A DeRidder man remains in an Alexandria hospital after being stabbed in the chest by another man during a fight at his home Monday night, authorities said.

Deputy Chief Christopher Rudy said officers responded to a residence on West Port Street at about 7:30 p.m. in reference to a stabbing.

Rudy said 25-year-old Donovan Jarmal Jackson had gone to the home, where the fight ensued. “At some point in the altercation, Jackson produced a knife and stabbed the victim in the chest area at least once,” he said.

Jackson was arrested without incident, Rudy said, and the victim was taken to the Alexandria hospital.

Jackson was charged with one count of aggravated second-degree battery. Bond was set at $50,000.
