UPDATE: I-10 shooting

News Release

On July 17, 2018, Investigators identified Spears as one of the suspects involved in a shooting on Interstate 10 Eastbound near MM 31 on the afternoon of Friday, July 13th, 2018.  An arrest warrant for Attempted 2nd degree Murder was prepared and submitted to Judge Sharon Wilson, who signed that warrant with a $150, 000 dollar bond.

On July 17th, 2018 Lake Charles Police SWAT officers located and arrested Anthony J. Spears, 38, of 704 Williams Street on a warrant for Attempted 2nd Degree Murder. At the time of his arrest, Spears was also found to be in possession of crack cocaine and was booked on that charge as well.

<strong><em>On Saturday July 13, 2018 at 4:48pm, the Lake Charles Police Department responded to a shooting that occurred on Interstate 10 East bound, near the Enterprise Boulevard Exit.  The investigation revealed that the drivers of two separate motor vehicles that had been waiting in traffic, west of the Interstate 10 bridge, when they became involved in a dispute. As they continued to travel east bound on Interstate 10, the driver and a passenger of one of the vehicles produced a firearm and began shooting at the other vehicle. The victim was not injured during the incident.</em></strong>
