Board at work on employee social media policy

What is the Calcasieu Parish School Board policy on teachers who use sick days to do political work and/or lobby at the Capitol in Baton Rouge, and what is the policy on teachers posting political messages on social media during school business hours?
Holly Holland, the school system’s spokeswoman, said district employees who miss six or more consecutive days of work must submit a doctor’s certificate that verifies why they were absent.
Employees who repeatedly miss fewer than six days because of illness may be asked get a doctor’s note, Holland said.
Teachers, bus drivers and other workers who receive no annual leave are given two personal days, which can be taken whenever and for whatever reason, she said.
“As for policy regarding social media posts, the Calcasieu Parish School Board is currently in the process of developing a social media policy for employees,” Holland wrote in an email.
“While our policy will not infringe upon any First Amendment rights, social media posts occurring during working hours will be addressed.”
Parking change made for security reasons
For 25 years most people going to the Broad Street sheriff’s office took their business to the back, where bonding, visitation and inmate funds are located.
There appear to be gates under construction that will keep all but law enforcement vehicles restricted to the area in front of the admin building facing Broad. What’s that about?
“For security reasons, we are limiting vehicle access to areas designated for law enforcement officers, which will also address an issue we have had with introduction of contraband into the correctional center,” Kim Myers, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman, wrote in an email.
“While people who need to conduct business at the correctional center will not be able to park where they have in the past, we have created a large parking lot to the west of the correctional center which is actually closer to the facility. Access to this new parking lot is on the road just west of the parking lot.”
Bivens took job with W.Va. station
Is Erica Bivens still with Channel 7? If not, where did she go?
Bivens, who left KPLC-TV in mid-April, now works for WSAZ-TV, an NBC affiliate in Huntington, W.Va.
“Whew!” BIvens posted on Facebook on April 14 after her arrival in Huntington.
“After a 15-hour drive with all 3 furbaes in tow, WE HAVE ARRIVED!!! Can I just say how SWEET everyone has been! People driving by just to say hello and to see if they could lend a hand! Bless you all.”
