Memorial service for Linda Mackey Chance, 72, of DeRidder, will be 1 p.m. today, Jan. 7, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home, DeRidder.
Stephen Cheramie
Stephen Cheramie, 60, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2020, in a local hospital.
He was born on Sept. 24, 1959, in Cameron, La., to Tony and Eldie Cheramie.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was witty and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed working out, fishing, playing cards and video games, traveling and taking pictures and videos of family and friends.
Stephen is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Daleen Miller Cheramie; children, Jared “Wes” Cheramie and Stephanie Renee Cheramie; grandson, Lane Lewis Cheramie; siblings, Brent Cheramie, Myra Rutherford (Jerome), Toni Boudreaux (James), Theresa Miller, Angela Theriot (Donald); numerous nieces and nephews; and best friend, Jimmy Kelley, who was like a brother.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2020, at 2 p.m. The Rev. Kirk Fontenot will officiate. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from noon until the start of the service. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.

James Fontenot Jr., 64, of Lake Charles, died Sunday, Jan. 5, in a DeQuincy hospital. Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
Anneliese Susanna Fruge
Anneliese Susanna Fruge, age 87, of Sulphur, La., went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2020. Anneliese was born on Jan. 15, 1932, in Heidelberg, Germany.
Anneliese met her husband in Germany who was proudly serving his country as a Sargent in the U.S. Army.
After marriage they returned to the U.S. and after retiring from his service they settled in Sulphur where they finished raising their children.
Anneliese was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She was a member of the Alter Society and Catholic Daughters. Anneliese was also a seamstress, a wonderful cook, an artist who loved to paint and create stain glass projects. She loved to travel abroad as often as she could but especially to see her family back home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Fruge; daughter, Susanna Ancelet; son, Gregory Fruge; and her parents, Ludwig and Elizabeth Heissler.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are granddaughter, Alexa Qualls and husband Hunter of Sulphur; granddaughter, Nikkia Ybarra of Carlyss; two great-grandsons, Tucker Qualls of Sulphur, and Damon Ybarra of Carlyss; great-granddaughter, Laila Ybarra of Carlyss; two brothers, Peter Heisssler and Rolf Heissler; and a sister, Ute Windisch all of Germany; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020, at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial. A Rosary will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. Visitation will resume at 8:30 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate. Burial will follow in Mimosa Pines Cemetery, Carlyss.

Ronald Eugene ”Ron” Gharst
Ronald Eugene “Ron” Gharst of Lake Charles, La., passed away Monday, Jan. 6, 2020, in a local hospital.
Ron was born May 23, 1952, in Tillamook, Ore., to Jack Donald and Phyllis Watrus Gharst. He attended Washington State University before joining the Army. He served as a Medic during the Vietnam War. He moved to Lake Charles in 1990 from Clinton, Miss., and retired as a Dental Lab Technician from Quality Dental Lab. He was a Master Gardener, motorcyclist, a member of the NRA, and an avid LSU fan. His favorite charity was Boys Village.
Those left to cherish his memory are, his beloved wife of 43 years, Loretta Lynn Morrison Gharst; daughters, Dayna Lee Reed (Rob) and Erica Marie Smith (Boyd); sons, Detlef Morrison Gharst (Rachel), John Joyce Gharst; and his adopted son, Brent Daniel Hedrick (Kristin); sister, Vicki Lynn Gharst Schaffer; and brother, Dan Gharst; grandchildren, Mia Jane Gharst, and Brittany and Brandon Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his granddaughter, Evie Marie Reed.
His funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2020, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, with a rosary being recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume on Thursday at 1 p.m. until the time of service.

Willis Lee LeDoux, 66, of Lake Charles, died Friday, Jan. 3, in a local hospital. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, in Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery.

Vaughn Marcantel, 57, died Jan. 4. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. today, Jan. 7, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home. Private interment will be held Masonic Cemetery.
Barbara Ann Guillory Monteilh
Barbara Ann Guillory Monteilh, 77, of Sulphur, La., died peacefully in her residence the morning of Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020.
Barbara was born on July 3, 1942, in Pine Prairie, La., to Paul Kirby and Joyce Soileau Guillory. She was a resident of Lake Charles for several years before moving to Leesville, La., and finally to Sulphur where she lived for the past 12 years. She was of the Catholic faith. In her earlier days she was a member of the PTA and a Cub Scout Leader. Mrs. Barbara was an excellent cook and loved cooking for her family. She also loved playing music, listening to her many albums and spending time in her garden. Mrs. Barbara especially loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory include one daughter, Michelle Monteilh Mire and her husband Michael of Houston, Texas; three sons, Mark Monteilh and wife Stacie of Sulphur, La., Monty Monteilh of Sulphur, La., Mitchell Monteilh of New Orleans, La.; one brother, Ben Guillory of Baton Rouge, La.; and grandchildren, Mallory Mire, Fallon Roussell, Meredith Mire, Zachary Vinyard, Margaret Mire and Isabella Monteilh.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth (Jerry) Monteilh; her parents; and two brothers, Sherman and James Guillory.
The family would like to send a special thanks to caregiver, Haley Schneph, for her kind, compassionate care of both parents over the past several years.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Home. Monsignor Danny Torres will officiate. Burial will be in St. Catherine Catholic Cemetery in Rosa, La. Visitation will begin on Wednesday at 4 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue at 8 a.m. on Thursday until the time of service. Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. in Rosa, La.

James “Jimmy” Garland Oliver
James “Jimmy” Garland Oliver, 77, of Sulphur, passed away on Jan. 4, 2020, in his residence. He was a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic. Jimmy formerly worked for W R Grace Trucking and Hercules. He enjoyed dancing, bingo, hunting and fishing. Jimmy loved spending time and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jimmy is survived by his two daughters, Angela LeBlanc and husband Paul of Sulphur, and Michele Oliver of Tyler, Texas; son, Michael Oliver and wife Kitty of Sulphur; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, John Gordon Oliver of Kansas City, Mo.; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Lou Venable Oliver; parents, John Wade and Elva Foster Oliver; and sister, JoAnn Marie Oliver Salter.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2020, at 10 a.m. at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home with Deacon Patrick LaPointe officiating. Burial will be in Newlin Cemetery in Singer, La., under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020, from 5-8 p.m. with a rosary at 6 p.m. at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Wednesday, Jan. 8, from 8 a.m. until time of the service.

Charles Raymond ”T- Boy” Talen II
Charles Raymond “T- Boy” Talen II was born Sept. 15, 1980, and passed away Jan. 4, 2020, at the age of 39.
He is survived by his mother, Christine Julia Barlow; and step-father, Robert Barlow of DeQuincy; fiance’ Ashli Lyn Waldrep; brother, Tracy Renfrow and wife Lauren; half sisters, Kimberly Talen Fruge and husband Troy and Sonya Talen Cormier and husband Craig; step-brothers, Russell Barlow and Jason Barlow and wife Anna; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Raymond Talen; grandparents, Joseph (Buddy) Moore, Georgia Harrison Sutton, Charles Marion Talen and Genevieve LeBlanc Talen.
A private graveside service will be held at Masonic Cemetery, DeQuincy, La.
