The 3rd Circuit Court of Appeal on Tuesday upheld the 28-year prison term of a Leesville man convicted in the fatal stabbing of another man in 2011.
In October, Dontrez Banks was sentenced to 25 years for manslaughter and three years for criminal conspiracy in the death of Jason Perry, 23, of Rosepine. The charges were part of a plea deal offered to Banks, who was 17 when Perry was killed.
In August, Joshua Griffin, 27, was convicted of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and armed robbery stemming from the stabbing. He was sentenced to life without parole.
Vernon Parish sheriff’s deputies were called to a Rosepine residence at 10:30 p.m. April 13, 2011, and found Perry’s body in a driveway.
Griffin, identified as a suspect, was apprehended, along with Banks and 19-year-old Andre Porter.
Porter was sentenced in October to 20 years for manslaughter and three years for criminal conspiracy.
