The store’s warehouse is stocked with competitively priced cash-and-carry products.

A popular floor covering found at Kenny Fuselier & Co. these days is luxury vinyl flooring.

“If you want the look of hardwood, but need a floor that’s easier to maintain or want the hardwood look throughout the home, then luxury vinyl, or ceramic that looks like hardwood are amazing products,” Fuselier said. “You have to see it to believe how much it looks like hardwood.”

Improvements in the latest vinyl flooring may come as a surprise to homeowners who haven’t shopped for new flooring in a few years.

New manufacturing methods allow for texture and depth of color, pattern and movement that more closely resembles real wood and even natural stone flooring. The realistic look is only one part of what makes new vinyls better.

Many of today’s vinyl flooring products feature multi layers, which resist stains and abrasions, waterproof the product and maintains the realistic-looking pattern.

Unlike ceramic or porcelain, vinyl creates a softer floor surface, which may be advantageous in kitchens especially.

Vinyl pieces that resemble natural wood and stone flooring products are offered in tiles or in strips of various widths and lengths designed to be locked together. These locked together pieces create a floating floor without the need for adhesives. “Grout” can be added to give the vinyl tile that looks like stone an even more realistic look. The varying lengths of vinyl more closely resemble wood floor installations.
