BATON ROUGE — LSU will open the College World Series on Saturday with a 7 p.m. game against Florida State.
In the other game in LSU’s bracket, No. 1 national seed Oregon State will play Cal Fullerton in the CWS’s first game at 2 p.m. the same day.
The other bracket has TCU, Texas A&M, Louisville and Florida, which punched the last ticket to Omaha with a 3-0 victory over Wake Forest Monday night.
That bracket will begin play Sunday with Louisville against Texas A&M at 1 p.m., with TCU playing Florida at 6 p.m.
The Tigers’ side of the two brackets contains nothing but Omaha veterans.
LSU and Fullerton both are making their 18th College World Series appearance.
But they are novices compared to Florida State’s 22 trips.
Oregon State is the relative newbie with six, but the Beavers, the No. 1 national seed at 54-4, won back-to-back national championship in 2006 and 2007.
Among the four teams, the bracket now has 64 Omaha appearances with 12 national championships.
LSU has six, Fullerton has four and Florida State has the most CWS appearances with a national championship.
The other bracket combined had 25 appearances in the CWS, but no national championships.
With Florida checking in, four of the national seeds made it to Omaha — No. 1 Oregon State, No. 3 Florida, No. 4 LSU and No. 7 Louisville.
Last year only two national seeds reached Omaha.
The surivors of the two brackets play a three-game series for the national championship beginning on June 26.
