mark Terro and wife Suzette, David Terro and companion Susan McGraw, Danny Terro and wife Carolyn, and Linda Terro LeBoeuf, all of Sulphur, and Becky Terro Thibodeaux and husband Chuck of Moss Lake; her siblings, Roxanne Ancelet Nutt, William Ancelet and Darrel “Bee” Ancelet, all of Sulphur; 14 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Terro Jr; her siblings, Calvin Ancelet, Gerald “Booster” Ancelet, Theo Ancelet Jr. and Sue Miller; and a grandson, Casey James Godeaux.
Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Michael Caraway will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines South Cemetery in Carlyss. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Friday with a rosary service at 6 p.m. and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday in the funeral home.
The family would like to give special thanks to Heart of Hospice, High Hope Care Center, and Mary’s daughter-in-law, Carolyn Terro for their excellent care.
