LAFAYETTE (AP) — A Duson woman allegedly kidnapped by the father of her child has been found alive but the man suspected of taking her is dead.
Authorities had been searching for 29-year-old Scott Thomas, of Leonville, after he arrived at a daycare center Wednesday and confronted 29-year-old Bethany Arceneaux.
Thomas allegedly forced Archeneaux into his vehicle and drove away. Her 2-year-old child was left inside her car at the daycare.
Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Kip Judice confirmed Friday that Thomas was dead. Judice told The Advertiser (http://bit.ly/1addBsC ) Thomas succumbed to injuries sustained during a confrontation with Arceneaux’s relatives.
Judice says friends and family were searching for Arceneaux and entered a house where they heard someone screaming. Judice says Thomas allegedly began to injure Arceneaux and someone shot Thomas to stop him.
