1 dead, 2 hurt in early-morning house fire in Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE — Authorities say an early-morning fire in Baton Rouge has claimed the life of one person and injured two others.

Baton Rouge Fire Department spokesman Mark Miles said the blaze began around 1 a.m. Thursday at the rear of a home on East Washington Street.

The Advocate reports that two of the three people living in the home escaped with second-degree burns and were taken to a hospital.

Miles said the third person was found dead in the home.

Names of the victims weren’t immediately released.
