If you need a belt, they’ve probably got (And if they don’t, they’ll get it – fast)
Belts Plus, at 600 S. Martin Luther King Hwy. in Lake Charles, is the only place of its kind in Southwest Louisiana. No other store carries such a complete line of belts for a range of applications -— autos, vacuum cleaners, washers, dryers, VCRs, residential and commercial lawn mowers, tractors, four-wheelers, combines – and the list goes on. Belts Plus is also the go-to place for car detailing supplies and car detailing services. It’s quickly gaining recognition for its complete line of commercial and residential lawn mower parts in addition to lawnmower belts.
Belts Plus is located at 600 South Hwy. 14/Martin Luther King Hwy. in Lake Charles.
“New customers are surprised to find we carry a complete line of
lawnmower parts including blades, idler pulleys, spindles, tires, tubes, air and oil filters,” said Belts Plus Manager Melvin Thibodeaux.
The business got its start back in 1985.
Melvin Thibodeaux and Dewey Begnaud are shown above in front of the seemingly endless array of residential and commercial lawn mower blades available at Belts Plus. When possible, bring the model and serial number of the blade needed. There are hundreds to choose from and many appear to be similar.
“Customer service is the key to success in any business,” said owner Rawlin Stewart. “This business is no different. Customers want what they want when they want it. However, it’s the price that keeps customers coming through the door again and again.”
“On the rare occasion Belts Plus does not have a belt or part in stock, it can usually be picked up the next day, according to Thibodeaux.
Dewey Begnaud joined the Belts Plus team about 10 years ago, when more folks supported and relied on local businesses for everything they needed.
“We continue to offer information and answer questions, as well as sell parts, supplies and service.” Begnaud said. “We’re experienced. We understand the customer’s needs. If someone comes in to pick up a new pulley for their lawnmower, we ask about their belts and blades. The Internet doesn’t do that.
Auto belts are just the beginning of the belts available at Belts Plus. If something uses a belt, that belt can be purchased at Belts Plus.
Ethan Foret is the newest member of the Belts Plus team.
“My grandfather, Russell Koonce, visited this store all the time as far back as I can remember,” Foret said. “A lot of those times, I was with him.”
When Foret came in with his grandfather, there were fewer lines of belts and other parts.
Belts Plus offers a complete detailing service and at right are just a small sample of the many car detailing products available for purchase inside the store.
“When I started in ’85, we had maybe three lines of lawnmower blades,” Thibodeaux said. “Now there are 30. Because of so many different types of blades, it’s necessary for the customer to bring in a model and serial number.”
Belts Plus opens at 7:30 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. On Saturday, the hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. To find out more, give them a call at (337) 436-7698.
