As preparations get underway for the 10th anniversary of BeauCARE’s Rhinestone Roundup, the organization’s board presented Kerin Morris with an honorary sheriff’s badge this week so she can officially preside over the festivities.
BeauCARE Executive Director Annette Duplechin said Morris was chosen based on her passion and support of the organization.
“We began appointing a sheriff over the event five years ago because we wanted to honor someone who supported our agency wholeheartedly, but who also gave back to the community on many levels,” Duplechin said.
“Kerin was on our board for many years and a true advocate for our agency, along with all her other philanthropic endeavors for children and families in Southwest Louisiana.”
She said Morris had been asked several times in the past to serve as sheriff over the event, but that this was the first time the offer was accepted.
“She is really the founder of the event and very deserving of this honor, and we are just so honored that she finally said yes,” Duplechin said.
Morris said she was honored to serve as sheriff over the event and has a sense of pride when looking at how large the fundraiser has grown.
“Our vision 11 years ago was to host an event that everyone in the area could enjoy while raising money for a very worthy organization,” Morris said.
“It has grown into a very successful event that has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars, and it warms my heart to see so much support for BeauCARE.”
The Rhinestone Roundup, the premier fundraiser for the nonprofit, will feature food, music and live and silent auctions. Entertainment will be provided by Gyth Rigdon and the band Old Southern Moonshine Revival.
The event is set for May 7 at the Beauregard Parish Fairgrounds.
