City police are looking for two suspects involved in an armed robbery and shooting at a home on Moeling Street Saturday night.

Deputy Chief Mark Kraus on Monday said two people were shot during the robbery. Both were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

“According to the victims, there was a gathering the residence,” Kraus said. “They heard a knock on the door. When they opened the door, the two suspects entered armed with a weapon and demanded money from everyone. One of the suspects began shooting and hit two victims before both fled on foot.”

Kraus said the suspects were dressed all in black with hoodies over their heads and red bandannas covering their faces.

Lake Charles man charged in vehicle theft

A 24-year-old Lake Charles man has been charged with auto theft, aggravated flight from an officer, reckless operation and hit-and-run driving, city police said.

Deputy Chief Mark Kraus said Michael Joseph DeVille, 1608 21st St., was arrested early Saturday morning.

“We received a complaint about a vehicle being stolen from the parking lot at OB’s,” Kraus said Monday in a news release. “The vehicle was quickly located but when officers tried to conduct a stop, DeVille refused and sped away.”

Kraus said DeVille crashed into a fence on 21st Street and fled on foot. DeVille was tracked to his home by a police dog and arrested.

“During the interview, DeVille said he took the vehicle because he did not have a ride home and didn’t feel like walking,” Kraus said.
