LAKE ARTHUR — The cause of an early morning fire that damaged Notts Cajun Restaurant in Lake Arthur on Tuesday is undetermined.
“Investigators are classifying the cause of the fire as undetermined with the inability to rule out electrical malfunction,” Ashley Rodrigue, public affairs director for the State Fire Marshal’s office, said in an email.
The fire originated in the southwest corner of a corridor that connected the kitchen and the office near the drive through window. An appliance was discovered in this area, she said.
Fire crews were dispatched to the restaurant at 639 Arthur Ave. at about 4 a.m. Tuesday.
A passerby on her way to work reported the fire after seeing smoke coming from the restaurant.
Water and smoke damage was reported throughout the restaurant.
The restaurant will remain closed until further notice, according to owner Ryan Lege.
