Interment will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale. ,Mrs. Cross, 79, of Oakdale, died Friday, Jan. 25, in Resthaven Nursing Home, Lake Charles, La.
Charles E. “Joe” Galanie
Charles E. “Joe” Galanie, 85, passed away Jan. 25, 2019, with his family by his side.
Joe was born in Natick, Mass., on May 21, 1933. After graduating from Boston English High School and Williston Academy in Massachusetts, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Korea. After serving, Joe attended Northeast University in Boston where he earned a degree in Civil Engineering. While at Northeastern, Joe was a cheerleader, active in drama, choir and intramural ice hockey. More importantly, there he met the love of his life and wife of 61 years, Marcella Trueheart.
Upon graduating from college, Joe began his 35-year career with PPG Industries. His time with PPG took him and his family from Barberton, Ohio, Sierra Leone Africa, and finally to Lake Charles, La., in 1976, where he spent the remainder of his life. After retiring in 1996, Joe and Marcella travelled extensively visiting all 50 states and other locales from Canada to Antarctica. During their travels, they attended minor and major league baseball games in many ball parks across the country as well as competed in bridge tournaments in nearly all of the 50 states. Joe was an avid bowler, bridge player, and enjoyed his weekly poker game with old friends. Above all this, Joe took great pleasure in spending time with his grandchildren and watching them develop into beautiful children and successful young adults.
Joe will be forever remembered and missed by his wife, Marcella; sons Jim (Sheila Baldwin) of California, Md., and John (Rici Johannessen) of Cincinnati, Ohio; daughter Valerie Johnson (Don) of Lake Charles; his grandchildren Stephanie, Katherine, David, Laura, Matthew, Ryan, Allison, Jason and Callie; and his brother and sister-in-law and travelling companions, Bill and Betty Trueheart.
Visitation and a memorial service will be Jan. 29 at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation from 11a.m.-1 p.m., with the memorial service beginning at 1 p.m.

KINDER — Mrs. Loretta Ann Nevils Headrick, 82, passed away Friday, Jan. 25, 2019. She was a native and resident of Kinder.
She is survived by two children, Joey Duncan and wife Kay of Kinder, Rose Dandridge and husband David of Millbrook, Ala.; two sisters, Freddie Meaux and Frankie Cansler, both of Lake Charles; two grandchildren, Michelle Newman and husband Roger of Moss Bluff and Tina Dandridge of Millbrook, Ala.; and two great-grandchildren, Amelia and Luke Newman.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019, at Indian Village Pentecostal Church. Rev. Terry Bushnell will officiate. Burial will follow in Nevils Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Sunday at the church.

Troy James, 87, of Merryville, died Tuesday, Jan. 22. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Burial with full honors will be at Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Leesville.

Memorial Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2019, in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille, for Jeannine Irene Kiehl , 81, who died Friday, Jan. 25, 2019, at her residence in Grand Coteau.
Inurnment will be in Consolata Cemetery at a later date.
Rev. Gary Schexnayder will conduct the memorial service.
Survivors include one daughter, Pegi C. Malone of Alabama; grandchildren, Michael J. Albarado and his wife, Susan of Katy, Texas, and Kassi R. Amaya and her husband, Hector of Midland, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews, Louis C. Hoffpauir and his wife, Tessie, Brenda K. Kovach, Susan K. Bush and her husband, Edward, James W. Keller and his wife, Stephanie, Elizabeth K. Mount and her husband, Todd; and numerous great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her companion of 45 years, Betty Jo “BJ” Null; parents, Louis Kiehl and Helene Bidwell Kiehl; two sisters, Rose Marie Guilliot and Mary “Betty” Keller; and daughter, Margi L. Goff.
Jeannine loved horseback riding, hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, barrel racing and spending time with family and friends. Her true passion was watching baseball, playing cards and following the Saints.
The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille’s DOWNTOWN location from noon until time of service Monday.

Emerlene Lou Landry Miller, 87, of Creole died Friday, Jan. 25, 2019, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Miller was a native of and lived most of her life in Creole, La.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Herman Williams will officiate. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Creole. Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Visitation will also be from 8 a.m. until the time of service Saturday in the funeral home.

Bertha Marie Manuel Rains, 83, of Lake Charles died Friday, Jan. 25, 2019, in the comfort of her home.
Mrs. Rains was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles, born July 24, 1935, to Joseph and Alice Guillory Manuel. She was a graduate of LaGrange Senior High School. She worked in retail sales for The Fair Department Stores, The Kitchenry and Cagle Chevrolet. During her younger years, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting and arts and crafts. Her later years, she enjoyed entertainment at the Isle of Capri with her husband Ed. Mrs. Rains will be most remembered for her love of her family.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Patrick Thibodeaux and wife Ronda, and Brian Thibodeaux and wife Susan, of Lake Charles; one daughter, Terri McClelland and husband Keith of Eunice; and six grandchildren, Ashley Thibodeaux, Justin Thibodeaux and wife Olivia, Kristin McClelland, Katelyn Thibodeaux, Garrett McClelland and Blake Thibodeaux.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar B. Rains; three brothers, Albert “Rabbit” Manuel, Gilbert Manuel and J.M. Manuel; and three sisters, Donna Harvey, Beulah Fontenot and Enola Reed.
In honor of Mrs. Rains wishes, her services will be private. Interment will follow in Black Bayou Cemetery.
The family of Mrs. Rains would like to express heartfelt thanks to the nurses of Christus St. Patrick’s Hospice, especially Elaine, for their excellence in care compassion.

Stoney Shane Richard Jr.
Stoney Shane Richard Jr., at the age of 8 months old, went to be with Lord Jan. 23, 2019. Those left to cherish his memory are his parents, Stoney Shane Richard Sr. and Lacey Blount; three sisters, Harley Richard, Rylie Vincent and Mia Vincent; grandparents, Philip and Judy Richard and Susan and Kim Blount; great grandparents, Hubert and Nita Vincent, Dorothy Richard, and Judy and David Tinker; and multiple cousins, aunts and uncles. He is preceded in death by one great-grandfather, Philip Richard Sr.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019, at Johnson and Robison funeral home. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be at Big Woods Cemetery under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home.

Joyce Marie Steele
Joyce Marie Steele, 74, of Lake Charles, La., passed away Jan. 24, 2019, in a local care center. Joyce was born March 28, 1944, in Grand Chenier, La., to Eraste Joseph and Nolia Broussard Montie.
Joyce grew up in Grand Chenier and was a graduate of South Cameron High School. Joyce went on to earn her Bachelor Degree in Accounting from McNeese State University. She worked for several years with various companies as an accountant. Joyce loved to cook, especially her crab stew with brown gravy.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Eraste and Nolia Montie, and her sisters, Velma Trahan and Beverly Quarles.
Those left to cherish her name are her son, Michael Robinson; her brother John (Janice) Montie; and her sister, Wanda Fay (William Green).
The family will receive friends from 9-10 a.m. Jan. 28, 2019, at Johnson Funeral Home. A funeral mass will at 11 a.m. at St. Eugene Catholic Church, officiated by Rev. Clyde Thomas. Burial will follow at St. Eugene Catholic Cemetery.
