Crime Roundup: Local men caught in child porn sting

Two Lake Area men were arrested Tuesday as part of a statewide undercover operation targeting child predators, authorities said.

State Attorney General Caldwell said 27-year-old Lucas W. Wimberly, 648 Arsene Lebleu Road, Lake Charles, and 55-year-old Robert A. Hawes, 615 W. Napoleon St., Apt. 14, Sulphur, were arrested early in Tuesday morning.

“Louisiana’s ICAC Task Force is committed to working tirelessly to pursue those who exploit and victimize our children through the Internet,” Caldwell said. “This latest roundup is just another example of the Task Force’s outstanding efforts in the fight against child predators.”

Wimberly was charged with 20 counts of possession of child pornography. His bond was set at $150,000. Hawes was charged with 16 counts of possession of child pornography. His bond has not been set yet.

The operation, by the Louisiana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, resulted in seven more arrests.

Other people arrested in the operation are: John Andrew Becnel, 22, of Gonzales; Michael Wesley, 57, of Plaquemines; Bradley Bourque, 32, of Baton Rouge; Jude Stelly, 29, of St. Martinville; Tony J. Latiolais, 46, of Breaux Bridge; Joshua Villa, 33, of Broussard; Chad Sonnier, 32, of Church Point.

Lafayette woman facing drug charges

A 31-year-old Lafayette woman has been charged with methamphetamine and marijuana possession following a traffic stop on Interstate 10, authorities said.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said Emily Thibodeaux Wallace was pulled over for a traffic violation at 7:30 p.m. Monday while driving east on Interstate 10 between Vinton and Sulphur.

Myers said Combined Anti-Drug Task Force Detective Sgt. Jeff Cole reported a strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside of Wallace’s car.

“During a subsequent search of the car, Sgt. Cole recovered a can with a false bottom,” Myers said Wednesday. “The can containing approximately 2 ounces of methamphetamine. Colt also recovered a small bag from Wallace which contained approximately 2 ounces of methamphetamine and 2 partially burnt marijuana cigarettes. A spoon and syringe were also found inside the car.”

Bond was set at $205,100.

James William Eaton, 42, 1007 U.S. 90, No. 2, Vinton — two counts of intimidating, impeding or injuring witnesses; injuring officers. Bond: $200,000.

Gabriel N. Lemelle, 41, 1515 W. McNeese St., No. 25 — simple battery, domestic abuse battery with child endangerment.

Michael Jerome Green, 38, 2119 Kathy Drive, Sulphur — domestic abuse battery, domestic abuse battery with child endangerment.

Derrick Jude Labeaud, 40, 2825 3rd St. — domestic abuse battery, issuing worthless checks under $500.

David Zachery, 41, 2303 Bank St. — domestic abuse battery with child endangerment.

Elizabeth Ann Crouts, 32, 2303 Bank St. — domestic abuse battery with child endangerment.

Irvin Jones, 24, 333 Mill St., No. 723 — violation of protective orders, drug possession with intent to distribute, first-offense marijuana possession, possession of drug paraphernalia.

Richard Paul King, 32, 715 14th St. — violation of protective orders.

Christopher Michael Kelly, 35, 3653 La. 27, Sulphur — simple burglary, theft over $1,500. Bond: $60,000.

Carolyn Louise Green, 47, 2001 12th St. — simple burglary, theft under $300. Bond: $40,000.

Erik Alan Haines, 39, 3523 La. 27, Sulphur — theft over $1,500. Bond: $15,000.

Stacia Leyna Morris, 32, Port Neches, Texas — criminal trespass, simple burglary, theft over $500. Bond: $5,500.

Gilbert Albert Chaison, 42, 310 Kirkman St. — possession of stolen things. Bond: $3,000.

Jamie Holmes, 35, 1605 E. School St. — three counts of drug possession with intent to distribute. Bond: $200,000.

Charles Marcus Welcome, 37, 2717 Rose St. — drug possession with intent to distribute. Bond: $190,000.

Jeremy Dale Brummett, 36, 103 Heford St., DeQuincy — third-offense DWI, possession of alcoholic beverages in a motor vehicle, driving with a suspended license, moving violation, first-offense marijuana possession, two counts of drug possession, contraband in a penal institution, possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond: $16,500.

Deonjuna Antoinette Savoy, 21, 616 Shasta St. — two counts of drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of drug use in presence of minors. Bond: $15,000.

Remell Deshawn Green, 21, 2208 Rose St. — drug possession with intent to distribute, first-offense marijuana possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to signal, illegal use of currency. Bond: $5,750.

Misty Rose Trahan, 31, Vidor, Texas — drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond: $4,000.

Lori Michelle Bouillion, 22, 1471 Country Club Road — first-offense marijuana possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, weapons charges, criminal trespass.

Annilace P. Wills, 30, 5140 Weaver Road — drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia.

Justin Wade Laughlin, 19, 1667 Barney Hoffpauir Road, Sulphur — second-offense marijuana possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, no license, non-moving violation.””
