Elizabeth Singletary Richard, 93, of Lake Charles, La.,
passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019. She was born on Oct. 17, 1925, the only daughter of Ira and Lockett Singletary in Ruston, La.
Mrs. Richard was married to Leslie R. Richard and was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church
in Cameron; member of the Cameron Parish Home Demonstration Club in Cameron, La., where she resided for many years until moving to Lake Charles after her husband retired from the Cameron Parish Assessor’s office. She and her husband were members of
Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church after moving to Lake Charles and were contributors to Villa Marie Retirement Home. She was also a huge contributor to McNeese State University, where she set up Grant Funds for McNeese students, especially
Cameron Parish students. She was also a huge supporter of St. Patrick’s Hospital.
She leaves her memories to three nieces by marriage, Kala Billedeaux, Carolyn Daniels, and Clarice LaFosse; cousins, Freda Van Hook and Brian Askew and
others. She also leaves her cherished memories to her devoted sitters, Jodi Allen, Sandy Oliver, Tommie Lou Sumpter, and Heart of Hospice Nurses.
She is preceded by her parents, Ira and Lockett Singletary; her husband of 50 years, Leslie
R. Richard; niece, Theresa Mudd; and great nephew, Gregory Mudd.
Funeral service will be on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019, at 10 a.m. at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. The Rev. Monsignor Harry D. Greig will officiate. Visitation will be at
Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a Rosary at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Thursday from 8 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Consolata
Cemetery.
