LCPD: Fatal crash victim had been shot

<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">A driver who died Sunday after crashing his vehicle into a tree had been shot, authorities said.</span>

<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">Lake Charles Police Deputy Chief Mark Kraus said officers responded to the wreck at the corner of North Hodges and Macy Street at about 5:17 p.m. Sunday night. He said members of the Lake Charles Fire Department and Acadian Ambulance also were dispatched to the scene.</span>

<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">Kraus said as the driver, Robert “Bob” Colston Sr., was being removed from the truck for treatment, rescue personnel discovered he had been shot.</span>

<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">Colston was transported to an area hospital, but later died.</span>

<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">Kraus said Colston’s death is being treated as a homicide.</span>

<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact Det. Cpl. Willie Fontenot at 491-1311.</span>
