Alcohol purchase sting in Sulphur
Nine Sulphur businesses have been issued citations for illegal sales of alcohol to minors, authorities said.
Sulphur Police Chief Lewis Coats said the narcotics division conducted a sting Wednesday night of underage alcohol purchases at 16 business in Sulphur.
Out of sixteen business checked, nine sold to a minor and were issued citations for illegal sales of alcohol to minors. They are Shop Rite, 1600 E. Napoleon St.; Fifth Wheel, 500 N. Beglis; Market Basket, 2227 Maplewood Drive; More 4 Less, 3350 Maplewood Drive; Xprez Tobacco, 3703 Maplewood Drive; Exxon (Delta Food Mart), 309 S. Cities Service Highway; Gulf (Bayou Food Mart), 1900 Ruth St.; Shell 2618 S. Ruth St.; and Valero (Smoker Paradise), 2021 Ruth St.
The sting was conducted due to the influx of people in the area and tips from residents that possible illegal sales of alcohol were being observed in the city.
The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrest:

Megan Irene Hardy, 22, 4703 S. Jace Matthew Lane, Iowa, La. — domestic abuse aggravated assault.
Brian Keith Lavine, 48, 2219 Greenlawn St. — six counts of marijuana possession, theft less than $1,000, disturbing the peace, drug paraphernalia, criminal trespass. Bond: $16,000.
Winston Joseph Latour III, 35, 2830 Lena Ave. — domestic abuse battery.
Brandy Modene Oquain, 33, 533 Holbrook Park Road, DeQuincy — domestic abuse battery.
Jedidiah Jancie, 17, 1011 Francher St., Vinton — simple burglary, theft $1,000-$5,000. Bond: $5,000.
Keith Wayne Robertson, 37, 810 13th St. — failure to register as a sex offender, two counts of second-offense failure to register.
Philip Mark Amy, 39, 1417 N. Simmons St. — simple burglary, theft $1,000-$5,000, simple property damage less than $1,000, drug possession, contraband in jail. Bond: $25,000.
Kevin Leroy Semien, 35, 2216 Harris Drive, No. 190, Sulphur — possession of stolen firearms, marijuana possession, obscuring of windshields or windows.
Holly N. Hebert, 20, 1540 Koonce Road, Sulphur — hit-and-run driving, contempt of court. Bond: $10,000.
Clarence Louis Mosely III, 31, 1023 Pryce St. — domestic abuse battery child endangerment, home invasion.
Kelvin L. St. Romain, 50, 183 Buddy Cooper Road, Singer — domestic abuse battery.
Brodrick Breon Record, 19, Mamou — armed robbery, attempted armed robbery with use of firearm, attempted criminal conspiracy. Bond: $500,000.
Michael Dewayne Thibodeaux, 3544 Joan St. — domestic abuse battery.
Leon Moses Francis Jr., 50, Houston — domestic abuse battery.
Marissa Sanae Thompson, 29, 4249 Fifth Ave., H27 — domestic abuse battery.
