Catch a Concert | Week 2
Published 6:24 pm Tuesday, June 13, 2017
The Lake Charles Community Band will close out its 30th season with the Catch-A-Concert series every Monday in June. The free concerts will take place from 7-8 p.m. in the 2nd floor Mezzanine inside the Lake Charles Civic Center. In previous years the program took place at the outdoor Arcade Pavilion. Brenda Harrington, band president stated, “We found it to be cool and comfortable with no chance of rain indoors.” The band is under the direction of Head Conductor Fred Roeder and Assistant Conductor Leo Murray. The all-volunteer group is dedicated to sharing a love of music with the public. It is made up of band directors, teachers, retirees, housewives, craftsmen, professionals, and students. The theme for this summer’s series will be a “Once Upon A Time”. The June 12th concert will be about “People and Places”. Sometimes it’s not the song that makes you emotional, it’s the people and places that come to your mind when you hear the song. The concert will include selections from “Oliver!”, “Jersey Boys”, an overture to The Addams Family Musical, a “Titanic” medley, and a tribute to Elvis.
