Joe Landry, 65, passed away peacefully on Dec. 31, 2018,
in the comfort of his beautiful home at Villa Maria Retirement Center in Lake Charles, La.
He was born Dwight Joseph on April 17, 1953, to Andrew and Geraldine (“Jerry”) Landry of Lake Charles, who have preceded him in death.
He
leaves his loving and devoted wife of 25 years, Lisa, to cherish his memory. He has two daughters, Alison and Erin Landry of Lake Charles; stepdaughter, Brianne Downing and husband John of Houston, Texas; and siblings, Monica Pesson and husband Buddy
of Lake Charles, Ricky Landry of Lafayette, Scott Landry and wife Kathleen of Lake Charles, Charmaine Anderson and husband Andy of Lake Charles; as well as two aunts, two uncles, five nieces, four nephews, two great nieces and two great nephews. His
beloved cats, Miss Gali and Lucy were a joy in his life and they also miss him greatly!
Joe is a 1971 Graduate of LaGrange Senior High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from McNeese State University in Electrical
Engineering.
In May 2018, he retired as a Senior Electrical Engineer in the Project Group of CITGO in Lake Charles.
Joe was an avid goose hunter and was well known as one of the top best goose callers in the area. Many wanted to
hunt with him because of this reason. He had a very deep appreciation for the benefits gained from the maintenance of wildlife. He also had a great love for NASCAR. Joe enjoyed all Cajun dishes, especially spicy boiled crawfish. He loved classic rock
‘n roll music and enjoyed dancing.
He was born of Catholic faith and held God in his heart and in his life. This was emulated by the hundreds of friends he made throughout his life and how very well-liked and respected he was.
A
very special heartfelt thank you to Joe’s best friend, who he deeply loved, Greg “Bull” Byrley. Your friendship and visits with Joe meant the absolute world to both him and Lisa.
Fondest recognition to Joe’s very good friend, Samuel Lee,
for taking time to travel from California to visit him.
Thank you to Joe’s long-time physician and friend, Dr. Arthur Primeaux, for the great concern and care given to him through the years.
The staff, especially all nurses of
STAT Home Health and St. Joseph’s Hospice gave Joe the most excellent, gentle and professional care. They continue to provide much comfort and peace to Joe’s wife even after his passing.
Also, a most grateful appreciation to Joe’s
caregivers, Michelle, Gavin and Cassie. Extra special recognition to Michelle who provided Joe with adventure, fun and happiness in his last months of life. They all provided peace of mind, comfort and friendship to Joe and his wife.
Before losing his battle with dementia, Joe was dedicated to the good of science. He chose to donate his body to LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, La., in hopes of helping with new discoveries and perhaps resolutions in medical history.
His last days were filled with love and care from his wife, his family and his caregivers.
His loving wife asks for prayers for his beautiful soul and for all who knew Joe, to remember him in the fondest ways. There will not be funeral
services; however, your donation to any dementia related charity in Joe’s honor or prayers from your church would be greatly appreciated. More importantly, simply showing your kindness and understanding towards another with dementia would be very
rewarding for you. Joe would be so grateful!
