What would be an ideal set of linebackers using players from different schools?

RA: I would go with the trio of Kinder’s Jordan Cordova, DeRidder’s Nick Sanders and Vinton’s Trevon Tillman. Cordova knocks you back a few feet and is a three-year starter who played on the Yellow Jackets’ 2015 Class 2A state championship team and has several college offers. Sanders is a junior and catching the eye of college recruiters and Tillman has a knack for finding the ball and laying down big hits.

WA: I’d take Chris Meeks from Lake Charles College Prep, Matthew Cormier of LaGrange and Christian Guillory of Washington-Marion. Meeks is a thumper, Cormier does a bit of everything and Guillory is a pass rusher. We have all the bases covered.

Which team has the best secondary?

RA: Jennings. All the attention was on running back Travis Etienne last year, but the Bulldogs’ secondary is scary this year. They have a pair of returning first-team all-District 4-3A safeties in Davian Madden and Michael Bryant plus cornerback Bryce Anthony. And Keuante Riggs is moving over from wide receiver to cornerback.

WA: Elton. The Indians have an athletic group with four starters back in Derrick Finley, Gavin Courville, Keshawn Lyons and Tylor Fogleman.

Take corners from one school and safeties from another to create a secondary.

RA: The combination of Washington-Marion cornerbacks Gerron Duhon, a two-way senior star who has several college offers, and Tayvean Grice, who is just a sophomore but already impressing coaches, and Sulphur senior safety Connor Cook and junior Devon Lebrun would make any team think twice about throwing the ball.

WA: I’ll take the corners from LaGrange (Malik Ellis and Tre’von Deboest) and pair them with the safeties (Josh Thomas and Andre Lee) from Barbe. That is a ton of speed, experience and physicality. That series is being resumed this year so we might as well get some Gators and Bucs together.
