Dorothy Maude McWhirter Francis, age 69, of Iowa, La.,
passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019, in a local hospital.
Maude was a native of Creole, also know as “Grams.” She lived most of her life in Lake Charles. She worked as a secretary for many years for McNeese/Burton Coliseum, Louisiana
State Police, Moss Regional Hospital, and presently at Moss Memorial. The most important thing to her was spending each precious moment of her free time with her family and friends, but especially her granddaughter, Chloe. Chloe was the apple of her
eye.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Ellis and Leona McWhirter; and a brother, Charles Michael McWhirter.
Those left to cherish her memory are daughter, Holly Fruge and husband Chris of Iowa, La.; a
granddaughter, Chloe Nicole Fruge of Iowa, La.; dear friend, Barbara Perry and many other friends.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019, at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. The Rev. Benigues Wego, SVD will
officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Lake Charles. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Friday, and will resume at 8 a.m. until time of service on Saturday.
