Savoy was the winning pitcher and hit a two-RBI triple in South Beauregard’s 4-2 win over top-seeded Brusly in the state semifinals.

“Making it to the finals was a big privilege, something our school had never done before,” Savoy said.

“It was pretty intense and nerve-racking, but you had to put that aside and just play,” he said. “It was great, it was a lot of fun. I feel like I helped the team out in the pitching area and hitting. I didn’t want to let my team down so I did everything I could. I want to keep working hard, hopefully increase my velocity for next year and be undefeated instead of losing two games like I did this year.”
