Academy offers 35 officers

The Calcasieu Parish Regional Law Enforcement Training Academy completed its 107th Basic Academy with a graduation ceremony Thursday, honoring 35 officers from 13 agencies.
Thirty-four officers completed 320 hours of basic law enforcement instruction, and one officer completed a 90-hour refresher course.
Joshua Foster of the New Llano Police Department was selected academy class president.
The highest scholastic average honor was awarded to Finn Carlton of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office. Carlton also earned the defensive tactics honor.
Firearms awards were presented to Foster, first; Jeffery Fholer, Lake Charles Police Department, second; and John Gaspard, Lake Charles Police Department, third.
Officers graduating after completing 320 hours of instruction: Carlton, Alex Corbello, Steven Cox, Charles DeVillier, Payton Fawcett, Jennifer Fry, Kyle Guillory, Tony Jones II, Adam Mount, Alex Sexton and Samuel Wilkins, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office; Bryon Haller, Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office; Terry Bertrand, Kent Harris and Jacob LeJuine, Cameron Parish Sheriff’s Office; Doris Carter, DeRidder Police Department; Bennon Dougay, Harbor Police Department; Melanie Guillory, Jeff Davis Sheriff’s Office; Richard Geiger and Milton Hall, Jennings Police Department; Christopher Breland, Roland Castille, Ashley Domingue, Fholer, Gaspard, Courtney Griffith, Joshua Maddox and Adam Williams, Lake Charles Police Department; Daniel Isbell, Merryville Police Department; Foster; Christopher Otterson, Oakdale Police Department; Raymond Rich and Sean Smith, Sulphur Police Department; and Edward Harrell, Winn Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Freddy Galicia of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office completed the 90-hour refresher course.
