Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Col. John Fortunato says Coffee and Green, who didn’t know one another, were socializing July 8 inside Buffalo Billiards bar. Fortunato says Green threw two quick punches at Coffee’s face, knocking him out. Friends then carried Coffee to a motel, where he had been renting. The next day Coffee was found lying unconscious on the bathroom floor. He was taken to the hospital, where he died.

An autopsy later found that Coffee had died from massive head trauma.

It’s unclear if Green has a lawyer.
