A 19-year-old DeRidder man died in an car accident in Topsy early Friday morning, authorities said.

Kim Myers, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman, said a car driven by Bradley Joubert was traveling west on Topsy Road when it left the roadway and struck a culvert near the intersection of Arnold White Road.

Joubert, who wasn’t wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene, Myers said.

Officials don’t know yet if impairment played a role in the accident, she said.
