Area no-call complaints numbered 5,311 in ’15

<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">To complain about violations of federal no-call rules, call the National Do Not Call Registry at 888-382-1222 — the TTY number is 866-290-4236 — or visit www.donotcall.gov.</span>

<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">“If your number is on the Registry, and you get a sales call, or you get an illegal robocall, don’t interact in any way,” reads a page on the FTC’s website.</span>

<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">“Don’t press buttons to be taken off the call list or to talk to a live person. Doing so will probably lead to more unwanted calls. Instead, hang up and file a complaint with the FTC.”</span>

<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">According to the agency’s National Do Not Call Registry Data Book, the no-call database contained 222.8 million numbers as of Sept. 30, the end of the federal fiscal year. Louisiana phone numbers accounted for 2.7 million entries.</span>

<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">The data show that the FTC received 3.58 million complaints of no-call violations last year, including 30,867 from Louisiana.</span>
