Man accused of rape turns self in

A Lake Charles man accused of rape and indecent behavior with an 11-year-old girl has turned himself in, authorities said.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said Allen Fontenot, 39, turned himself in on Thursday and was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center.

Myers said her office received a complaint May 18 involving Fontenot, 2126 9th St., having inappropriate sexual contact with an 11-year-old girl the previous day.

Following an investigation, Judge David Ritchie signed a warrant for Allen’s arrest for charges of first-degree rape and indecent behavior with a juvenile. His bond was set at $450,000.

Myers said detectives were contacted June 18 by Allen’s wife, Rachel H. Fontenot, 30, also of 2126 9th St., who said she wanted to give a statement in reference to the case.

Rachel Fontenot gave detectives a possible location where Allen could be found, Myers said, but detectives did not find him at that location.

Later that day, Rachel Fontenot admitted lying to detectives in her original statement, Myers said. She also admitted to bringing her husband to another location.

She was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with obstruction of justice and accessories after the fact.
