Former McNeese State pitcher Emily Vincent of Sulphur will continue her softball career in San Marcos, Texas, where she will play for the National Pro Fastpitch’s Texas Charge.
She is the second player in McNeese history to sign a pro contract.
Vincent signed a one-year contract Wednesday.
“I was talking to my dad the other day about how we used to talk about this in the barn hitting and I had no idea that this was even possible,” Vincent said. “Now the opportunity came, and it’s awesome. It’s really special to me, and it’s really humbling to know I can represent McNeese and Sulphur at this level.”
Vincent earned All-Southland Conference honors all four years she played as a Cowgirl.
She led McNeese to an NCAA Tournament berth during her senior season in 2016 as she pitched 169 innings in which she compiled a 17-3 record and a 1.51 ERA.
She spent last summer in Italy where she played in a league with former teammate and current Cowgirl Erika Piancastelli.
It will be a quick turnaround for Vincent, as the Charge’s season begins June 8 and runs through August.
