Men charged with murder in Louisiana woman’s fatal overdose

SLIDELL — Two men have been charged with second-degree murder in the fatal heroin overdose of a Louisiana woman.
NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune reports 25-year-old Warren Brown and 39-year-old Oren Bowens are charged in the death of 23-year-old Shantell Jackson. A Wednesday St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office statement says the agency arrested the two men under a state law allowing for the persecution of people accused of selling or providing narcotics that lead to a person’s death. It says Brown is accused of purchasing heroin from Bowen and giving it to Jackson, his girlfriend who fatally overdosed in October 2017.
Bowens and Brown are each in custody with on a $750,000 bond. It’s unclear if they have lawyers.
