OBERLIN — Allen Parish Sheriff Doug Hebert III was re-elected to a third term Saturday, holding off a challenge from Oakdale Police Chief Joseph Lockett, according to complete but unofficial results from the Secretary of State’s Office.

The vote was 5,311-1,311, or 80 percent, in favor of Hebert. Voter turnout was 49 percent.

Voters chose Stacey Hurst as the new clerk of court by a vote of 4,32 -2,153, or 67 percent, over Cindy Fontenot. Voter turnout was 48 percent.

The election was held to fill the seat of long-time Clerk of Court Gerald Harrington who did not seek re-election.

In the Police Jury District 3 race, incumbent John Strother was re-elected by 577-420 votes, or 58 percent, over Ervin Willis Sr.

The Police Jury District 4 race is headed for a Nov. 16 runoff between incumbent Creig Vizena and Joshua “Josh” Thompson. Vizena garnered 530 votes, or 45 percent, over Thompson who got 500 votes, or 42 percent. A third challenger, Jesse Gonzales, got 148 votes, or 13 percent. Voter turnout was 52 percent.

Incumbent Tony Hebert was re-elected to the Police Jury District 5 seat over Leonard Duplechain by 740-440 votes, or 63 percent. Voter turnout was 51 percent.

In the race for State Senate District 28, Allen Parish voters favored Heather Cloud, who drew 4,807 votes, or 74 percent. Challenger Robert Johnson got 1,156 votes, or 18 percent, over H. Bernard LeBas who received 557 votes, or 9 percent.

In the race for State Representative District 32, voters favored R. Dewith Carrier with 3,950 votes, or 59 percent. Opponent Herman Ray Hill received 2,067 votes, or 31 percent, with Kristian Poncho had 623 votes, or 9 percent.

Current state representative Dorothy Sue Hill was term-limited and could not seek re-election.

For BESE District 7, voters favored incumbent Holly Boffy with 4,135 votes, or 67 percent, over Timala “Timmie” Melancon with 2,021 votes or 33 percent.

In the governor’s race, voters favored incumbent John Bel Edwards with 2,343 votes, or 35 percent.

For lieutenant governor, voters favored incumbent William “Billy” Nungesser with 5,069 votes, or 79 percent.

Incumbent Kyle Ardoin was the local forerunner for secretary of state with 2,918 votes, or 45 percent.

In the attorney general’s race, incumbent Jeff Landry was the favorite with 5,122 votes, or 78 percent.

Incumbent John M. Schroder was the top contender for treasurer, garnering 4,530 votes, or 70 percent.

The parish favored incumbent Mike Strain for agriculture commissioner with 3,791 votes, or 58 percent.

Incumbent James J. “Jim” Donelon was the favorite for insurance commissioner receiving 3,650 votes, or 60 percent.

The parish rejected all four proposed state constitutional amendments.
