The Calcasieu Parish School Board on Tuesday approved the selection of Robert Barrentine as the new principal of W.W. Lewis Middle School.
Barrentine, now assistant principal at Sulphur High School, previously worked as the assistant principal at W.W. Lewis.
“I’m nervous. I’m excited. All those good things,” Barrentine said. “I’m looking forward to going back and trying to do what I can.”
Barrentine will take over for Tony Dougherty, who is retiring at the end of the school year.
“He’s (Barrentine) a very fine young man,” Superintendent Wayne Savoy said. “He’s been successful wherever he’s been.”
Barrentine will begin his new job this summer.
